Tory Leadership Race

They are fine when it's being rude and provocative to people they don't like. They don't really look in the mirror much.

Of course Starmer lied and lied to get elected (first to gain the Labour leadership and then to win the election), but hey, he wasn't rude to the left's fetish groups and kneeled when required.
Lord Farquhar ( sorry Rachel Reeves) has basically admitted she lied about raising taxes. Still anyone but the Tories.. eh! Where is EDN?

The abuse of Badenoch by the Left is similar to their abuse of Thatcher. Their abuse of Thatcher was because they knew how formidable she was. Similarly their abuse of Trump.

Good question Spider.

Dawn Butler is another race baiting moron.

Her tactic was inevitable. All things race are purely about politics.
It seems that we are meant to be colour blind right up until it suits us not to be. That is contradictory nonsense that the left and liberal establishment peddle.

Totally untrue.

Thatcher was disliked, but respected and even admired by her opponents for having fortitude and principles.

Badenoch is not just disliked. She does not command respect because she is just nasty.

Trump is in another category completely. He is universally loathed as an unprincipled idiot by everyone. Excepting the very few who seem to approve of unprincipled people.

How many millions are the few? She is disliked by the left as they are worried about her. I think you will find Badenoch will become a very good leader and I suspect, will make mincemeat of Starmer at the dispatch box. Didn’t take you long did it

But they are so much more fun............

The gap difference between truth and reality is typically wide with social liberals. They will say just about any old crap.

The point about Thatcher is an example.

We only have to look at what the left did as regards Thatcher......When she died, activists commercially released, 'ding dong the witch is dead' a fifty odd second song back in 2013.....It made it to number 2 in the national charts.

Regardless of how someone felt about Thatcher this was well.....might I suggest lowlife.

That's the left.....talk a lot about hate, because they feel it more than most.

That some idiots did silly things doesn’t mean that Thatcher’s professional opponents didn’t respect and admire her.

There are idiots on both sides of the political divide. You have only to read these pages to recognise that.

I only saw an eighty or so second extract on this interview but did she admit she lied? I heard her say she was wrong to say taxes would not need to be raised. Her context was that her statement was made before the extent of the public finances black hole was known. Specifically, the black hole in the public finances which had been hidden from regulators and Parliament (debatable, I know).

You could argue that it was stupid to make such claims before knowing the actual numbers after having been elected to office. But unless she admitted to lying elsewhere in the inteview I thought what she said was quite reasonable.

Yes, she did not use the word but the effect is the same, she thinks admitting she was wrong sounds better than it was premeditated. They had full access to the finances before the election so if they did the numbers wrong it demonstrtes their incompetence.

Whatever, the budget is done and the consequences will flow through the economy.

For example, the semantics around the NI tax rise, anything not specifically excluded ( on employees ) is included.

The BoE has been consistently wrong on forecasts for years so lauidng that on here CV is not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Nothing will change until the next GE, it will take a couple of years to show that growth is stifled and the income Labour baked into the the budget will not materialise. Many Labour supporting business people are pointing out that the tax rises may well lead to unemployment and and therefore an increased benefits cost.

You cannot grow an economy by increasing the size of the state.
