I guess it comes down to how important SP believes a bargain basement fee, for the standout England international defender and club captain is vs the potential to keep the heart of our team for another season and push-on, with the added bonus of keeping our best ever manager happy.

I know what I would prefer, but it's not my money at stake.

Can't see him going now.
If we do well this year, MG may even do some sort of deal to stay on a massively improved fee/wage.
He clearly loves being at Palace and sensibly he has put this at the top of his thoughts.

Surely, even if he doesn't go this window, he would still have some value to us in the January one? After all, that's when the silly money gets paid by clubs who are desperate to replace long-term injuries, their own transfer leavers or just to generally improve their position in the table. It may not be what we could/possibly/maybe get this one, but would be a better solution in terms of giving us time as well as his talent for another 4+ months of league & european football

How is every single big club in the world not in for Guehi at that price? It feels incredible that it's a one horse race.

Chelsea have spent £300m this window so far, yet don't seem to think that £45m to snatch Guehi at the outset would be money well spent.

Bizarre.

We are hamstrung on value by

1) Guehi saying he wants to go to Liverpool.
2) Parish saying we have to sell him
3) Liverpool apparently not giving a damn whether he joins this year or next.

I thought a sale and loan back until January, we would have more window shopping time,no rushing.

But has he ever been to Liverpool (other than away days)? What a s*** hole 🤣

A sale and loan back for the season would keep everyone happy and give the scousers a discount for doing that, say a sale at £30m. They get their player next season, Guehi gets to play all season and cement his place in the England team, Glasner gets his man for a year and Parish gets a year to find a replacement for £30m. Job done.

Rumour has it internal meeting now underway at SE25 as Liverpool are pushing and agreed 10% sell on clause.

Hopefully we will bring in somebody of stature as a replacement..as one things for sure an injury prone Brighton reserve on loan and a kid with a few professional games are not adequate replacements.

Totally, which is why I don't understand why it seems to be just Liverpool involved.

£40m to lock in a centre back position for the next 7 years with a player who has international experience, good with his feet, as sound defensively as you'll find, and a good bloke who will never cause you a problem. It's the deal of the window.

City, Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea... why are they not all going for this?!

To me, for whatever reason he has his heart set on Liverpool, a big CD signing by Liverpool might ruin his dream, personally i would lock him in the Toilet (without phone) until 7-15
Isn't that what happened with Zaha and Everton.

I heard everyone was sent home at lunchtime on deadline day that year, so there was nobody to answer the phone in case an improved offer came in.

I know it's hearsay, but I really hope it happened.

In January he's allowed to negotiate with foreign clubs for a new deal next season.

So Liverpool could be guzumped if he stays at Palace today. Unless, as everyone on here keeps saying, he wants to go to Liverpool.

I'm not sure he does. If he wanted to go, he could put in a transfer request and say he wants to go to Liverpool. But he hasn't.

That makes me more hopeful that he'll still be a palace player tomorrow.

There's no prospect of an adequate replacement on the horizon. He'll still be a Palace player after 7pm.

OG has clearly said MG needs to
Stay , SP just should keep his own council in front of the mic/ camera

If Guehi is a South London boy and loves Palace so much, then make him a contract offer that he will find impossible to refuse. It will seem even more appetising if we have a great season and exceed all expectations.

I know that a big club is appealing, but more money and winning is a great aphrodisiac where ever you are playing.

Glasner wants Guehi to stay understandably.
Parish wants to sell, again understandably.

THe question is, does Guehi really want to move in this transfer window ?

1. A move to Liverpool now doesn't guarantee him a place in the starting XI.
2. He needs to be playing regularly to get in the England team/squad for the world cup.
3. By not moving,he keeps his options open and will be playing regularly.
4. He can negotiate with Foreign clubs come January.

I see why it's very much 50/50 at present.

Liverpool may well be playing chicken to see if Parish flinches first on price throughout the day.
