Is Glasner the problem?

Totally agree. His sacking at this point would be plain stupid.
Change for the sake of change and bring in one of Pardew,Hodgson, or Moyes??
No thank you, give OG, the run of games with Wharton back at his influential best.

I can see the argument for saying see how he gets on with a full strength squad. However, saying sacking him would be stupid is ignoring facts a bit. He’s mustered 1 win from 13 games. 1 win. Our worst ever start to a Premier League season despite a helpful fixture list.

Another perspective might be that he’s been very fortunate to have a board who’ve been as patient as they have been.

Glasner should be given enough time to play Wharton for say five games before any decisions on him are made. So long as Kamada doesnt return we will be mid table by then.

Agree. I've seen and heard enough to like what Glasner is trying to do. Moving from Royball to a more expansive attractive brand was always going to take some time.

This season has been a mess, but I think thats mainly been due to injuries and other influences. We are still not in trouble, and cant see why we'd get rid any time soon.

Win against Ipswich, a point against city and then muller the weed!

End of last season was great. I’d actually be happier if we were playing expansive, attacking football but this season we aren’t. We are actually playing stilted and disjointed football. We have the second lowest goals total in the Premier League

i thought we had found the right manager last February and haven’t changed my mind.

This season has been littered by individual errors, horrendous misses, untimely injuries etc.

Almost every game has been competitive and quite frankly with Olise still in the side we would have been pushing towards a European spot.

the Brighton game will be pivotal as we will play them when they are in a CL position but they are definitely beatable! In recent seasons they have run rings around us even if the score hasn’t said that!

That could be our reset moment!

Its going to be a transition. Not an overnight fix. We've drastically reduced the average of the squad over the last couple of seasons. We've made some profit on players, and now need to build some depth to the squad.

We are not playing how we ideally want to be, and nor do we have the points total we'd like. But have faith in the process 🙂

As have the Boards of Ipswich, Southampton and Wolves been.

Another perspective is that our Board share the view that Glasner is not the root cause of the problems we have had.

But, as I have repeatedly said, that stance is unlikely to continue unless our results improve.

A transition is fine if it leads to something. I could see that argument for sure for the first few games. We are now at the stage though where if we are in transition much longer it will be transitioning to the Championship. We are 13 games in, over a third of the League season. We have one win. We’ve been clearly the better team in only one, maybe two games. It’s time for results

A few games, your patience knows no bounds!

We are probably in year 2 of a 4 year plan (put back with a season of Roy). You dont just wake up one day and go from a low block, low possession, to expansive football.

If the season finished now, we'd be safe. Now out of the relegation zone, and nearly a fully fit squad. Onwards and upwards.

I am not sure wanting more than one win every 13 games is being especially impatient

Or one defeat from our last six, when we were down to 10 men. Wins against Spurs and Villa, draws against Wolves, Villa and Newcastle isn't too shabby given our injuries. Also second fewest goals conceded in the bottom half of the table and fewer conceded than Brentford and Man City in the top half.

Scoring has been the problem. However, five goals from our opening 8 league games versus six goals in our most recent five games suggests that is improving too. And when Eze returns to form and Wharton returns from injury we'll only get better.

Stats can be used to prove anything, of course, but I'm in full agreement that it would be madness to sack him, especially given that he has a track record of starting seasons slowly before taking his teams up the table.

After watching that game Saturday even Glasner's biggest critic has to grudgingly admit every one of those players are playing for him.
For me, there are just 2 ingredients left to get us up the table. A fit Wharton and a finisher. OG says Wharton may be ready for the Brighton game. We are all hearing murmerings that a striker is set to be brought in in January. JPM's purple patch looks to be over. I hope I'm wrong and I hope N'ketiah starts earning his money too.

I believe deep down our board are aware they are at least culpable for our current position given we did not bring in the players Glasner wanted/needed until the day the window shut. When you factor in Glasner was very clear he wanted a pre season with everyone. He only met most of them for the first time a month into the season!

You mean Nketiah and Sarr, he knew Lacroix as managed him before. So thats 2 players in a squad, hardly most of them!

Oliver Glasner has expressed his frustration with Crystal Palace's summer transfer window, sharing that the club must not repeat the same mistakes in January.

Reflecting on the first 13 games of the season, Glasner said: “We started the season with five or six players who aren’t here anymore."

“It’s always game by game. Improving how we want to play. There’s lots of space to improve in different situations.

“We give the ball away too easily in too many situations. We miss too many chances. But also we need to encourage the players to work on it - this is what they are doing.

“It’s not that we have a big summary, there’s no time to make a summary on the first 13 games.

“It’s pretty clear that how we acted in the summer shouldn’t be repeated in January.

"We should do much better altogether. This is what we are preparing.

Mateta is just fine. He's an absolute weapon of a centre forward. Holds the ball up and brings others into play incredibly well. And has shown that when given service, he will score. He'll even score occasionally all by himself. He's not the problem.

I am curious to know what input, if any, OG had regarding the evaluation and departure of these players.
Sometimes I get the impression that Parish & Co and the manager are not reading from the same script.

It wasn't Grudgingly, i was pleased that he had a good game tactically, even better to see the players behind him, i would have sacked him 4/5 games ago, lets hope mine would have been the wrong one, but the comments about the previous window seem he isn't willing to stay silent on what he thinks had gone wrong, putting the blame Squarely on Freedman and Parish.

His final sentence is encouraging.

It at least indicates that the club is preparing to act earlier in the January window and avoid the mistakes of the summer window.
Dare I hope that we may have a deal or two in place, but just have to wait until January to rubber stamp them?
In a previous conference Glasner referred to wanting to work with new signings in the first week of January and having them available immediately.

Now I’ve supported Palace long enough to know that disappointment often follows hope.
But if a disappointing January window follows a disappointing summer window (with potential promises broken by the club) I foresee problems between the club and Glasner.
That’s if he hasn’t been sacked by then of course!
