The same as their red neighbours. It was funny in the 80's when no one questioned how fans from one of the most economically deprived cities in the country could afford to travel around Europe to watch football matches. The fact they were dodging fares, using stolen credit cards, robbing people and going on massive shop lifting binges while there was just glossed over.100% agree with this. Their fans are worst type of horrible northern scallys. I put them in the same bracket as millwall and Cardiff.
I would have thought that typically the goalkeeper (Pickford) would have been most closely watching the flight of the ball, if anyone was going to appeal (that the ball had gone out of play) whilst the ball was still on its trajectory it would have been him -Whether the ball out or not (and if it was then outswinging corners are likely to become even rarer than they are now) it was a very good header.

Did the ball go out of play before Jefferson Lerma's disallowed goal against Everton?

The flag was not raised until the goal went in so he waited to see what happened before flagging which is totally wrong in this situationThe mistake of the linesman reminded me of the ref error at Brentford game, simply not good enough for paid officials. I guess all teams have similar during the years but these two errors 100% cost points.
I would also note IMO the megaphone song leader in the Holmesdale sounds really phoney and contrived, much better before that started.
Very flat atmosphere for most of the game, one to forget and move on.
Standing on the far side of the pitch, and at an angle to the flight of the ball, there's no way he could have been 100% certain that the ball went out of play. It isn't possible to watch the ball and the line at the same time, especially trying to track both during the very brief time from the corner kick to the headed goal. Also from his angle the ball in flight would have been obscured by the fans behind, he would have been looking up at the ball and not the line. So for him, it was just guesswork, an intuition that helped his other favourite scouse team escape a perfectly good goal. The flag was not raised until the goal went in so he waited to see what happened before flagging which is totally wrong in this situation
It’s certainly relegation form. Let’s hope the away form continues as after yesterday I’m not seeing a win at Fulham and that away form ending. Nor the next one home to Villa. We could be stuck on 30 points for a while looking at upcoming fixtures. Or perhaps as I’m a home supporter only it’s just getting me down :-(Winning 2 out of 13 at home is shocking form and it is totally reasonable for fans to expect more.
I thought exactly the same. The footage shows him looking around the corner flag to check, so why doesn't he flag straight away. If he had it would make it easier to take. This was one of the many frustrating things about yesterdays performance.I take it from the comments made that VAR does not extend to the lines at the ends of the pitch otherwise there would have surely been a conclusive outcome to whether the ball went out or was in.
The linesman, with this knowledge in mind must therefore be 100% sure the ball went out and if he is 100% sure then why didn’t he put the flag up straight away. It is not a linesman’s job as far as I know to ignore a ball going out of play because he doesn’t think it will impact the game, until it err, impacts the game. I’m pretty sure however, if Everton ran straight up the other end and scored he wouldn’t have put his flag up at all.
Never mind. Dermot Gallagher will clear it all up on Ref Watch where he's guaranteed to confirm it was all an error and apologise on behalf of his fellow officials.I thought exactly the same. How about changing the rules for corners, that it is irrelevant if the ball goes out from the direct corner kick until it makes contact with a player or the pitch.Whether the ball out or not (and if it was then outswinging corners are likely to become even rarer than they are now) it was a very good header.

Why not? Better than IFAB coming up with another of their brilliant innovations like touchline sensors or line judges like tennis. Or Star Trek style force fields being set up.How about changing the rules for corners, that it is irrelevant if the ball goes out from the direct corner kick until it makes contact with a player or the pitch.
Anything to make the game more exciting and free er flowing.
With VAR etc. we are in danger odf the game seizing up for live action. Yesterday the delay by VAR for our goal was a complete farce.I got cold just waiting.
This is true. Just our luck, though, that Chilwell isn't our player and signing him is unlikely. He can make a big difference then go back to Chelsea and be sold for someone else to get the benefit and we're essentially back where we started. Still, let's make the most of the time he's here.Once Guehi Chilwell and Eze build up an understanding, they will be brilliant. I saw the start of it yesterday. Eze is happy to pass to Chilwell which he rarely does for Mitchell.

Since corners can be taken with barely anything "overhanging" the line it must have been well over for the linesman to be so sure.
Do away with calling balls out in the air from anywhere, there are enough stoppages in the game already . If the ball lands or is headed inside the confines of the pitch the game should carry on.Why not?
