Kamada will be an asset

I'll be honest. I think Kamada could be the first Palace player I was pleased to see get a straight red.

He is a Glasner choice and a bad one. What makes matters worse is that he is generally played deeper than he wants. If he doesn't replace Eze then he shouldn't be on the field. Doucoure, Hughes and Devenney will have carry the load until Lerma and Wharton get fit.

This is what concerns me. Glasner is a good guy and a good manager, but he has no experience of a Premier League dog fight. You can't always play expansive football. Sometimes you have to defend first, stay solid and attack with caution. We have lost games where we should have got points.

It looks like we will be one of 6 teams who can go down, and right now we are one of the favourites. We have to get points against the teams around us. A stronger squad would help. Eze, Sarr and Nketiah are simply not enough.
Early days, always a team that falls apart nearer the end of the season.

And always a team that just never gets going and is effectively relegated by March. Last year it was Burnley. This year it could well be us. Run of upcoming fixtures looks very difficult. Getting to Xmas with about 12 points looks likely if not quite optimistic. That would mean we would need about 25 points from about 20 games. Don’t see that happening. Of course football being football we might go and beat Man City and Arsenal instead …

good point. Burnley had some decent players last year and played some decent football (at times) but Kompany's refusal to change his principles and play out less from the back etc really cost them. Naive springs to mind.
Watching the documentary on Sky you could see the American owners were too in awe of him and gave him too much freedom.
I sometimes watch Palace and feel we are quite a naive team too

For the most part this post's title nearly got it right,Kamade will be an ass, a near Nostrodamian forecast. 😊 😉

Why is Kamala even on the bench let alone playing. He cannot pass & when he does it’s backwards, has no speed so cannot take on players, cannot tackle & basically runs around like a headless chicken.
We had 10 players on the pitch yesterday, no wonder we lost so heavily.
IMO Devenney starts over both Eze & Kamala, in fact I would prefer Schlupp over Kamala.
Definitely need recruits in January.

Allegedly he is the highest paid player in the squad so we have a right to expect much, much better from him. It almost seems that Glasner is constantly trying to justify his cost and wages by constantly playing him in the hope he will come good.

He's had enough time so we should now try to move him on together Edouard and Holding. Unfortunately their combined transfer worth is unlikely to fund the purchase of anybody decent.

I still regret we didn't go for Wan-Bissaka who is earning consistent good reviews in a mediocre Hammers team - at £15 million he was a more sensible purchase than Kamada or Holding. Seeing Olise, Eze in the stands with Wilf makes me wonder if we are going to get Zaha back. He wouldn't be Glasner's choice but he might be Parish's.

Made the same point to my son in law by message. He's Arsenal and said he was pony-Kamada that is!

Glasner has a blind spot with this guy. I just assumed Deveney would play for Eze.

We have a good right wing back so where we WB play? He is a good right back but he doesn't fit what OG wants which is wing backs. As a player he is better off at West Ham.

Thing is with Kamada is that he's played at international level, and from what I've seen Japan are a tidy side, so he must know something about the game...
That said, in a Palace shirt I wonder what his role is? Other players one knows what role they are supposed to fulfil, but with Kamada I don't see what he is providing - neither support to the defensive midfielders or a link to the forwards. He often is to be found in no mans land with the game passing him by.

That’s what we keep saying, Japan are usually a good side and they always seem to have decent players, Celtic have got 4 excellent ones, so when we signed Kamada I thought he must be pretty good
Obviously now we’ve joked that we must’ve have signed the only crap Japanese player🤣

Glasner is desperately trying to integrate him into the side however, it was clear yesterday that he was chasing shadows, missing challenges and generally looked lost. Fortunately, Glasner recognised this and made him his first substitute. I just hope that he realises that it’s not working for whatever reason and starts playing other players who are more than capable. He really is becoming the weakest link in the team. I thought he would come good but it’s now nearly half a season gone and he’s still struggling to adapt. Forget the wages, think of the team.

Glasner clearly sees something in him and has made positive comments about his contributions. I’ve watched him recently and I think he is used when the opposition overload midfield. Because we play with a back three we can be outnumbered in midfield. Kamada is never going to be a physical player. What you’ll often see is he positions himself to attempt to block passes to 2 players allowing Hughes and Lerma to press the ball carrier. He’s always looking both ways to see where players are moving and trying to cover the options. If we do win the ball he moves to take a pass.
Arsenal were just too good for that to work but he did what he could. It’s not a role Eze could do for sure. I think Olly knows what he’s doing and it’s a pity the lad gets stick all the time.
