Glasner's future

“ administrative error “ - wow, that’s the sort of comment you see on Notts Forest fans forums !

Well you spent 200 pages arguing that textor didn't have significant influence, then it changed to decisive controll, then when someone pointed out that was only one aspect of the multi club ownership, it was, well the rules are unfair and uefa are corrupt anyway.

I think you'll find that the club are also arguing the above.

And I don't think you get the gist of my posts anyway, although I'm flattered that you take the trouble to respond to them.

I wonder what the difference is between this & the "tribe of clickbait journo's that do their pathetic stirring" (your words) on the Eze to Spurs thread?
I replied to you on the other thread. But for the record ,very little to no difference. OG, has given them the pot and they as sure as hell stir it.

I'd try and argue my case aswell if my administrative error and incompetence cost us a place in a major European competition.

SP - "Hello Roy, remember me, Steve Parish? I'm in a bit of bother Roy and I was rather hoping you could do an old friend a favour!"
RH - "Hello Steve, yes I remember you... Now listen Steve, I've heard about what's going on."
SP - "Really Roy? How?"
RH - "I have my ways Steve, and by the way, you shouldn't believe everything you read in the press. Anyway, I said that my managerial days are over, so thanks but no thanks."
SP - I did promise you your very own statue on the walk up to the new stand Roy."
RH - "So you did Steve, so you did, but still..."
SP - " Tell you what Roy, do me this one favour and I'll have the new stand named after you, how's that sound?"
RH - "Why didn't you say so earlier Steve? When do I start?"
If I was Roy, I'd hold out for the club to change their name to Crystal Palace Rovers

Glasner has never managed a top club, only mid table clubs, where he has done well, generally 2 years then walks, his methods are suited to a counter attacking team, and you cannot play that way at a top European club, the fans won't accept it, i still think he is a one trick man, but it is a very good trick.
Fully agree with this. He deserves at some point (hopefully not too soon) to be given the opportunity to manage a big club, but he will have to deploy a very different tactical approach.

Football is a fickle sport. A pretty poor performance against Mainz 05 doesn't help matters. We need to come out and put on a show against Augsburg, then suddenly the mood lifts and the perspective changes. I know Glasner is right and we do need additions, but I kind of see it as a win-win situation. If we win both games comfortably, things start to look a bit brighter. If we put on a poor display and lose, it forces Parish's hand into the transfer market.

Honestly I couldn’t care less about the pre season performances or results - we could beat Augsburg 9-0, it wouldn’t change my view of the transfer window so far nor the gaps in the squad.

Over the years I’ve seen zero correlation between pre season results and how you start the season.

I don’t really agree - he’s a typical ‘Bundesliga’ coach who favours fast transitions when you win back possession, but I see no reason his current tactical approach wouldn’t work with a better squad.

No doubt some tweaks - we don’t press that aggressively in the final third, for example - but I think the structure and general philosophy would be successful at a bigger club.

Last pre season we won the Stateside Cup, comfortably beating West Ham and Wolves.

Then didn't win in the first 8 league games

I think Glasner's comments are a shot over the bow for the board e.g. get on with it. I doubt he will do anything during this window so we still have time to placate him with signings.

My guess is that his main worry is that Eze and Guehi leave late in the window and we don't replace them or do but the quality is not the same.

At least 4/5 other PL managers have made similar comments to the press.

Glasner is ambitious and has proven he can win trophies, including with us. Having proven that it is not unreasonable that he now expects the club to back him. We lost Chalobah back to Chelsea in January and he was never replaced and then Riad picks up a long-term injury and Ward leaves. It doesn't seem Eduoard, Ahamada or JRS are fancied by Glasner, either. Add to that is the question mark over Doucoure and Franca's abilities to remain fit. With the added pressure of European football you can see why Glasner expects more. I don't think he'd walk unless one of our stars were sold and not sufficiently replaced; however, if he is to sign a new deal I think the club will have to demonstrate they are willing to push the boat out, but I can't see Parish suddenly changing trajectory and taking unnecessary risks.

It’s sad that Glasner, seems to be as dismayed at the situation as many on here.
There must have been , as always , clear objectives in place, certainly Glasner, seems to think there was, and his attitude is not unexpected.
It’s not good when a manager vents these sort of concerns in the press, it immediately gives a reason for a confrontation regardless of the actual state of transfer plans.

When Glasner joined Palace he said if the club were looking for a manager to merely finish mid table each season he wasn't the guy.
This can be a postive as he tries to push the club forward.
But it can also be a negative when he doesn't think he's being backed.
This would only be exacerbated by the departure of key players.
