Glasner is a very methodical coach and must see that the set-up, which works well away from home, does not appear to suit us at home when the opposition sits deeper.Serious question…
Why are we so bad at home and fine on our travels?
Is it because we have to show more attacking intent at Selhurst and teams then sit back? It’s not like we are not creating chances.
Everton exposed our weaknesses. Lumping up to the box waste of time - they can head a ball and we can't. Might have been better starting Wharton, Eze and Chilwell. But, blimey, what does the manager see in Kamada? Overpaid and a waste of time.
More skill on the ball and we'd be OK but the Selhurst jinx strikes again.
I agree about the apparent effect on Mitchell of Chilwell's arrival.East Anglian Eagle here (locked out of that account for some reason)...
It may well be just me, but does anybody else feel like Mitchell has buckled as soon as he has competition for his place. has never had any competition since he broke through and the minute Chilwell turns up he throws and absolute shocker? I may be a bit harsh and am calling him out for a one off bad game that coincides with this but hard to see past this for me.
frustrating game where we, as always, bottle it against a team of shithouses. Can't finish our dinner, another frustrating VAR call against us, silly errors and a naff atmosphere once again.
Yes i am Salty.
Everton sit deep? they pressed with 4 players on the edge of our box, as we tried to get out, eventually we just lumped it forwards to Mateta on his own with 2 CBs on him.Glasner is a very methodical coach and must see that the set-up, which works well away from home, does not appear to suit us at home when the opposition sits deeper.
With him being thorough and methodical I'm surprised that the only approach we have when falling behind at home is to throw all our forwards on and hope something falls for us.
We create very little with this approach and it's easy to defend for teams like Everton.
Everything went through the middle with players getting in each other's way.
Try and get down the sides and pull the opposition out of position and create space for our forwards.
Perhaps that was the intention, but there was no evidence of that.
I think it's called 'Getting it off your chest' - very therapeutic if you're a Palace fan.......But it is nice to know we have such intellectual comments.
Completely agree. he does have moments of 'what are you thinking, don't pass there' etc. but today was a strange one from him. Hopefully a one off and he is back firing next game when marking Adama Traore (crosses fingers and hopes he doesn't find his end product vs us)I agree about the apparent effect on Mitchell of Chilwell's arrival.
It may seem simplistic to draw such a conclusion, but that was a very uncharacteristic performance from him .
Competition may be motivation for some players, but others may feel diminished especially when pitched against players of high quailty.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out in forthcoming games.
I think you must have been watching a different game to me.Everton sit deep? they pressed with 4 players on the edge of our box, as we tried to get out, eventually we just lumped it forwards to Mateta on his own with 2 CBs on him.
I agree with you today. I think we did more than enough to win. However, we can’t ignore the home record overall this season. That suggests that something isn’t right in the way OG is setting us up at home.BBC showing Palace had and XG of 1.5 while Everton had 0.75. You can’t blame Glsaner’s tactics or our home form for this. We played well but didn’t take our chances (and weren’t awarded a goal we did score) and gave away a stupid goal because of a very sloppy error. This is on the players.
