Crystal Palace v Fulham match thread

We are down to the bare bones especially in the midfield area. To sack Glasner during this period would be a major setback in my opinion. I’m certain he’s a decent manager. I’ve enjoyed the style of play and feel we’ve been extremely unlucky during some of our games. However, Parish is very trigger happy and tends to make his move far too early so I’m worried for Glasner.
Things haven’t gone our way in some games for sure. On the other hand we’ve also had some luck. On another day Chelsea and Man Utd would have put three past us by half time. Even against Wolves they missed some gilt edged chances and could easily have scored four.

I hear a lot of if we can get our best eleven out we will be ok. How often are we going to be able to get our best eleven out? Maybe for a quarter of our games? So we have to win all of those from now on to stay up. That isn’t going to happen.

We have to be able to adapt tactics and set up to deal with injuries and get results. Ok yesterday was going to be tough with such a long injury list but we will always have one or two of the first team squad unavailable. The manager has to be able to adapt to that.
I think it's more a case of getting 11 out of our best 14 on the field and we'll be ok and I think we'll manage to do that more often than not once the current injury crisis is reduced to manageable levels.

People won't accept that Lacroix is a big downgrade on Andersen so they'll delude themselves into thinking he was "amazing today except for the goals." He was absolutely terrible

Dear Sir. Hmmm, your content herein is leaving me rather perplexed as the claptrap you speak about M.G Lacroix contains more didgeridoo than an aboriginal bush village.

And whilst fully accepting I'd never be nominated for the HOLMESDALE FC Forum Poster of the Season, after some of my recent uploads has rightly attracted several seasoned Eagle Fanatics to vent their fury at me as I continue getting to grips with the UK Soccer system, I've never been questioned as to whether my blood contains red and blue stripes or not.

Or perhaps the cynical idealist within my soul couldn't help noticing your membership application has only recently been approved by the HOMESDALE FC Forum Committee Board of Directors, thus dovetailing that point along with scepticism shadow that follows you, maybe you aren't one of our own after-all and actually are a down-and-out cyber-drifter who likes to antagonise rival fanatics.

A lot of the posters on here are being very generous. We had 4 put past us at home from a team that isn’t top flight.
Some of the defending was awful and tactically who knows what was the plan.
Anderson is missed and I’m not a troll, and I question how good players like Mitchell, Sarr and Kamada are. The only high points were not having to watch Nketiah play and Kamada being banned for 3 matches and yet again, our goalkeepers performance.

Honestly, do you use recreational drugs? I’m sure your heart is in the right place but some of your posts are bizarre in the extreme.
Dear Mr Eaglecoop

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my content upload following yesterdays disappointing soccer result at the Selhurst P soccer stadium.

Can I just wholeheartedly apologise for any anger or confusion my content has caused you, especially during a time of despair. It was insensitive of me, and dispute being the grand old age of 82 and from Cleveland OH, I have recently started to realise that perhaps my remaining years supporting Crystal PFC should be away from the HOLMESDALE FC Soccer Forum as I would not want to cause any distress to fellow fanatics especially knowing that with the inferior knowledge I personally harbour of the UK Soccer game, I probably do not deserve a place in your ranks and aware that I am potentially preventing a younger, more seasoned fanatic a place within this Soccer Club Forum.

Please let me have your thoughts and if my presence is causing unrest amid our Crystal Fanatics, I will sadly accept any recommendations to resign from this forum.

Mr. Gee, nobody wants you to leave. Your contributions are a break from the norm. Somewhat esoteric but definitely different.
PS not knowing much about football shouldn't stop you expressing an opinion. I personally have been watching it since the sixties and have no idea how the offside rule works anymore, whether a player is "involved" in a move or not, or, as per the Wolves game, when a goalkeeper has control of the ball.

Fulham hit a stream of crosses all game from both flanks.
We had a few in the first half leading to Anderson clearing Mateta's header off the line, one leading to a blocked Mateta effort and one hit just behind the onrushing forwards.
Not much after that and nothing from the left flank.
I don't think Glasner is instructing the players not to cross.
Mitchell had some decent crossing positions yesterday but elected to pass backwards and the ball ended up woth our keeper.
I'm not just picking on Mitchell , it applied to others too.
We have to braver in possession in the final third.

Dark humour
He was the only player I'm glad we offloaded.
Unfortunately, we replaced him with another one who can't score.

I never really understood why we were obsessed with signing Nketiah.

Wolves have a tidy set of games coming up, Ipswich could bag a few more points as well and we could easily see us cut adrift with Southampton. If so, think by mid December Parish and co will be on the phone to the likes of David Moyes. Olise and Ayew left in the summer, Edouard on loan for the season and have been replaced in the attacking areas by Nketiah and Kamada. Unless we had a youngster to step up the attack has depleted in personnel. Needed at least one more attacking option this summer. This has been compounded by a creaky defensive unit this season. Any error there in this league and you will be punished. If your not scoring the inevitable defeat happens. As mentioned on MOTD unless we sort our goal scoring out we are toast this season.

Don't look at the Ipswich score.

I don’t want to see OG go. I think if he were backed and gets some players back he would do ok. Without Olise we are not going to be that team of last years run.

However I do disagree that a new manager has the same problems. Dyche, Moyes, Mourinio, get a draw yesterday. Pep, Klopp and Slott get a win. Russell martin and Kieran McKenna get heroically beaten.

My point is a different manager with the same players can make a huge difference.

I maintain the next 2 games will decide OGs fate. If we lose the next 2 and he is not gone then that actually gives me hope that there is a plan to back him in January and he will be here for awhile yet.
OG has been backed and players he wanted brought in. Kamada will be his downfall, i expect he was a decent player for OG before, but he clearly isnt suitable for the Premier League.

We should be sounding out Moyes, he was disgracefully treated by W Ham after bringing them a European trophy. He is a good experienced Premier Manager, not exciting but knows what he is doing.

We are without a lot of players and it was always going to be a tough one.
However, Glasner got today horribly wrong.
He played players out of position for no reason and it showed.
Sarr on the left not the right, clyne on the left not the right, Devennny should be left side.
Kamada - gosh - he is just not up to football at this level.
He had to play him today but to see him left on the field when others went off was pretty poor.
It could have been 5-0 in all honesty.
Injuries aside, I reckon he has two more games and he could be gone.
A shame if so but we are currently on target for 25 points which means relegation.
Guehi will be gone in January and Eze may want out as well.
It is all going horribly wrong sadly.
If we take VAR out of it, it was 0-5 :drunk:

It would appear that Kamada was an influentual cog in the wheel, but this is a different wheel rolling on different terrain.

Right on, and may well be spending the next two weeks "inside" the zonal demotion places with Ipswich FC looking to pick up 3 points with an optimistic game scheduled

This one aged exceptionally well so any chance you can give me the lottery numbers as well, please?
