Is the club defrauding loyal supporters?

I gotta say your sister has some (I was gonna say Balls) but I dont want to cause offence & you know what I mean - well done her for saying what a lot of us are thinking.

My guess is the club will respond - we acknowledge that there have been some challenges with ticketing outside of normal season ticket purchases, This has largely been caused by the unprecedented upsurge in demand following our extended time in the PL, this is of course why we are pressing ahead with the main stand upgrade which will provide an extra 8000 seats, we appreciate your support & trust that you will understand & work with us through this difficult period.

Yes indeed, but challenges the Club has caused 100% themselves. They need to address it now, not in future years!

Would not be a difficult period if the club would just address the issue

'Dear Steve, Paul and Sharon

I am writing to communicate my dismay and anger at the current situation with my (and many others') Gold membership. A membership which I have had for many years. In previous seasons it has enabled me to purchase tickets for both myself, family and friends who are also Gold members on linked accounts. As I'm sure you know, tickets for Gold Members go on sale at 10am on previously announced days. This season however (despite having been at my computer and having logged into the booking page at 10am sharp on several of these days), it has become impossible to buy anything other than the odd single seat or restricted view seats. I have therefore frustratingly been unable to attend any games this season. All this renders the so called advantages of having this membership meaningless. It also gives the lie to the advertising you promote which states:

'Gold and Junior Gold Members can take advantage of 72-hour early access to every home Premier League match...'.

There is no advantage here. It doesn't make any difference if there is an advance window of 72 hours, a week, two weeks or a month if there are virtually no seats available. The only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that the club are employing a questionable and potentially dishonest and even fraudulent practice by knowingly advertising a product that cannot fulfil its promise. This matter is compounded by the undeniable fact that many seats that should be available to members are to be found on third party sites at hugely inflated prices. There is clearly something underhand at play here. How are these tickets arriving there? What diligence and investigation is the club (who I am sure is well aware of the matter) conducting to counter this practice?

It is hugely disappointing and aggravating that many loyal supporters of this club have been disenfranchised by this situation but I hope this message and presumably others' might be instrumental in getting the matter dealt with speedily so that we can once again be part of the Selhurst Park experience. If, however, you are unwilling or unable to remedy this situation in good time then I must demand a refund for my Gold membership as currently it is clearly not fit for purpose. I shall be encouraging others to do the same.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely'

Apologies for my ignorance but who are Paul and Sharon. Great letter, will consider doing something similar. Almost there with my letter to Croydon Trading Standards.

Haha, she laughed at this, no offence taken. I agree with your second paragraph but I do think we are entitled to an explanation. The club can obviously do what it likes with their seats but don't pretend membership is the way to secure tickets. There are too many not getting anything and what are the chances of two seats together? For me personally, this is not a problem but for others, who want to take their children, it seems almost impossible as a member, yet the tout sites have lots.

I’ve struggled recently to buy tickets for home games being told they are sold out very quickly after being put on sale.Ive just looked on football tickets net and I could buy up to 10 tickets for the Fulham game dotted around the ground for a mere £800 ,a gold membership seems pretty worthless,I’ll be calling the box office on Monday about this.

The club and CPISA have done some work on this area already this season. However there is more to do. A great deal more Gold memberships, season ticket plus and Junior Gold memberships were sold this year, not sure whether the club had set any targets or not?
This means when tickets go on sale each time for home matches there are an awful lot of people who enjoy early access.
As for the many ticket agencies who all claim to have huge numbers of tickets available but in reality they mostly share access to the same tickets.
CPISA showed the club 100's of available tickets for Palace matches from ticket agencies earlier this year the club did some great work and season ticket holders were warned and some lost their season tickets this season. This work is ongoing and obviously needs repeating again.
Also the ticket reselling scheme needs looking into. We think the scheme should operate for all matches not just for those that are sold out. The club should also increase the number of windows available from 2 to 3 over the season for supporters to recoup their money.

Yes, early access to precisely nothing.

Sorry Pierre but this is not the case....somehow they are getting in first by some margin.....they have access well in advance of membership windows....that's why there is sod all left for members

We don't know yet how many memberships have been sold, so don't know how many people are after what amount of tickets.
We intend to find out.
However it is not an easily fixable problem going forwards if huge numbers of memberships have been sold in addition to the number of available tickets each match.
CPISA just want to try understand the clubs thought processes and procedures in all this.
To try and restrict it to a managable fair system going forwards.

Well I hope in your conversations with the club you make it clear to the club that with these memberships they have sold fans a complete pup.....this is something they can address straight away....refund membership costs which it turns out are a complete con.....I personally think its nothing short of fraud.....I am not the only one by any means

Paul McGowan is the 'Head of Ticketing' and Sharon Lacey is the 'Director of Operations'. I have also forwarded the email to James Woodroof the 'Chief Marketing and Communications Officer'.

So todays news from Main stand H Block. The four guys directly in front of me obtained seats together once again from livefootballtickets.com. With booking fees they paid £650 each. Crazy. Not only that they completed their purchases a week before the window opened for Gold and Season Ticket Plus memberships.

They were obviously football tourist types of middle aged Eastern European in origin who took delight in spending the whole match taking photos / videos of themselves, the crowd, the pitch the players and then more of themselves

I think that loyalty is the way forward, so as in cup final tickets you have different waves of selling. Those with 10000 to 7000 points get first allocation at 10, then 6999 to 3000 in at 11.

Sounds like some rather expensive selfies there.

But get this, they could have got better value for their money watching the football if they hadn't arrived until 10 minutes into the game, and not disappeared off 5 minutes before half time only returning over 5 minutes into the second half.

I would think specific examples like this should be raised on our behalf by the Palace Independent Supporters Association.

I am a Gold member and my son is Junior Gold member and this season so far we have not been able to buy two tickets next to each other for any of the home games on sale, despite logging in within 5 minutes of the sale window opening to Gold members. In previous seasons this has never been an issue. Something is definitely afoot 🙁
Same with me and my son. The view was to get him and myself to more matches now he is 9 but because we now live far from Selhurst Park, it's difficult due to paying for the trains. We wanted to pick and choose our games really, but we can't get tickets to any at the moment. I need to get him to Selhurst Park as all he talks about is Man City. The days of taking your son to a game to get them "hooked" are long gone, unless I take out a loan to get season tickets. At the moment, I really have been priced out of going to Palace. I simply can't afford it and that breaks my heart sometimes.

However, if you are being denied the opportunity to buy tickets then you have no way of building up Loyalty Points....
