Is Glasner the problem?

Why's that Lanzo? Just because he was at today's game looking dapper doesn't mean he was having an interview with Mr P afterwards. Roy was there too, and despite Sutton trying to destabilise us, he'll definitely not be our next manager either.
I just have a feeling that Parish likes someone he knows, Coppells first spell, Tony Pulis, Steve Bruce and Freedman were the 4 best managers i have seen, IMO, then Pardew/Hodgson would come next, i was too young to give an opinion on Bert Head, Worst i have seen, well, a lot to pick from, Burley, Taylor, Holloway Vieira, i just have a uneasy feeling about Glasner like i had with Vieira.

FFS! I’d rather we went down and rebuilt with Glasner than suffer Pardew/Hodgson again!

There are lots of problems, injuries, loss of form, gaps in the squad etc and my feeling is that Glasner is the solution rather than the problem. However, he had the reputation of being flexible despite his preference for three at the back and so far has persisted with a formation that isn’t working with the players he has available and is making some of them (Guehi, Eze, Kamada) look distinctly average.

I’d be sad to see him go as he could be great for us given time and has been unlucky but he needs to change to 4-4-2 quickly, play a consistent back 4, gain more control in midfield, and give the Mateta/Nketiah partnership a chance to develop. If he persists with what he’s doing he will be gone and the next guy in will make those changes. We have a decent squad and will be fine. I fear more for the manager than the team at the moment.

OG put out the team that most of us have been crying out for yesterday, and the first half was our worst performance so far. He wasn't the new Guardiola last season and he's not the new Peter Taylor now - our great run of form last season was mainly down to all our players (apart from Doucoure) finally being fit and available - once Wharton recovers from this nagging injury and we get Doucoure back we will improve - the back three is starting to gel with Lecroix improving every game, but we still haven't found the right combination in attack, Eze, Eddie, JPM, Sarr and Kamada - there's a winning combination in there somewhere, West Ham fans who saw Kamada play for Frankfurt say he was brilliant. But if we are going to play with wing backs then we need an upgrade on Mitchell, and OG will have considered Schlupp but obviously thinks it would not improve things.

It makes you wonder why managers get so tied in to a formation that they are so unwilling to change.
OG obviously knows more about football than we do so why persist with a system which patently isn't working? Maybe in training but not when the opposition is set up to play differently.
Confidence in a system is one thing but surely not if it's consistently failing with the available players.

Last season teams had no idea to play us when we changed formation. That and a lot of teams has their flip flops on.

This season the teams have all done their homework on us. We have to change it up, back to basics and get tighter. Maybe we loose one attacker out of the front 3 and put in a defender or extra midfielder. Pick up a few 1-0 wins old school.

And regardless whether you share his politic opinion or not OG should stop on commentating political matters and concentrate on what he is paid for!

I dont think anyone with any idea though that you top scorer, and third in the premier league rolling year on the bench was a good idea, whatever the formation everybody wants to see Mateta and Nketiah as a pair.

When has Glasner commented on political matters?
I think he referred to his concerns about Austria moving towards a right wing party in reply to whether he was worried about our results. In other words he implied that there are bigger things to concern him.

Watch his post match presser for the detail.

If at the end of last season, I had predicted that we would not emerge victorious in the opening 7 games, we would be in the 'Relegation Zone' on the back of some abject performances and there would be speculation regards the position of the manager, many would have concluded that i was in an advanced state of refreshment and spouting hogwash.

Yes. Whether his political opinion suits you or not, there is nothing I hate more than sportsmen commenting on political issues. Ranks at the same priority level with politicians turning up at football games and publicly commenting on football games and their advices for managers of the national team.

The best all round performance this season probably remains the first game v Brentford.
We have had decent 20 or 30 minute spells in other games, but have never entirely convinced.
In truth we didn’t even play particularly well in the two cup games against Championship teams, even though we won them both.
That’s 9 games without a solid 90+ minutes performance and 2 goals scored in 4 home games.

It’s obviously a concern going into yet another international break with many players disappearing yet again on duty, and others injured, meaning it’s difficult to build a rhythm in the training over the coming fortnight.

Glasner sounded positive in the post match press conference , taking encouragement from the improvement in the second half yesterday.
He believes it’s a matter of time before we return to winning ways.
He has to remain upbeat no doubt, but I still can’t see signs of a catalyst for an upturn in fortunes.
Perhaps we’ll get a lucky win somewhere or a few decisions in our favour, but I can’t see anything on the field that gives me the feeling that things will improve dramatically in the near term.
