Is Glasner the problem?

For once I'm grateful for the intervention of the otherwise useless UEFA Nations cup, to give the team a chance to recover and regroup. We simply must have a squad resembling our first team to stand a hope of getting us moving again. Further failure will put OG in dire jeopardy.

Who on earth would pick up the pieces when he's gone?
Moyes is the name most cited by those here that want Glasner out ha ha ha.
Anyone but Glasner apparently.

A stupendous player in Olise departed, many might deem him 'World Class'.
Anderson's use of the ball was very effective in offensive phases. He was part of the Anderson, Guehi, Richards trio in central defence and not only has he departed, Richards has been injured, accordingly the defence has had a new look.
Wharton so impressive last season has had his injury woes.
The acquisitions in pre-season have not delivered and there are those questioning the decisions made in this respect.

Our current league position and points attained is disappointing but there was positivity after the Tottenham and A.Villa victories and the draw at Wolves. A defeat with a severely depleted squad was inevitable.

Roy is just settling down to a beautiful evening watching the sunset from the veranda of the Seychelles get away that he and Sheila have been staying at, when his mobile goes off:
"What now?" thinks a disgruntled Roy, just as he was going to take a sip of his organic single estate cocoa beverage.
"Hello, Roy Hodgson speaking, how can I help you?"
"Hello Roy, it's me!"
"Steve? Steve Parish? I changed my number just to avoid you! How did you get my number? What do you want now?"
"I'm in a bit of bother Roy, and I was hoping that you can help an old friend out?"
"I've been following the club's fortunes Steve, and it's a great pity. I saved your sorry arse enough in the past and now I'm enjoying my retirement. I'm done with football management Steve. You could try Big Sam or David Moyes in desperation. Anyway, must go, bye!"
Roy takes a sip of his organic single estate cocoa. Life is good.

If Roy still has his marbles, your story rings true.

Glasner s points ratio is currently 0.64 a game .
If ,and its a big if, we were to get 4 points from next 5 games it would be 0.68 .
The worst PL manager was Scott Parker ,I believe at 0.77 .Although I thought it was Paul Jewel .
Glasner will not make Xmas unless the club plan on spending 50/60 million in January to back him ,which isn't going to happen .
I wouldn't bet the house on him getting the sack ,but it is so on the cards .
I think it will come down to the performance against Villa, not necessarily the result .Could be the same V Newcastle .
If we lose that then it's all over ,especially with Isaac finding form.

That's this season. His overall win percentage in the PL is 0ver 40%. This season there are two teams below us so he can't be the worst manager (in terms of points per game).

Historically Parish is pretty patient. Roy and Pardew were both given plenty of time to try and improve things while Vieira possibly went earlier than he might of done because (if rumours are true) he stopped responding to Parish. If we hadn't had those three positive performances before the Fulham game then I think we might be in a different position right now, but I think those games showed there's still some fight in the Austrian. The board won't have read too much into the Fulham game. If things don't improve when key players return then I think the noose will begin to tighten.

What’s his win percentage without Olise? Last season is last season. The points don’t carry over. We are in deep trouble and Glasner hasn’t shown that he has any sort of plan to get us out of it. At this stage we have nothing to lose by getting in a new manager and an awful lot to gain

I disagree. his plan was beginning to work, but he has been hampered by (in the most part) Injuries to the wrong people at the wrong time.

Statistics can show many things. And in this case, his points per game stat tries to make you believe we've been wholly sh*t, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

Some of those injuries were caused by the decision to play a full strength team in the Carabao Cup. That was an odd decision by OG given our league position.

Stats can indeed show many things but in this case a sample size of 11 games and with every stat looking pretty dire it’s fair to conclude they tell a pretty clear story. The stats that matter are we have 7 points which is worse than 17 other clubs and we have 8 goals which is worse than 18 other clubs. Based on what I’ve seen we’ve been the clearly better team in only one league game all season. It’s just not working

I was just pointing out the stat shared is not accurate.

With regard to not showing he has a plan to get us out of it, well what were the results against Spurs, Villa and Wolves? Are you suggesting we should ignore the improvement and instead focus on when we weren't at it? That seems an odd way to look at things. Would another manager have got a result against Fulham with no senior midfielders available? Players being out of form, injuries, fitness issues and VAR have all hampered us this season and personally I think it's easy just to blame Glasner. Your last line is just a cliché which holds little meaning. We have everything to lose if the new manager is clueless and upsets the squad and is a dislikeable character.

isn't that what we have at the moment?

So how long do you give it? Until Xmas? Looking at the fixtures we could well not pick up another point between now and then.

The result against Spurs was good but one good performance in 11 doesn’t cut it. I am not sure the result against Wolves was that great. Not a disaster but going to a team with no wins and in even more disarray than us and getting a draw isn’t a massive cause for celebration.

I admire the faith in OG and I really hope you are right and I am wrong. I’d love nothing more than that.

Lennie Lawrence probably thought he same but he's been dragged back in.
Shame Roy's not eligible to be US president - he's getting towards the age range.

I’m torn, changing my mind by the day.

I look at the record this season, the strange decisions, the reluctance to revise playing systems and feel that a change could be beneficial.

However, there’s a nagging thought that Glasner could be another Thomas Franck or Andoni Ariola - admirable and progressive managers who punch above their weight.
Franck has had to contend with the loss of their best player,Toney, through suspension and transfer and look stronger than ever.
Similarly, Bournemouth lost their top scorer, Solanke, but if anything are playing better than ever.

None of us know for sure, perhaps the board feel that they haven’t backed Glasner sufficiently and will stick with him and ensure that he gets the backing in January.
It would seem, at least to me, a retrograde step to e.g bring in Moyes.

With our points total, a third of the season gone and our upcoming fixture list we are clearly in for a struggle this season, regardless of who the manager is.

My point was we were showing improvement then we had a catastrophic squad crisis for Fulham. If some key players return and we don't improve then he can have no arguments, but to get rid of him when things were just starting to look up would seem odd to me. I'm not saying I have 100% faith in OG, just that I have seen what he can get out of the team and I really want to see more of that again.

That’s fair enough. I hope you are right. We’d all love nothing more than to get back to some of the football and results we saw at the back end of last season

With regard to the penultimate paragraph above I've just read a report from the usually well informed journalist, David Ornstein, suggesting that Glasner retains the support of the club with an acknowledgement that the summer window could have utilised available funds better.
