CPFC v Man City Match Thread

Special mention to Hughes and Lerma today. Both worked there socks off and looked really solid. Going to be hard to drop one of them for Wharton but lovely problem to have soon.

Team is starting to look just that now, a team. It’s taken time but signs of balance and fitness coming back.

Well done boys
I would drop Eze as a wake up call to him, he wastes too much good ball. Anyway, another fine point on the board, and with players coming back OG will have a range of options at his disposal.

Good performance and result....and yet there's a nagging feeling about the goals conceded.

Neither Guehi nor Henderson did well enough on the soft Haaland goal and the central defenders got suckered in to allow Lewis a free run to score the equaliser.

Perhaps this assessment may seem harsh in the light of the overall performance, but the foundation of any good team has to be a mean defence.
Nit picking for the sake of it. We have a good defence, no defence lets no goals in ever. The Haaland goal could of been caught in the wind and wrong footed Henderson. Why didnt the mark Munoz and LaCroix for their goals? nobody is perfect.
We haven't let more than 2 goals in, in any game this season, not many teams match that record, that isnt the sign of a poor defence.

I didn't say it was a poor defensive display.
I said it was a good performance and result, but I feel it was a game that we could have won.
From Glasner's post match comments he agrees.

In the predictions for today I wrote that I would be delighted with a draw. Strangely enough I feel a tad disappointed after being in front twice.

Nevertheless a wonderful point against the champions. Well done lads.

I just love to see Munoz score or rob an opponent and make an assist. He shows such emotion and wears his heart on his sleeve. It's starting to rub off onto the rest of the team. Still can't believe how we got him ahead of other clubs. Onwards and upwards Palace!!

We have to start turning these draws into wins! 😅

But seriously seen final game of the year and I'm delighted it was a great performance and definitely would have taken the bonus points before kick off.

who for? Eze has 4 goals, and 3 assists in a injury prone season, Kamada, Sarr and Nketiah have less between them, what is your master plan for replacing him, none, well think first, before having a suggestion.

I could be totally wrong here, but it seems to me that the shape of the team is different from a couple of months ago... as in where they stand on the pitch rather than how the teamsheet looks.

We press high and seem to make the opposition pass the ball into the centre. This meant that today Hughes and Lerma weren't chasing the game, it was coming to them and they were both outstanding.

Hoping Palace can keep building, still a lot left this season

Proper shift by the lads this week, has anyone still got any doubts about OG?
I can say i was 100% wrong about Glasner, he is the man for the job, i like the way he talks with his heart and not the PR route, i apologize for getting it completely wrong.

Solid point as they looked much improved against Forest midweek who are no mugs and I feared the worst . Played them about this time last year at their place with the same result. Lewis scored their 2nd goal that day as well. Shook them as we scored 2 late goals that day. We do seem to be a bit of a bogey side to them. Pep was really downbeat in the post match. Ridiculous statement about the sending off. Targeting Lewis ?!? Gaining confidence now for an assault on the Weed. COYP !!

Lanzo the forum is all about opinions and no one gets it right all the time. Our start this season has been poor and I get the fans anguish with our drop in form. When OG came in the results were not great, but we hit form and battered everyone. I could tell then this wasn’t a flash in the pan. Fast forward to today and I was gutted we didn’t put City away as I really believed we could turn them over.

To me things are getting back on track…..

Justin Devenny does well when he come on for Eze and done well filling in for him when he was injured . Something is just not right with Eze at the moment wether it he's not up to full fitness yet or he is still carrying the injury i dont know , he just doesn't get involved as much and doesn't seem as confident or enjoying himself as much out there . Kamada Nketiah no.

Eze's "problem" is that Olise is gone. From the opponent's standpoint, Olise was our most dangerous player. From Eze's football standpoint, Olise did more than any other teammate to set him up (and to draw defenders to the right side). From Eze's personal standpoint, if you saw any of the behind-the-scenes videos, it was clear Olise was Eze's best friend-and-brother on the team. And, no, Eze isn't back to full fitness, and his full fitness (like Mateta's) isn't what it should be to play a strong 90 minutes at this level.

It's true that Eze and Olise were/are friends but when Nketiah signed a lot was written about his close friendship with Eze as well and so far it hasn't shown much benefit on the pitch.
