Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal match thread

Very unenjoyable watch, just glad we got points against Brighton to ease some pressure. Playing the Arse twice in 4 days was always going to be tough. Today has been worst we have played all season.

A timely reminder that we desperately need to upgrade for players like Clyne, Mitchell, Schlupp and Kamada.

Obviously we lack a skilful playmaker with Eze and Wharton unfit so it's men against boys.

Without creativity we rely on breakouts and long balls but they only work against lesser sides than Arsenal.
Seeing Zaha, Olise and Eze in the stands illustrates what we lack.

The (expensive) January transfer time looms but I wonder what we will get. In the meantime our goal difference is taking a hit.

I think we thought that we had turned a corner. This game confirms how much more work there is left to do.
Desperately need reinforcements in January. I can't quite ever see Nketiah justifying his ridiculously over inflated price tag and the wages we are reportedly paying Kamada is simply laughable.

Worst performance of the season by far. Positives were Sarr, who was really good, Mateta’s hold up play and Hughes. Kamada, despite the criticism, didn’t do much wrong but didn’t influence the game either. Everyone else was absolutely terrible. All of the back three were awful with and without the ball. The wing backs were shocking, Clyne in particular. Lerma just kept giving the ball away. Subs were given an impossible task but Doucoure looks a shadow of what he was.

Set up and tactics clearly all wrong today. Managerially OG looks very naive on the back of that or the team didn’t understand what they were supposed to do. A reminder we are a team in a relegation fight and a big job to do ahead of Bournemouth

The only bright side is there are some pretty crap teams that we will be playing who we should get something out of.

We look a very tired team, no doubt partly attributable to being 5-1 down.
The return of Munoz, Chaloboah and Eze should make us stronger v Bournemouth on Boxing Day, but I think all can see the squad isn't strong enough to compete well in the second half of the season.
There is no definite return date for Wharton and Franca and we already lack in certain positions.

Personally I think Glasner got the approach wrong today, but I'm sure there are plenty on here who will tell me Glasner has more football knowledge in his little fingernail than I have in my entire being.

I'm not saying he's a bad manager, just that I felt it highly unlikely that these tactics would work today.
Our approach left us too open as many forecast before the game.
At least make them work for their win.

I think we had 14 shots and 6 on target like Arsenal did? Just they were more clinical.
Remember OG wanted to have a go in the cup, so 3 games in a week was always going to be tough.
Eze and Wharton being out, Munoz suspended were big misses.
Wins against Bournemouth and Soton and it's happy days. Merry Christmas HOLers!
