Crystal Palace v Everton Match Thread

A brainless performance.
Lumping the ball into the box is meat and drink to their defence.

It's symptomatic of our home form this season which is why our results are so poor.
We didn't deal well with Beto all game despite having 3 centre halves against him.
We created very little from out wide.

We seem destined to always finish mid table and rarely beat Everton.

Just not are night. Never is against Everton. They get stuck in our teeth everytime! Fair play to Moyes though he has done some job

Sorry… that was just so frustrating.

We just don’t take our chances. We would be about 4 places hire if we could. Everton should have been put to bed with 40 minutes on the clock.
Oh, don't worry - most, including me, will agree with you, and now instead of having to type it all out themselves, they can all just 'like' your post instead....😉

We had no creative ideas in the first half but still should have put the game to bed. They handed Mateta and Sarr golden opportunities they both failed to convert. Second half Eze made a difference but felt it was countered by Wharton who looked off the pace and meant we gradually ceded control of midfield. Hopefully he gets back up to speed but Lerma looked more effective. We really do look like a team that just can’t create much. Very good on the break and dangerous in transition but when a team sits back we are pretty clueless

Everton exposed our weaknesses. Lumping up to the box waste of time - they can head a ball and we can't. Might have been better starting Wharton, Eze and Chilwell. But, blimey, what does the manager see in Kamada? Overpaid and a waste of time.
More skill on the ball and we'd be OK but the Selhurst jinx strikes again.

Of all the people to blame today Kamada isn’t one of them. He came on with 10 minutes to play when we were losing. In that ten minutes he did fine. I think Eze and Chilwell both made a difference but Wharton looked off it. Great pass to Chilwell but frequently caught on the ball or behind play. Not a surprise given how long he’s been out but showed it was right not to start him.

Serious question…

Why are we so bad at home and fine on our travels?

Is it because we have to show more attacking intent at Selhurst and teams then sit back? It’s not like we are not creating chances.

If you look today though we didn’t actually create very much. They chances in the first half came about through Everton’s errors not our attacking play. Our goal was them failing to clear a free kick. So often we get the ball, get to the final third and then look out of ideas. It doesn’t help that when we get it wide neither of our wingbacks are very good at crossing. We are a team built for playing on the break and utilising pace in behind teams. When we are confronted with a well organised defensive unit we look clueless as to how to break them down.

Honestly how could that linesman see that clearly. I thought they were supposed to give the attacking team the benefit of the doubt
It went out, it was clear to see, he was standing directly on the line. Games turn on key moments, Sarr crashes it against the crossbar, less than a minute later we were one down.

Yeah we only have ourselves to blame today. Sarr misses an utter sitter and we then hand them a gift wrapped present of a goal.

Kamada is not the person to blame as he only played 10 mins but I wasn’t overly impressed with his limited performance. Nothing there..He’s a bit of of a urgggggggg. Limp and negative. Gets into great positions but when the ball is played to him you wince.

Straight sham to not get more than 6 minutes due to how long they wasted time and the length of the VAR check but whatever. Sarr should have finished his chance as should have Mateta instead of essentially hitting it straight at Pickford in the first half.

Wharton looked off it a bit but not surprised, still needs to get his feet back under him. Eze was our most creative threat when he came on, no criticisms from me. Same for Kamada; dude barely played and still gets lambasted like he's no better than a conference player.

Scrappy goals from them and we couldn't finish our chances. Yes BS VAR call for our first goal, but if we had finished our others like we should have wouldn't of mattered.

Frustrating on the whole but we can still finish strong and have a decent season.

Just a sport after all😛
