Grooming gangs

Actually I have heard that part of the interview. His father has been misquoted
, the female reporter kept asking him whether his son wanted to buy Liverpool. He stated his grandmother was born in Liverpool and he ( the father) was brought up in the City, so there is quite a strong family connection so “ of course he would like to buy them but that’s not something he has discussed “.
I imagined it would be something like that and that with their never ending capacity to present half truths and misinformation our gutter press would sensationalise it.

I have no more knowledge of these criminals than anyone else posting here.

I have no idea who the “Oakistani” are. All we do know that whilst the convictions have seen more men of Pakistani origin involved there are also several others.

I used the Mail only as an example of where this type of story is found, but there are several others equally culpable.
Oakistani was obviously a typing error that I have now rectified

Sure.
...the inquiry found there were “extensive failures” in the way child sexual exploitation by criminal gangs was tackled, with police and authorities potentially downplaying the scale of abuse over concerns about negative publicity.
Which was learned from and revised. I have attempted to read the inquiry report this evening but it’s extremely long and will take several hours. The accounts of the victims make harrowing reading. Not just for the abuse they suffered but also for the circumstances which put them in the position of being so vulnerable. It’s also really clear just how complicated this whole area is and how much the various agencies involved struggled with its demands.

So far as I can tell it does not express any view at all on the way the police and other authorities handled things, let alone make the above comment. My understanding being that any such comment was probably made in a preliminary report of some kind.

There have been other reports which did express a view.

They did, but that’s nothing new.

That the early approach resulted in failures has been accepted, apologies made and learned from.

What’s important now is not to revisit those failures and delay action but to concentrate on the actual work of the inquiry. Which was to make a serious of recommendations to further improve the way this very complex and challenging problem is dealt with.

Political vendettas, mud slinging and calling for the jailing of people ought not be involved in any way. Those doing it, including Musk, Farage, Badenoch and Jenrick ought to be ashamed of themselves. Though at least Farage has shown some integrity by refusing to be bullied over Yaxley-Lennon.

It is important because the same mistakes were made in different locations over a number of years and the reasons need to be understood and explained.

i do not recall any white christian type men, in the various mugs-galleries. Although the article below does mention 'diverse backgrounds'

Has renounced Pakistani Citizenship, which seems a new way around deportation. We should either do a deal with Pakistan (unlikely), remove his British Citizenship making him Stateless or very least, any British passport issued endorsed with “ not valid for travel to Pakistan”.
Another example of the great European Court… well done 👏

Bomb disposal experts don't tend to move on after any failures. Deep sea divers? Surgeons? Architects? Pilots? Snake handlers? Many jobs don't allow many mistakes.
Bomb disposal experts follow predetermined protocols after extensive training. Any mistakes they make will be due to carelessness and not to strategies that are subsequently found ineffective. The strategies will all be safely tested in the lab well in advance of use.

Deep sea divers have buddies and procedures to avoid disaster should they get into trouble.

Surgeons, architects and pilots can make mistakes without any consequences. There are fail safe arrangements, other eyes observing and verification before implementation.

Bomb disposal experts get blown up along with everything else in the vicinity.
Deep sea divers drown.
Surgeons kill people.
Architects' mistakes lead to buildings collapsing.
Pilots crash planes.

How would you know just from photos?

In any case it’s actually irrelevant. It’s important to classify the perpetrators correctly. They are criminals first and solely.

Labelling them in any other way produces more negative outcomes than positive ones.

That’s not to say that quiet behind the scenes work needs to be done with community leaders to try to understand why certain groups behave like this and to find ways to change it.
