US Politics

I’ll be fine, I’ve got ages to go until retirement.

It’s you old boys I feel for 🙂
Well tbh I don’t have bundles although a property helps and I may get a full hmg pension. You though will probably not but you will pay in tons between now and when you are knocked for it. This is where some arguments on here with who pays what and who gets what are actually to your defense . That’s for different threads though. 😀

This lady (who is a leftist) explains that the aim of the Trump tariffs is to help the forgotten working class by creating manufacturing jobs.

She might be “leftist” but she is no economist!

Her analysis is at right angles to every other that I have heard from those that are.

That Trump says he wants to help the working class no more means he actually thinks he will or that he hopes to, let alone that he has any real idea of the impact. Many think the real intention is to divert money to people like himself.

Ah sure look we all survived a "killer" virus a few years ago we can certainly survive a few tariffs 🤣
It won’t kill us, like the virus threatened to, so yes we will survive but ultimately this will destabilise the global economy to such a degree that our security could become threatened too.

So don’t try to pretend this can just be brushed aside. It’s very serious.

It’s also the same working class people that are going to be paying higher prices for the same or inferior goods.

The whole thing is a joke to him. They’re “winning” and it doesn’t matter if the world burns around them.

The last few days have been an absolutely fascinating case study in how close to edge of the cliff the cultist lemmings will go to still back him.

It is interesting. Personally, I think that this hysteria is probably a case of both sides not truly accepting just how much of a difference Trump is going to make, for just good and bad.

My own take is that non-Americans are actually suffering from a bit of Stockholm syndrome. That they have almost become institutionalized by what has been effective US colonization of much of the West since the end of WW2. Effectively sheltering under its wing whilst calling it a c*** at the same time. And now the US is taking its ball away, and deciding not to act as an Empire (Empires always, despite the claims of exploitation, end up subsidizing those they colonize) then everybody throws their arms up in the air despite the fact that if you see economics in terms of a nation-state zero sum game then the US have been pretty unfairly treated.

What we on the Right have to realise is that Trump, Musk and co are NOT coming to our rescue. Which is fine. How it should be.

Our true allies are our brothers and sisters in Europe. That is our future.

The US is giving up on being an Empire. And the sooner we all come to terms with that, the better.

Agree with a lot of this Matov. Other than it’ll probably end up resetting back to norm in 2 years after the midterms and both sides will then go back to having the same old frustrations 🙂

Not just the edge! They have all jumped off with him and are currently in mid air hoping they will land in a sea of honey. Whilst most others are aware that seas are salty and bordered by rocks.

If the US economy tanks and follows the stock markets down into a depression then the midterms ought to see both the House and the Senate returned to Democratic control. The Democrats getting their act together asap is therefore pretty important, not just for the US but for everyone.

As an aside if the Dems do regain control for the last two years do you think they could try to impeach him for a third time? Might they succeed if enough Republican Senators finally feel they need to distance themselves? Maybe they could also impeach Vance to avoid him taking over!

Congress certainly needs to reestablish its role and start to limit this executive power grab.
