What do we need

Forget Chalobah, Chelsea have played him and will be in Europe next season. Guehi has to sign an extension or be sold. We'll sign another 2 CBs cos Ward and Holding are gone also.

Dacoure, he's good enough but I fear he's a crock, we just won't know.

Chilwell, far too expensive, goodbye, replace. I do wonder if there's anyone in the academy ready for LWB.

Édouard, shift him, I'd take Vardy instead. He needs prem bench money cos of his stupid wife.

Rak Saki, just sell.

I do not think Palace need to buy a lot of players this summer. The main thing is keeping the group of players for another season at least. The only difficulty could be Guehi and Eze. Guehi contract expires next summer and financially being a free transfer in 2026 makes most sense for him and he would get a signing on fee/bonus etc.. I think Newcastle bid £65m in January for him which was rejected. Now that people know his contract expires next summer you won't get £65m for him. Most clubs will try to get him on a free transfer. If they do bid probably be bids in the region of £30-£40m at most. It does not make financial sense for Palace to let him run down his contract.

Eze has a release clause so I can see it being activated (Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool) he will have suitors.

If both Eze and Guehi leave this summer then Palace will probably need 2 centre backs considering they are in Europe next year. Bella Kotchap would be a decent signing from Southampton and maybe one other does not have to be a huge name someone that can fit Glasner's system. Would also love Chalobah.

I would bring back Adaramola to provide competition for Mitchell at LB.

A back up ring wing back is also required. We need someone who will be happy to be 2nd choice as Munoz won't be benched. If Palace cannot get one I would love to see Kporha get promoted to the first team I think he could be a very good player if given the chance and he can learn from the experienced players.

CM/DM is Palace strongest point have a lot of options (Wharton, Hughes, Kamada, Lerma, Devenny and if Doucoure can be fit for most of next season him and Wharton would be a very solid partnership and the strongest option.

If Eze leaves I would love to see Franca and Esse play more. Especially Esse, I think he could have a solid season if given the chance. I would love to see Palace buy an ACM or winger.

In terms of up front Palace have Mateta. Nketiah cannot have a worse season than this season 3 goals in 28 games. He will improve. Sarr can play up front as well. I would love to see Ola Adebomi get promoted as well only 21 years old but has goals in him.

In short, the key for Palace is keeping their manager and players but that might prove too difficult for Guehi and Eze. I would love to see players like Adaramola, Kporha and Ola Adebomi get promoted to the first team. Esse, Nketiah and Doucoure could be new players next season I can see them all do well if given the chance and touch wood no injuries.

Palace XI (if Guehi and Eze leave) Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Bella Kotchap, Mitchell, Doucoure, Wharton, Munoz, Sarr, Mateta, Esse)

I think Guehi and Eze are off and we'll get around £110m or the pair. The bulk of this should be spent on trying to replace them.

Essentially we need two players good enough in each position with a few utility players like Lerma. Two games a week will be intense and we'll have to use the League Cup as opportunity for youngsters to gain first team experience. This means the urgent replacements are:

- GK: Henderson, +1
- CB: Richards, Lacroix, Lerma, Clyne, Riad+2, +3
- RWB: Munoz, +4
- LWB: Mitchell, +5
- CM: Wharton, Hughes, Kamada, Lerma, Doucoure, Devenny, Ozoh
- Wingers: Sarr, Esse, Franca, Rak-Saki +6
- Mateta, Nketiah, +7

Talking points:
- Rak Saki: Has had a good season with Sheff Utd and has earned his chance at least. Jury still out.
- Chillwell seemed to enjoy his loan stint and brings experience. Worth going for if willing to reduce salary demands.
- Riad & Doucoure: Long term injuries, will they return back to the level they were?
- Ozoh started well with Derby before injury. May be best to send out on loan again.
- We remain in a semi crisis if either Hendo, Munoz, Mitchell or JP get crocked.

Eze will be extremely difficult to replace. Guehi less so. Hoping Parish can pull out some magic to keep Eze.

!st off, clubs are required to have 3 goalkeepers in their squads, which is why having Remi Mathews is handy, he's on approx £5k-£6k pw & is happy being a No3GK. Woodman & Whitworth are to be added tho i would assume Whitworth will go back out on loan or sold(imo).

RWB, we have Kporha & Danny Imray as well. LWB, yes we need cover, tho as has been stated, Tayo Aderamola, 'could' be included. CM agreed. Wingers, Rumours Rak-Sakyi will be sold, Soton, who wanted him last summer are after him again. So, we'll need poss 2 more. Striker, agreed.

If Munoz got injured, Kporha and Imray are not good enough to slot straight in. Same goes for Whitworth and Matthews. 3rd choice not realistically expected to play.

Big step up for Adaramola to go from League 2 Bradford to PL. he, like others, needs a full season in the Championship before he can be considered for the first team.

If Rak-Sakyi goes, we'll at least get some money for him. From what I've seen of him, not good enough, but I think he's earned his chance.

Didn't Adaramola play some first team games for us? Maybe subs appearances? So he has been around the first team before. It's perhaps not quite the stretch people think.
An issue with Tayo and Ozoh has been injuries, unfortunately.

Has lerma signed a contract extension? I thought it expired this summer.

I can see Eze staying and Guihe signing on with a release clause like Olise did. European football and a world cup coming up next year. Can't see our best players leaving when they are playing so well in the system with us with the upcoming world cup.

LWB is the essential move, Mitchell for me is the weak link in the System, another CF, Jonathan David available on a free, BOS on a free, I think the only one who i think may leave is Eze, but i think he should wait another year, Keeper, and if we can get decent money for Doucoure i would take it, Bellingham from Sunderland is the perfect partner for Wharton

GK, Henderson, New, Whitworth
RWB, Muñoz, BOS,
LWB, New, Mitchell
CD, Richards, Lacroiux, Guehi, New, Lerma, Riad
CM, Bellinghan, Wharton, Hughes, Kamada, Devenny,
AM, Sarr, Eze (or replace), as Franca and Esse cost 35m between them they should develop
CF, Mateta, David

Doucoure and Nketiah open to offers, 5 in, 2 free, 3 bought, Chillwell is a Know for Me.
Matthews has renewed so will be no3

It might sound strange but in order to get a deep enough squad I'd say the two players we need to upgrade/replace the most are Ward and Clyne, players who can play in the back three or as full backs. Whoever we get as understudy to Munoz will have to have pace, without Riad we've only got four central defenders (inc Lerma) so it's these Joe Gomez, Ben Davies types we need who can play in the back three or as cover for the wing backs. Having said that we may have to make a clear distinction between the wing back position and the back three since pace is required under Glasner's system to play wide, which will mean having to get more than three players in, unless we can find the next Kyle Walker, who could do all three jobs: cb, fb and wb.

Would only loan Imray out later in the summer. See how he does with the first team in preseason and if he might be ready to stay and be 3rd choice RWB (wouldn't make him immediate backup unless he excels in preseason)

Feel like we probably need to add 3 or 4. Any more could disrupt the vibe and balance of the team. Quality players don't want to come and sit on the bench. Nketiah is probably the best back up striker we're going to attract. Lerma, Kamada and Devenny are similarly decent bench options at CM. So the areas we probably need to strengthen for me are maybe one more decent 10 in case we lose Eze/Sarr or injury strikes...and then another FB cover for LB/RB. If Guehi leaves, maybe one more decent CB too.

This!

With at least 8 games in Europe, possible call-ups to the national teams for some players, the two cup competitions, AFCON, inevitable injuries and no real winter break, squad depth should not be underestimated. As one poster noted recently, even this season we have at times had a bench consisting of two goalkeepers, some unproven young players and older players.

I don't disagree...I'm just saying it's not as easy as having world-class players on the bench, ready to come on and play like world-class players whenever called upon. People get rusty if not played. People get attitudes when not played.

If we don’t have one of our loan keepers back we will need a no2 keeper replacement. Utilising a loan spot for a keeper is/was a waste.

I would bring Walker Peters in and Bright Osayi Samuel at wing back giving us 4 good players in those positions with BOS giving midfield cover too.

I think we will need two new CHs if Guehi goes, one if he doesn’t.

We need another strong ball playing midfielder. We’ve been linked with loads. It’s sad, but unless he has a miracle recovery, Doucoure will probably never make it back to top form. If we get a huge offer for Wharton we will need a high quality replacement.

Up front we need a direct replacement for Eze if he goes otherwise we should be looking at a decent utility forward who gets goals.

Esse and Franca will in my opinion still be bit part players certainly for the start of next season so we will need some experience added in the forward line.

Most of all, we need to do our business early to allow new players to bed in quickly and existing players knowing whether they are staying or going.

Players to go:

Turner loan end
Chilwell loan end
Ward
Ahamada
Plange
Ebiowei
JRS
Holding
Edouard
Clyne? Maybe 1 year contract

Players that may be sold for big money

Guehi ?
Eze ?
Wharton ?

All my opinion of course based on what I’ve seen this season.

I can't answer the whole thing, but my reading is that Guehi is going. Bloody shame we don't have O'Brien, there's no central defenders coming through. We can't even say if Riad is, or will be, good enough. So at least two centre backs. That's going to be quite unlikely. We'll probably end up using Lerma there. And we are linked with one centre back.
Bright Osai-Samuel or whatever his name is, should be coming as Right back. Which makes me think do we need Clyne? Or do we keep him as central back up? I don't think it's worth it frankly.
Midfield maybe one, but Osai Samuel can play there. That's assuming we don't lose Eze. Also Franca is actually a midfielder, so is Devenny. So there are options. What will Doucoure be like? Who knows?
I think Mateta will stay now: he wants a good wage but is happy.
Jury out on Nketiah (or not!). But we've got him and no one else is going to want him.
Édouard - no way will Glasner keep him. He will not be part of any plans - except sell for whatever we can get. Popular at Celtic - he might go to Scotland for a couple of mil. He's basically next season's Holding.
Wingers - not sure. I think Rak-Sakyi's pretty good but I seem to be in the minority. I have no idea what the club think. Probably could be a squad player - particularly in other competitions.
I cant pretend I have seen enough of him to make a judgement but I am told the feeling about him around the Palace training ground is he lacks discipline and struggles to play within a team's structure. If true he is definitely a Glasner player. OG even likes his flair players to express themselves only within the boundaries of how the team are set up.
I imagine he'll be sold to Sheffield United as Wilder loves a maverick. Either that or he'll go to a newly promoted club or back out on loan to the Championship.
I personally dont see him making it at Palace. Doesn't mean he wont make it elsewhere though.

There are a few unknowns at present to totally predict we were need. But looking at it presently.

Keepers - we should be fine for.
Henderson as No.1, then we have options in Whitworth and Goodman. One of those may well become no.2 keeper.

Full-backs - we definitely need another left back, possibly another right back (depends if Clyne is kept on). There is Imray who has done really well at Bromley, but now needs to test himself at a higher level (ie. Div 1 or championship)

Centre backs - Guehi will go in the summer either by choice, or Palace sell so he doesn't run down his contract. So, another CB will be required.

Centre midfielders - it depends on whether Doucoure can come back and stay fit. Kamada has now shown he can play centre midfield. Also whether we can hang on to Wharton.

Attacking Midfielders - depends on whether we can hang on to Eze. There is Sarr, Esse, Franca and Devenney

Centre Forwards - definitely an area we need to strengthen. Mateta is a given, the sooner we can offload Eduoard the better. I'm still not convinced on Nketiah either.

Definite - left back, centre Forward, centre back
Possible - right back, centre midfielders, attacking midfielder.
Whether Marc leaves or not I'd love to see us go for Trev Chalobah. He was fantastic for us.
In terms of a striker I agree re Eddie. Dont think he is going to be a starter and we do need to either pay up Edouard and release him or find a buyer for him. The lad we are looking at who plays for Strasburg looks a good fit. Him and JPM as the first 2 options makes us strong up top.

We do need LWB cover and (if OG wants to continue playing the same way) we may have to look at saying goodbye to Clyne and bringing in RWB cover that can get up and down too.

If Munoz got injured, Kporha and Imray are not good enough to slot straight in. Same goes for Whitworth and Matthews. 3rd choice not realistically expected to play.

The form Munoz is in NOBODY is good enough to slot straight in. Thats the downside of having such a high quality wing back. Still need to obtain the best possible cover though. For me thats not a youth player unless he is truly exceptional.

I agree.

Not only do we need to enhance the squad, we need to do it quick. For once, I agree with the impatient quarter of posters. Never has a team needed a good pre season and starting the new term with a settled squad more than us. In some ways, we must be like a newly promoted team. Get the points tally in early as later in the season we may suffer.

If we reach the knock out stage of the Europa, I can also see us having to dig deep in the restricted and inflated January window. We are going to get our pants pulled down. Yes, we may have become one of those clubs. With success comes a cost.
