Much as i don't like the formation for home games i think OG was quite proactive on Sat by bringing on both Wharton and Eze at half time. Both clearly offer something different and more attacking to the 2 they replaced.I am still shaking my head at that result.
Much has been posted of course but more worrying for me is that our Manager does nothing to change games and the way that we play, during the game.
He doesn't get his messages across to the players - albeit I think that he is so wedded to his system that the only changes will be subs.
That to my mind is not good.
After we equalised we pushed hard for ten minutes or so and then slowly sat back.
It is up to him to sort that out.
Pickford was playing as an 11th outfield player and travelling way outside his area to do so.
We got pushed further back, made tons of silly errors and eventually conceded.
Really poor management and he needs to sort it out.
Everton are not a nice club and someone else said they are anti-gfootball.
They won though and Moyes has a plan - I am sorry but Glasner does not - not a plan B anyway and where have we heard that before!
I do agree about the sitting back though and you could see Everton grow in confidence as the half progressed and they had a few opportunities before they scored. The fact they made an attacking RB sub with 10 or 15 minutes to go shows they thought the game was there for the winning, and of course Young the RB had a big part in the goal.
However, i'm struggling to see what options OG had. Obviously Chilwell did come on and whilst did okay their RB who is of course a CB was never really tested. Maybe Esse for Sarr as he had a quiet 2nd half? Hughes was less effective in the 2nd half after being really busy in the 1st but i don't think anyone would have been happy of Kamada came on earlier.
When they scored he then panicked and went to 442 which wasn't overly successful as we just went long ball.
So on Saturday (at least) he did make changes and tried to influence the game, but unfortunately they weren't a success.
Sarr is an enigma isn't he. So cool with finishes at Brighton and Villa yet just smashes it from 6 yards when he could have side footed it into a corner on Sat. Fine margins as has been mentioned
