you could say the same thing for the victims.Ethnicity not being a crime that's unsurprising.
Child abuse is the crime. Criminals commit crimes. Not ethnicities.

This had been going on long before 2010, our institutions had and have been deliberately downplaying it for decades until Musk amplified it to the world.I'm not sure why there is suddenly this outrage that victims were ignored, they have essentially been ignored all their lives. These kids are by definition vulnerable, often coming from broken homes or being in care. Their backgrounds are often shocking. I work for a kids charity and part of what we do includes running children residential homes. Many of these kids are being looked after as their parent(s) have rejected them, are unable to care for them or are in jail etc.
Unfortunately some people exploit vulnerable people mainly as they are rarely believed if they do speak out.
These gangs are terrible and it has been going on for years. The Derby case in 2010 showed how the gangs targeted girls walking home form school so we know how they operate.
However, i am not sure what a further inquiry will achieve.
Also, let's be honest the grooming gangs are less than 5% of child abuse cases in the UK so let's not forget that the majority of abuse is being undertaken by people close to the victim e.g. family members etc.
Supposedly the 20 recommendations from the 2022 inquiry have yet to be introduced. That seems to be a sensible starting point IMHO

How the police conduct their enquiries in a day-to-day practical way is unrelated to what will be included in a report. So it wouldn't have helped speed up enquiries if they'd been concentrated on certain parts of the population.
It's been said before but if there was a spate of robberies being carried out by tall ginger haired men how many short blonde women should be interviewed?
Telling it to the victims won't help them any more than not telling them.Mistakes! Try telling that to the victims. So improving community relations was more important than dealing with the main issue? At last!
Big deal!Just to repost and thus highlight a recent post sent to Musk.
Dear Mr. Musk,
I, and the people of my town, owe you our gratitude. For six years, we have led the campaign for a Public Inquiry into the cover-up of the grooming and gang rape of Oldham’s children. To this day, not a single mainstream reporter or news agency has told the full story of what powerful politicians did to those of us who refused to turn a blind eye to the industrial-scale abuse of children, not just in Oldham but across the UK. Without this platform, the truth would remain hidden.
Today, @Keir_Starmer and his @UKLabour will vote against a Public Inquiry into this national scandal. Here are the three main reasons why:- To protect the block postal votes they rely on from sections of the UK’s Muslim communities to stay in power.- To shield senior Labour politicians implicated in the cover-up, including Deputy PM @AngelaRayner, Home Secretary @YvetteCooperMP,GovernmentMinister@JimfromOldham, and Greater Manchester Mayor @AndyBurnhamGM.- To silence and demonise working-class communities like ours.
They believe that by branding us as racists and far-right they can silence all opposition and tighten their grip on power. The Prime Minister is fully aware of what took place in Oldham. When we first began our campaign, whilst leader of the Labour Party, @Keir_Starmer came to Oldham to help support members of his team that were trying to put myself and others in prison for daring to speak out.Without your voice, and this platform, we would have already been defeated. For that we will be ever grateful. Thank you @elonmusk.
Yours Sincerely

But if ethnicity wasn't originally recorded how could it factor into enquiries? How the police conduct their enquiries in a day-to-day practical way is unrelated to what will be included in a report.
Oh that’s alright then, he can’t be right on this can he. What do you mean “someone like him”, do you know him or have you met him?Big deal!
This guy makes a lot of noise but has overseen two failed schools, with questions being asked about where the money went, and been blacklisted from any more involvement in education.
Oiling Musk's ego by writing this kind of thing is exactly what you would anticipate from someone like him.
If you feel I am misunderstanding or am misinformed, that’s your perogative. My perogative is to feel that you are either intentionally being argumentative or are totally blinkered with regard to these heinous crimesTelling it to the victims won't help them any more than not telling them.
Improving community relations was not more important than dealing with the crimes. You are another either misunderstanding or misrepresenting, the point.
I have no more information than anyone else does but if improving community relations was seen to be the key to unlocking the door that led to solving the problem then that's what would have been done.
If that was the case then it failed and was changed.
Some mistakes are more forgiveable than others.Big deal!

How the police conduct any enquiry depends on the circumstances. They will use every available bit of information, even those which they cannot include in an official report, to get a result. If someone has pointed out, or history indicates, something, they will use it. The police don’t ignore the obvious. You might want to present them as hogtied by regulations but they aren’t. They use practical experience to help them get results. But if ethnicity wasn't originally recorded how could it factor into enquiries?
He is just jumping on a bandwagon, like others are.Oh that’s alright then, he can’t be right on this can he. What do you mean “someone like him”, do you know him or have you met him?
I think you are being encouraged to jump on a bandwagon by those with no real interest in helping the victims and are only doing so for self serving political purposes. If you feel I am misunderstanding or am misinformed, that’s your perogative. I don’t disagree and would expect that to always be the case. Performance reviews lead either to more, or less, responsibility. In extreme circumstances to dismissal.People in high-ranking jobs are suitably remunerated for policy decisions and accountability.
Equally, where they have made 'poor' decisions, they must be exposed and held accountable.
If they are not being held accountable, then why the huge page packets ?
Every enquiry needs its terms of reference.Every bit of information? It doesn't look like it.
What did the child sexual abuse inquiry say about grooming gangs?
