Is Glasner the problem?

We are sleep walking into relegation, why anybody cant see that is beyond me, i would hate us to get relegated though neglect and bad decision making, when we should be doing much better, 5 goals in 11 games FFS. injuries although they don't help are a poor excuse for organisation.

Sadly,agree.
Interesting to see what pundit Chris Sutton makes of it all:

To an extent, I agree in as much as we always seem to be heading towards a New Year firefighting.

However, dealing with the points you raise ;

Poor pre-season - having seven senior players unable to participate due to the summer international tournaments was a disruptor for sure. I'm not quite sure what the club could do about that. I went to a number of the pre season games and the players available were doing ok.

Late signings - the transfer market is complex. Palace can't simply wield the cheque book and do deals. It does seem to take them longer to complete than other clubs though and I suspect that's due to Palace trying to avoid paying top dollar at the beginning of the window. In a perfect world the manager would have his squad for the season in place before the new season starts. But it doesn't work like that currently.

Poor signings - Kamada certainly comes into that category at the moment. And I can't see that situation improving. Sarr and Nketiah have been disappointing but with previous experience at EPL level, I am hoping they come good. Would I have signed either of them if it was up to me ? - no.

Sicknotes - part and parcel of football. We seem to have been unlucky when it comes to our players picking up injuries on international duty. Johnstone, Olise and Wharton notably. Eze and Doucoure seem injury prone and Lerma seems to be going down that path too.

We need reinforcements come January. Depending on which clickbait site you go on we have either plenty of money to spend / a very limited budget / have to sell before we buy. You can call Parish a '' chancer '' but we have to face financial facts. And I don't see how you can hold him accountable for '' all those poor decisions '', most of which he has no control over.

The club has not been in a good place recently, but with only eleven games gone it's too soon to write us off.
Thanks. You appear to have fleshed out my basic points with some accurate observations. And although it's only opinion, I would say it is like that - the table doesn't lie. While those other sides around us have moved onwards and upwards, we are worse off this season than ever, apart from the start under FdB. That's how far we've progressed...

There’s a long way to go and as we all know a couple of wins and everyone’s happy again as I keep saying. BUT they always say don’t take any notice of the table until it sorts itself out after about 10 games. Well we’re in the bottom 3 after 11 and I also repeat myself saying, once you get in that hole down the bottom approaching Christmas it can be hard to get out, once confidence goes and suddenly you need a win or two just to get out of the bottom 3 pressure starts to build.
Also much as I like Ollie and we’ve seen how we CAN play under him, I always remember Neil Warnock getting the sack because he only had 19 points at Christmas, are we going to get anywhere near 19 points by the big day?

I respect the view of those who say we still have lots of games left and players to return. I hope they are right.

What I think is being underestimated is that our fixture list to start the season was as friendly as the fixtures are going to be all season. That was our chance to pick up points and we didn’t. So we are now in a position where we need to win a third of our games from this point to stay up. We now have fixtures where even if we had a full strength squad and good form I would expect us to lose most of them. So I think we will get to Xmas still needing to win 8 or so games which is starting to get close to half of them.

I also can’t help but look at Glasner’s results without Olise which are terrible.

What you have said factually about Glasner's results without Olise is irrefutable.
The results are there in black and white.

Those defending Glasner will produce a list of mitigating circumstances, but sadly the league table doesn't factor these in.

We've managed one win this season v Spurs, when everything clicked in the performance on the day.
Can we repeat this on a more consistent basis rather than as an exception to the norm?

I'll feel more confident when I can see back to back league wins and more games where we don't struggle to score goals.
8 goals scored in 11 games is shocking , particularly when you struggle to keep clean sheets.

We've had such a bad start to the season, and such a tough run of games pre-Christmas, I do foresee a season of struggle.

Nonetheless, we've only played 11 games as others have pointed out.

I see the Ipswich away game as very significant.
Of the games coming up, this is one that we'll be expected to win against a fellow struggler.

The answer to the question is, NO Glasner is not the problem. This team could easily string 5 or 6 wins together once we get our key players back and the ones that are finally back getting them match sharp. I’m not worried at all, we will pull away from the bottom 3 after Christmas and we will be fine. COYP 🦅

I'm with you on this Gary. Glasner has had a difficult start to the season through no fault of his. The team has shown considerable improvement after the awful pre-season, international breaks and injury woes.

He has done a great job pulling things together and I am confident he will keep us in the PL after a rampaging second half of the season.

Resounding no! Look at his bench options today. One attacking option being fat Jeff. No one else on that bench capable of making an attacking difference.

When one of our signings, Nketiah, is back, it gives our Manager another headache rather than an option.

This lays squarely at Duggy and the Board. Pathetic as ever in the summer.

Looking back over the last two or three days comments on hear and most believed there was no way we COULD win let alone would. Villa were expected my most to wipe the floor with us. They on a mini bad run played their strongest possible team and came to win. We with STILL a depleted team matched them and were the better team in the first half. The penalty (though we've all seen them given) was harsh and justice was done when Hendo saved it. The confidence levels of both Sarr and Devenny will have exploded after yesterday. Sarr and JPM linked together better than they have ever done.
On the contrary from 'sleepwalking into relegation' I'd turn that ridiculous comment on its head and say we have now lost just 1 game in 5! The doom and gloomers are sleepwalking into a turn around!

Villa are no mugs. A draw was probably a fair result but on first half performance we could easily have won it. The only reason we tailed off in the second half was tiredness set in and a lack of options off the bench. If Eze for example had been available to play the last 20 mins we'd have won that.

Glasner is not the problem. He is pulling out decent performances with limited personel. I believe our next win will come from either the Newcastle game or at Ipswich. Maybe even both. The way City are collapsing I would bet against us getting something against them either. Players coming back, new players confidence boosted by both goals and improving performances, getting a point at a top 4 team that was clearly trying to arrest their own slide. Better times are on the way regardless of the negative amongst us that seem determined to see Glasner as the wrong man for the job. For the life of me I cant figure out why. Any other manager in the same circumstances would have struggled to get better results this season
