Is Glasner the problem?

We’ve played 18% of our league games already and still haven’t been the better team in any of them or looked like winning. Worryingly OG clearly doesn’t know his best 11 or formation which just isn’t good enough this far into the season. At this point I think we have to reluctantly conclude the manager is a big part of the problem.

Glasner needs to revert to 4-3-3, as we get outnumbered and overrun in midfield every week. Other managers know how to nullify our system, if you cant control or compete in midfield its difficult to win.

Glasner will be the weak link if he sticks with his wing-back formation which clearly isn’t working this season.

Munoz isn’t playing as well as he did last season and is now injured anyway.

Mitchell has been totally useless this season on the left. His crossing must be the worst in the Premiership and Eze isn’t getting anything from him. He needs to be shoved firmly backed as a traditional left back where he’s good.

I think we’ll see a re-gig of the formation.

After the last 20 of the Uniterd game a lot of us thought that Sarr and Eze either side of Nketiah with a sulking Mateta on the bench would be the best attacking combo - but Sarr wasn't good yesterday. The break will hopefully give Doucoure and Wharton to get back to fitness, I thinkl that's key to our improvement - I don't like to offer solutions to managers but I agree that we need to revert to a back four, with Clyne as right back bcos Munoz is Mitchell in reverse - great wing back dodgy full back. What combination of four attackers is anyone's guess, maybe a 4-2-2-2 with Nketiah and Mateta as a duo and two from Eze, Kamada and Sarr behind - that might get better form from
Kamada. And now that Franca's broken down hopefully we can get Rak-Saki back in January.

I think the problem is both the system and some of our 1st 11 players were under performing. Eze, Guehi, Mitchell, Munoz and Wharton were not at their best.
On Henderson, his deliveries were awful so instead of kicking the ball to the opposition half, he seemed to want to slow play up with the back three. We also like to take short freekicks. All these sideways/back passings give time to the opposition defence to regroup - a reminder of the time under Viera and Hodgson. We haven't had the quick transition from defence to attack so far this season.

Disagree on TM. He's not great, but not the issue here.

Really don't think Eze helps him out, at least 3 times on sat TM has the ball, 2 defenders on him trying to bring the ball upfiled, and instead of Eze coming line to give him an easy pass, he's floating around in the middle of the park.

I agree Mr R. Eze is definitely not on his game at the moment. Something doesn't feel right.

We don't have a leader. Maybe Doucoure when he's fit but we need someone to step up, lead by example and be the player the others don't want to let down.

I think it’s more down to the midfield 2, it got better in the 2nd half especially when Hughes came on and Liverpool then had less room to pass through us. I also don’t think the back 3 are fully confident yet plus it doesn’t help it being a different 3 every match. Glasner hasn’t helped himself with some of the formations he’s put out as well. I’m hoping we get a settled balanced team soon and until then Glasner is on shaky ground?

In the old days a player like Hughes would have had no problem lasting a game without a booking.

Nowadays, every tackle is deemed a booking.

This means Hughes walks a tightrope every game and e.g a booking in the first half means that he can't afford to make a mistimed tackle in the second half which inevitably has a consequence on his effectiveness.
His misfortune is not playing in the 1970s.

Personally I like him to be invlolved on matchdays as he helps to make the team tick with his unfussy style and he's a good reader of the game.

I like him too but I'd like him a lot more if he had a bit more pace and scored more than 1 goal a season.

The problem is primarily down to losing Olise. I just watched Bayern's latest game and their goals came from a corner that followed a shot he had tipped over; a follow-up to a snap shot from Olise that the goalie parried; and a typical left footed curler with hardly any backlift from the edge of the area. He got taken off in the 90th minute and Bayern immediately gave up the tying goal

I know we couldn't do anything about him going but the replacement players that we have got in Franca, Nketiah and Sarr are all players with a proven pretty low ceiling. I'd rather we had taken a flyer on one of the younger players that was being considered and hung on to Ayew

It is as plain as a pikestaff that the Glasner 'Honeymoon' is well and truly over with disgruntled supporters aiming shot and shell in his direction.
In terms of results, i have a 'Feeling in my water' that our points tally will increase after the Nottm Forest and Tottenham encounters.

I know this is really harsh but Eze has probably cost us 5 points this season with his terrible finishing. He saved us a point at Chelsea but he should have scored against United and again yesterday. His poor finishing is costing us games. He has an xG of 2.74 but only one goal. He is our most important attacking player now Olise has left so if he's not performing we're in trouble. I'm not sure what changing the manager does if our forwards can't finish? We have some top players so hopefully a lot of this is just down to confidence with Eze and the team as a whole and once that first win comes we can get going.
