EZE

Won't make the manure game.

Carrying an injury since early December.

Explains a lot.
Yep. I think we underestimate how often players play with minor injuries. Being ‘match fit’ doesn’t necessarily mean completely injury free.

I guess we will get to see a team without him in. Some people have been curious as to what it might look like if wasn’t playing given his indifferent form. We will find out now. Presumably Kamada will fill his place

Is this his time to shine? We live in hope.

Say what you will about his form, or lack of it, but Eze is our sole creative talent (in the absence of Wharton) so can someone suggest how (and who) will the gap?

Mateta needs supply.

Unless Kamada has been hiding his light under a bushel I doubt if he will contribute in this respect and it is surely too much to hope that new boy Esse will show his own creative skill.

I had reasonable hopes of a win but if we now manage to get a point I will be mightily surprised.

For once I will probably be in agreement with Willo's anticipated 'message of doom' for this game.

Well apparently Franca is back in the squad so maybe our attacking options aren’t quite as limited as before. That is until he stubs his toe getting off the coach and puts himself out for another 9 months

Eze apparently out till 15/02.

Meanwhile, 2 points.

On Eze, I wonder if Esse can fill in on that side (rather than Kameda)?

Also, EPL Injury Table shows... drum roll... Franca and Wharton (REJOICE!) 100% passed fit and available for Sunday!!

I'm still rubbing my eyes.

I know, we can't expect much given their long absences. However, jolly good if they can get some game time, show some talent and not be carried off in stretchers.

i presume that is a joke

OliverGlasner: ‘Crystal Palace did their homework on Eddie Nketiah before Him signing from Arsenal’

18September 2024EdmundBrack
Eddie Nketiah opened his Crystal Palace account on Tuesday night in their EFL Cupthird-round win over Championship side Leicester.
The25-year-old Lewisham-born forward was starting in the attacking number 10 role alongside Eberechi Eze and behind Jean-PhilippeMateta.
Nketiah, who joined the Eagles on an initial £25million deal with £5m in add-onsfrom Arsenal, opened the scoring for his new side with an early low drive between the legs of Joe Walsh.
The former Leeds loanee has impressed in his opening two games for the South Londoners.
“You can trust that we did our homework before signing him,” said Glasner
“When you watch Eddie play at Arsenal, he played as a nine he was very involved in the game.
“He’s not a pivot, like in basketball, who is waiting for the ball. He’s so, so smart in finding the space.
“He can play as a nine, as this 10, and when we switched three days agoto a 4-4-2 against Leicester, he can play around the striker.
“He has such a good feeling (for the game). Sometimes, he needs to stay in the pocket and then make the run in behind.
“When Ebs (Eze) put a chip over, he ran in behind. He was waiting for the cutback when Tyrick Mitchell gave him the pass for the second chance.
“There are different situations, but he has a feeling to make the right decisions.”

Obviously not 🤐

I thought Eze looked unfit...
If Eze is injured, and yet plays, what does that say about the overall paucity of the squad? What indeed, does it say about Kamada? What does it say about OG's first team selection?

Well I think there’s general agreement that the squad lacks strength in depth.
When it comes to players injuries, without knowing the detail behind it and the severity of the injury, it’s all speculation.
Players will generally want to play if they think they can get away with it.And I think most people would include Eze over Kamada.

So I think OG’s team selection is one where he hoped Ebs would cope with it but that’s no longer the case.

The return of Franca and Wharton is probably another factor in the decision to give Ebs some recovery time.

As I’ve said before I think people underestimate how many players are playing with minor injuries. Match fit does not mean completely injury free. At this stage in a season I suspect many players in the EPL are playing through a bit of discomfort. Sometimes those minor injuries flare up into something that stops players playing.

While not the same sport I knew somebody who was a professional rugby player and by midway through a season he said he almost always played with some minor injury or other.

It would explain a lot, it stood out like a sore thumb against Brentford, as someone else stated which we picked up on as well at the game, twice he actually stopped and slowed down attacks, a lack of 100% mobility and/or lack of confidence in what his body can do would explain it

Don't forget we have Esse now too 🙂
