Israel v Hamas

Neighborhood bully, he just lives to survive
He's criticized and condemned for being alive
Not supposed to fight back, and have thick skin
He's supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in
He's the neighborhood bully

Neighborhood bully been driven out of every land
He's wandered the earth an exiled man
Seen his family scattered, people hounded and torn
He's always on trial for just being born
He's the neighborhood bully

[Bob Dylan]

Strange post.

I haven’t read a single anti semitic, anti Israeli or anti-Jew post here. I have read some from those who oppose the current Israeli government’s strategy and question Zionism.

Whose fault if it breaks? Impossible to say but the statements by the ultra conservatives in Netanyahu's cabinet indicate they have every intention of resuming the war as soon the hostages are released were not encouraging.
Does this one count as anti-Semitic?

The homeland for the jewish people should have been the United States, they are ideally suited, mutually loathsome and share the same culture, very little, their contribution to the world order violence colonialism mayhem militarism terrorism and genocide to name a few.

On the first full day of peace in Gaza on Monday, rescue workers and civilians began to reckon with the sheer scale of the destruction to the Strip.
Gaza's Civil defence agency – the strip's main emergency response service – said it feared there were more than 10,000 bodies still buried under the vast sea of rubble.

The UN has previously estimated that 60% of structures across Gaza have been damaged or destroyed.
Palestinian health authorities estimate that more than 46,900 people were killed in Gaza during the more than 15 months of war and more than 110,700 were wounded.

According to the UN World Food Programme (WFP), the war has left more than two million Gazans homeless, without income, and completely dependent on food aid to survive.

Why strange. Read back. Hamas are, already not abiding by the terms of hostage release, despite getting 180 returned in exchange for 4! If a ceasefire, wherever, breaks down due to one side not abiding with its terms, whose fault would it be?

It does. I hadn’t read it before though. It’s also anti-USA and sweepingly inaccurate in its generality.

The first statement has some merit though.

The strangeness was the implication that those opposing the approach of the current Israeli government are, by default, all anti-Semitic. It’s just not true. There are many in Israel, Jews and Arabs alike, who oppose the current government.

War and hostage taking tends to unite a population but under that there are great political divisions in Israel. They aren’t all gun toting settlers determined to overrun and occupy the homes of others.

When I spent a week in Jerusalem in September 2023, shortly before Oct 7 atrocity, there were protests going on against the government’s attempts to curtail the powers of the Supreme Court. I saw Israeli Arabs and Jews working happily together, with obvious good nature and humour. It’s not all conflict.

Throughout the Israeli bombardment, the Civil Defence was responsible for pulling the living and the dead from the rubble. Along with Gaza's ambulance service, the rescue workers have taken on some of the most harrowing work in the strip.

And they have paid a steep price. The agency said on Monday that that 99 of its rescue workers had been killed and 319 wounded during the conflict - some with life-changing injuries.

Israel are defending themselves against ruthless enemies who seek their extermination.

Nobody is talking about Israeli citizens criticising the government - you have taken the point out of context.

But it's a fantastic cover and more mental gymnastics to hide the antisemites... "I don't hate Jews, I just hate their government." The trouble is these people can never seem to name an Israeli government they did like.

If you are suggesting I am anti-Semitic I resent such an assertion which is demonstrably untrue. I have had several Jewish friends during my life, one being a girl friend in my teens, and have visited Israel twice. I treated them as I do everyone. As individuals and on their merits.

There is no correlation between being anti Israeli politics and being anti-Semitic. Many Jews are themselves the former.

When something doesn’t exist cover is both unnecessary and impossible.

There are some who would say it’s Hamas who are now defending themselves against ruthless enemies who seek their extermination.

I say that both have contributed to the problems and until that is accepted any kind of solution beyond the extermination of one is impossible.

I have black friends and have been to Brixton and lived in west Croydon.
I still get called racist on here though.
This is a joke of course I’m the leader of the KKK 😂 but of all people, you, using your association to try to prove you couldn’t possibly be antisemitic is laughable. I’m not saying you are but come on, join the grown up world.

I was talking about posters. Read back through the posts of our “friend” from Leeds and Steely's
recent posts and say they were not anti-Semitic

I'm not saying you are at all. Even though you don't think the Israel state should have been created in its historical homeland; you don't like the leaders of Israel and you defend Hamas(!). Saying Jews claim that the land of Israel was given to them by God is not inherently antisemitic, but it can be used as a tool for antisemitism.

If Jews say god gave them the land who can argue. Every time a Muslim commits a murder or rape it’s because their book of god said it was ok to.
Just countering WE tbh.

On 7 October 2023, Hamas Islamist Terrorists carried out an unprovoked Nazi-style attack on Jews and Arabs is Israel — slaughtering babies, committing rape and other sexual violence, burning whole families alive, and taking 240 civilians hostage. They murdered more than 1,200 Israelis during the attack. They paraded naked, mutilated bodies of some of their victims through the streets of Gaza were crowds cheered and spat on corpses. Still, women, and children hostages are held, enduring god knows what brutalities.

Israel continues to fight for its survival, battling on several fronts against the Iranian regime and its terror proxies Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas, and more.

Yet they are portrayed as the bad guys by the Left and other apologists in disgusting anti-semitic language that would lead to cancellation and prosecutions if was aimed at Muslims or people of colour. Stand up to the Nazis.

Not every Jew believes this. It's quite easy to make negative generalisations on a people you don't like.

The God given the land thing can be used in a way that promotes anti-Jewish sentiment. There is an argument to say that Wisbech is. I'll let others decide.

Remember, in the last peace agreement Israel offered all of Gaza and 91-95% of the West Bank to Palestinians (it was rejected without negotiation). They are quite happy to cede land.

I am neither anti-Semitic nor do I think you are racist.

My associations don’t prove that anymore than yours do. Attitudes do.

I have no idea who our friend from Leeds is but having trawled back 6 pages I find nothing from Steeleye that suggests antisemitism. Only compassion for those in Gaza and some criticism of the Israeli government.
