I think we are currently like Southampton of a few years ago when they were selling their players for big amounts to top clubs. The Soton board seemed to think that this process could continue each season. What they were really doing was ripping the heart out of their team with the inevitable relegation.
Finding potentially great players like Eze and Olise before the big boys snaffle them up (Chelsea) is incredibly hard and should not be taken likely. It's not a conveyor belt. Also our Academy is still not producing regular first team squad players for the Championship let alone the PL.
I just hope the board understand this. We may have to sell because the player wants to go but we have to invest as well. We do not have a good history of spending lots of money on players this is an area we must do better at.
