CPFC v Man City Match Thread

What I'd like to know is, what happens when Riad is finally fit, which possibly against 'them' as he's playing for the U21's tomorrow evening. He was very good before his injury. Agree with your post.
Wait and see with Riad.

I wouldn’t bank on him as ready for a first team place as soon as the upcoming transfer window

He looked promising before his injury although I’m not sure about his pace for the Prem

I can say i was 100% wrong about Glasner, he is the man for the job, i like the way he talks with his heart and not the PR route, i apologize for getting it completely wrong.
Lanzo, I may be wrong, but I think at one point you were comparing Glasner with Vieira. May I suggest t hey really are chalk and cheese. Vieira wanted to play on the front foot but when things started to go wrong he bottled it and didn't know what to do instead.

Glasner, on the other hand, knows exactly what he wants from his players and recognized that it would take time for them to adapt to his system. Whilst he has his system, he seems very adept at tinkering with it to suit the upcoming opponent. This last week has, IMO, shown ample evidence of this in that:
  • Newcastle were put under regular pressure which made them uncomfortable and should have (had our players had their shooting boots on) resulted in a comfortable win rather than a last gasp draw.
  • Against Ipswich we let their keeper have the ball and chose our moment to press.
  • At the weekend we went after Citeh from the start and were rewarded. A pity the players kept too deep in that second half (with Glasner urging them forward).
I love listening to his pre- and post- match interviews because he seem genuinely to believe that his side can win any game if they play the style of football he wants and keep to the overall plan to target the identified weaknesses in the opposition.

I'm hopeful that we can and finish comfortably in midtable or even higher this season.

I think that’s a valid point about Vieira ‘bottling it’ with the result that the team ended up failing in both the defensive and attacking aspects of the game.

I also enjoy Glasner’s cerebral approach to the game in terms of his analysis of opponents and the application of what may be required on a game by game basis in subtle tweaks, even if the system remains broadly similar.

It will be interesting to see the approach v Brighton.
Both their full back push high and there are spaces left behind them.
However, they often outnumber the opposition in midfield with lots of positional rotation which can be difficult to deal with.
Our central midfield will be in for a tough game.
