On the bright side, we did open the gap up further with IpswichThe good work that we have done, to make the goals difference better than the other relegation teams, is in danger of being undone.

And did you discuss this with a learned gentleman in the pub who is 'in the know'?The scoreline is embarrassing.
A disgraceful result on account of woeful defending and missing good chances.
Us poor supporters sat through that capitulation and I for one was steaming like a cooked clam.
I accept Arsenal are at a different level but to concede 5 in the manner that we did was totally unacceptable.
We have played 21 games in all competitions this season and have only kept 4 'Clean sheets'.
We did not have the best shape on the right without Chalobah and Munoz, so Clyne and Richard’s were always going to struggle.Only better as they took their chances, equal shots on target, we had more shots but are just s*** at converting. JPM 1 and sarr 2 should have scored these.
Need to be more composed it looks.
I think this is right. What happened here is a mirror of the season thus far. When we have a depleted first 11 OG doesn't compromise his core tactical approach and for the most part we look pretty clueless, not having the players to execute the plan. When we do have a full first 11 we are much better in all areas and are capable of securing a result.
I don't think OG will change fundamentally his approach, therefore it's a matter of improving the squad overall. Bringing on an overweight Schlupp late on sums it up perfectly.

My goodness you are a right pessimist. How you've survived supporting Palace all these years I have no idea if this is how you think every other week.
We are missing so many key players and OG correctly realised it was time to prioritise the next 2 key fixtures especially given the tight turnaround. I am glad he gave it a go in the cup as well, so today was simply not ideal timing.
Of course no one wants to see us ship 5 at home but it's a pretty rare deal, and he would have learned a lot about our squad.
I’m not sure it’s Nketiahs fault tbh - Freedman has pursued him for years and Parish signed the £32m cheque…ask any Arsenal fan and they’d say he’s always been a bit ponyi hate it when big money signings are rubbish. Nketiah is taking the p1.55
For better or for worse so is Postecoglou and Pep....first two that sprung to mindI think this is right.
If we had to play Arsenal next week, he would set up with the same tactical approach, reasoning that the heavy defeat was an aberration due to uncharacteristic poor defending as opposed to fundamental systemic flaws.
While some of us may like to see a change of approach depending upon players available (e.g Munoz is a big miss in the system) or the ability of the opponent, Glasner is true to his core vision.
This clarity of purpose has served him well in his career and I suppose yesterday was uncharacteristic in terms of the weakness of our defending.
Hopefully a one off.
We lost to a money-team that has been gunning for the Title. No big deal. Get over it. Learn from the experience and move on. They paid 100 million for Declan Rice and we managed to limit him to only one goal.
Southampton, Ipswich, Wolves etc.............those are the games that we cannot afford to lose. And i still have confidence in the squad and Glasner.

Having attended both of the games against Arsenal, I actually thought that the only period in those games when Arsenal really dominated us was at the start of the second half at The Emirates. We were pinned in our own half and under immense pressure.Whilst I accept Arsenal are on a more elevated level, the fact remains that we have been defeated twice in a few days, conceding 8 goals in the process.
In terms of the lowly teams you highlighted, Southampton and Wolves have just appointed new managers and of course might benefit from a 'Manager bounce'.
On this rare occasion I am with Willo. All the points you make are valid... had we lost 1-2.And did you discuss this with a learned gentleman in the pub who is 'in the know'?

Rotation and fixture congestion I suspectDoes anyone know why he dropped Trevor? I was beginning to warm to him.

Sarr was a tad 'Hit and miss' at Watford and I believe I mentioned on HOL that at the club he often played on the periphery and did not 'Turn up' for every game. And 4 weeks ago everyone was morning about Sarr. Look at him now
I trust Freedman’s eye for a player. In fact the one signing I’d suggest wasn’t his would be Kamada, who If he was a kamikaze pilot, would make the decision to go backwards.
