Is the club defrauding loyal supporters?

And where exactly did this website manage to get these 400 tickets from?

This is what the club has to address in an open manner

Well I think this is what hits the nail on the head, if there is only x amount of tickets available for y amount of Gold club members and this ratio is so bad that it's restricted to one ticket per person, then these websites can't be hoovering up tickets by exploiting legitimate means of getting tickets. They would need 400 Gold memberships (if I'm understanding this right) be able to get single tickets together somehow and all before everyone else logs on at 10am. Doesn't sound very plausible does it?

Which can only mean that these websites are getting their tickets either directly from the club, from ticketmaster, from a corporate sponsor (not sure that one is an option to be honest) or someone at the club is giving them away without the clubs knowledge, and I'm not sure I believe that last one as that would mean a complete breakdown of any control over the tickets.

So unfortunately it does beg the assumption that the club know all about it and are probably the ones providing the tickets privately, but publically stating how bad it is and they know nothing about it. Probably why they're so elusive on information and that everyone is "too busy" to try and do something about it.

What would be good to know is the curve of Gold Membership sales - has this suddenly increased since ticket sales came under ticketmaster or was it always this high?

It is only since ticketmaster has become involved that it is virtually impossible to get more than the odd single ticket with a Gold Membership.

I'd like to see the numbers of Gold Memberships by season from the last cup final year (when it was easy to get four tickets together with a couple of Gold memberships) to this season where it's a struggle to get any.

If the Gold Membership numbers have suddenly jumped up when ticketmaster came on board then it could have nothing to do with the club and could be due to an IT manipulation of the ticketing purchasing process to favour certain login's - Whose to say ticketmaster didn't purchase a few thousand Gold Memberhips as part of their business strategy and are using them to 'legitimately' buy tickets - would explain how tickets disappear from other Gold Members baskets as they would have the IT capability to reassign tickets due to failed payment etc.

Selling on a match ticket at four or five times the face value the membership cost is recovered very quickly and if the game doesn't sell out then the ticket is returned via the resale site at face value on match day - Anyone know if seats next to each other come up for sale on match day - probaly 3-4 hours before kick off?

Club profits by additional memberships and guaranteed match day ticket sales - ticketmaster by inflated ticket prices and all looks legit to other Gold membership holders as 'the club has so many Gold Members'

Only way to flush this out would be for all legit gold members to agree to not purchase match tickets for one game when they went on sale (some sort of Gold Membership ticket boycott) - No idea how anyone would ever organise this though but with Social media not impossible.

Would also be interesting to see if this is happening at other clubs as well - where ticketmaster controls the ticket sales.

The club claim the tickets on these resell sites are fraudulent, but they're clearly not as there are very few people complaining that their tickets didn't work. If it's true that 2500 tickets are made available per game to gold members then the fact that at least one-fifth of them are still showing up on resell sites is a disgrace. If they really wanted to stop it then they could just say tickets can't be resold and you have to show ID with your ticket at the gates to prove it's your ticket (like at Glastonbury, for example). So long as the games keep selling out I doubt the club are that fussed.

You just have to look around certain areas at the club on matchday to confirm these tickets, and we are talking many many hundreds, are not fraudulent, genuine tickets being sold at vastly inflated prices.

All the club needs to do is threaten to cancel any tickets not purchased through the club (including Ticketmaster) and at face value.

When I started this thread I was very suspicious of what Ticketmaster might be up to. The more its gone on the more my suspicions are now with the club. They need to come clean on a few things now.

regardless of all thticketmaster stuff, £48 as a minimum to sit in our beloved sh*t heap is outrageous - we should be able to sit with a decent view for £40, or a few quid less. Way over-priced and unnecessarily so, I'll be lucky to go to three games this season - I'm being priced out.

A big bonfire display in Kent had decided to put an effigy of Ticketmaster on their bonfire this year!

Could be a solution, as awkward as it may be. I really do wish the club would get to grips with this.

That may be but it still doesn't mean that it is not too expensive and/or good value for money!

In my opinion my season ticket is NOT too expensive and is good value for money for premier league football.

I will say again, no one is saying your season ticket is too expensive, that was not the point of the thread.

I know, but after 12 pages zzzzz I thought it needed mentioning again 😀

The point of the thread was asking if the club is stitching loyal fans up? Well the answer is still NO

I don't think this has anything to do with season tickets, it's do with the paid for gold membership and are supporters being mislead with claims you can buy reasonable additional tickets if you are a member.

At the moment the answer to whether they are being mislead would appear to be yes.
