Gallagher

Not convinced it is happening or is what we need most… but can’t deny we would be a better side and squad with him. He would complement or rotate with Wharton very well, adding goals to our midfield which we don’t presently have.

Hughes will be booked and suspended regularly, Kamada did well at the end of last season but we’ll need to rotate them. Lerma would become a centre back but i’m not sure that’s a bad thing.

We still need an Eze replacement, a forward on loan, wing back cover and Guehi to stay. That’s not a bad window and a strong squad though. I’d prefer a centre back too though tbh.

I too, doubt it's happening.

I've just read that although Gallagher made 50 appearances for Athletico last season, he only started 13 games.
For a player of such enthusiasm and commitment that must be hard to accept.

It doesn't sound that Athletico see him as a key player and may be amenable to him leaving.

Now the story is in the public domain there will no doubt be other suitors and I wonder if we'll miss the boat again by not acting quickly.

No way we sign connor they want there money back for him we won’t offer that and they won’t accept a loan unfortunately, not looking great it’s it another game on Thursday squad is thin no signings in sight.

Conor is at his best as the AM in a 4-3-3; He's not that effective as a midfielder in a 3-4-2-1, nor is he likely to excel as a no 10 in the same system, so I don't see OG wanting him. However, if OG has made it clear to Parish that he's not staying beyond his current contract (or Parish fears OG might walk sooner), this might be Parish wanting Gallagher in place for the next manager.

However, I suspect this rumour is no more than click-bait nonsense
I suspect OG has already expressed that to SP. Which is why we're not seeing much movement in the transfer market.
He'll be saving his money to "rebuild" again, with a new manager next season.

Glasner is already sounding frustrated by the lack of incoming players. If you thought there was a chance he would stay, wouldn't you try and keep him happy?

I read earlier that Atletico have no interest in loaning out Gallagher and he is not for sale.
If thats the case then I'd imagine its more media putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 27

In terms of money we can afford him without sales.
How can Everton pay grealish &150k a week towards his £300k, and build a £750m stadium, and buy new players?
It called investment by the owners.
the money is there for him and other players, in a bank account in the Cayman Islands!!

You don't know this how much we have to spend it's not as simple as saying well we just sold Eze for 60m so we must have 60m to spend.

Everton over the past few seasons have been clearing out people for good fees and reduced the wages (only this season have the spent more compared to sold)

The stadium was funded by previous owner and other investors and allows projected figures to spend money due to they know full well every week it will sell out.

This is why we need a new stadium 45 thousand would do just fine (rebuild of a stand to add not even 10 thousand for around 200m is madness)

Our owners before Woody had no interest in pumping money in it has been known since day 1 and just to think how much money was ring fenced by them something like 80m which was to go towards stadium I expect has gone with all the messing about.

Anyway back to Gallagher Unless someone offers a good cash amount they wont get rid of him or someone offers a silly amount for loan fee but it would need to be a big one.

Latest click bait has Wharton out and Gallagher in as his replacement …

SP has said he’d want 100 m .

If we got 100 mill for AW and paid 40 for CG … There would be a case for that as it would allow us to bring in several high quality players.

It doesn't work like that. For a start the payments would be structured so we wouldn't immediately have £100m. Secondly income from transfers is often allocated before the player is even sold. This is why Parish is struggling with what to do about Guehi. The club simply didn't budget for him leaving on a free. Refusing to sell now helps Glasner but the projected loss will now have to be made up/found elsewhere

They make these stories up on the hoof. Wharton has three or four years on his contract. Palace can wait at least two seasons before even thinking of selling him. £100mill is a guess that has done the rounds already, probably right though.
Maybe Gallaghers home sick or something similar and his agent has been testing the water, because his club are not pushing him out. If he did come it wouldn’t make any difference for Wharton ,in fact it could be an interesting combination if it happened.

Why are we even looking at Gallagher - just go and get Hackney 4 years younger - huge potential..!!

Probably £20M would do it..!!

Plus be lovely to get one over on West Ham for once..!!

COYP..!!

Pretty sure Ipswich had a bid accepted for just 15m plus add ons earlier in the window. I'm surprised we've not been interested.

Well it was fun while it lasted the Gallagher gossip. We can go back to doom and gloom now 😂
My sons regularly accused me of being full of that such that I was given the nickname Doombear, a moniker I now use on this site. I have desperately tried to be a glass half full merchant and succeeded for several years but this transfer window has me slipping back into old habits. 🤢

Surprise me Steve and put a smile back on my face!
