Is Glasner the problem?

I'm surprised you even know who Plato was but no one is saying you have to be super intelligent to be a football fan. Just a grown up. You wouldn't but a car and march back into the showroom demanding a refund a month later because a couple of things have gone wrong with it. Or lets say you are the type that would. You'd be giving all the sales staff there a good laugh. How is maybe still wanting him gone muted? Explain that please.
And as for him picking Kamada. This is just so juvenile. You find one thing you're not happy with that you know most of us agree with and keep going on and on and on about it. Has it occurred to you Glasner might just drop him if we sign a replacement in Jan? You know, what with Deveney being a great prospect but vastly inexperienced, Wharton injured and Eze not available it might have missed your notice that there are limited options. I dont know anyone who wants Kamada to play but all people do on here is use that one issue as a stick to beat Glasner with. Change the record.
Jeez that's insulting. everyone knows who he is.

Shouldn’t this be in transfer talk. Aristotle and Plato will hopefully come in and replace Kamada and Schlupp. Then performances will be:
"WE ARE WHAT WE REPEATEDLY DO.
EXCELLENCE, THEN, IS NOT AN ACT, BUT A HABIT."

If we are talking with reference to the classics… may I offer that OG according to some is Damocles with his sword dangling precariously above his head. 😂

Merry Christmas!

If you compare (estimated) squad values: Premier League 24/25

By squad value, any position above 12th would be a bonus. To expect more is to dream a little (or a lot). We all got a little entitled by the end of last season but those last 10 games were as much the planets aligning as any genius from the manager or players. We had the element of surprise (none of the teams knew exactly who they were up against).

I don't think Glasner is the problem. I think the business model is the problem. If you want CPFC in the top 10 for the entire season we need the squad shored up with players valued £20-40m who can score consistently from their position. The current depth doesn't allow for the flexibility of tactics like say Arsenal.

To expect Glasner to have achieved a continuation of the results from the end of last season is unrealistic. To expect him to build a new team that goes above 10th with the funding he has to hand is also unrealistic. The only way to achieve the top spots is to sell out to a foreign billionaire and even then it is not guaranteed.

Four teams with a squad value less than ours are above us. Brentford Fulham Bournemouth are punching well above their weight. Their managers are doing a great job.

Thomas Frank succeeded Dean Smith and Brentford only won 1 of his first 10 games in charge.
Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth only won 1 of his first 10 games at the helm.
Marco Silva came to Fulham after being relegated at Hull and been removed of his duties at Everton.
Managerial fortunes can change !

Indeed - a year ago de Zerbi was flavour of the month and Roy was embarking on downward spiral.
And yet we finished above Brighton and de Zerbi parted company with Brighton.

Let’s see where we all end up come seasons end

On Christmas Day last year, Brighton were in 9th place on 27 pts.
We were 16th on 18 pts. When Mr Hodgson departed in February after 24 games we were still 16th but had accumulated 24 pts.
We finished a place above Brighton in the table with our team under Glasner accumulating 24 pts in his 13 games in charge to the end of the season.

After 17 games Forest are fourth in the table Bournemouth fifth. When was the last time we were fifth in the table at Christmas? My memory isn’t that good!

No team is relegated or promoted at Christmas, no prizes are won at this juncture of the season.
Both Nottm Forest and Bournemouth have only played 17 games in a 38 game season.
Blackpool under Holloway were mid-table in the PL at Christmas, finished 19th and were relegated.
We will have to wait to discover the landscape at the 'Business End' of the current campaign.

Let's be fair here: Bournemouth or Notts Forest are not going to be relegated.

True relegation candidates are few this season: Leicester, Wolves, Southampton, Ipswich, Everton, maybe West Ham, us.

I was not suggesting that Bournemouth and Nottm Forest were likely to be relegated, merely insinuating that perhaps they will not maintain their elevated position.

I do not envisage Wolves or W.Ham being relegated.

I guess my point was that there are not many real candidates for relegation. There's a huge divide in the league now.

And I’m sure the fans of Forest & Bournemouth are having a crap Christmas worried that they are going to implode in January and eventually be overtaken by Wolves West Ham and Palace who will all come storming up the table

I mean we are only 2 points worse off than this time last season. Would be interesting to see how we fair the last few seasons. Id imagine it would be similar.

We usually pick up second half of the season.

Only time I remember we had a great start to the season was under pardew then we couldn't win in the league after Christmas until that Norwich game. But we also got to the cup final 😅

This is all entirely true. However, I had a look at our fixture list for the season.
If I were generous/optimistic we'd get about 19-24 more points this season. I got it looking pretty realistic at 21 more points - clearly that's only 37 for the season - although I do suspect that would keep us up.
Putting us to lose against teams like Forest and Bournemouth and draw against teams like Everton - which seems realistic enough - I could only work out us getting a similar number of points we already have. Which would give us something like 32-35 points - which may not be good enough.
We already need a win or two against sides that we won't be fancied against.
Frankly, crucial that we beat Southampton.
