Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

Loans are handy enough if you can get the right player. They've helped us but also feel a bit of let down when we can't sign the ones who work out. That's been our issue.
Pretty sure we'd all have been happy enough to sign Gallagher and Chalobah but the deals weren't there. Gallagher didn't want to sign for us as far as I'm aware - even if we did try. Chalobah was needed by Chelsea and he seems to prefer them, although it feels like they treated them both poorly enough over the years.
That sounds like wives, treat 'em mean keep 'em keen. 😵

Don’t need a striker - Nketiah is only a relatively short term injury - in the interim Sarr could play there if JPM needs to go off.

We need a left footed wide player for the right as strange as that may seem - but we play inverted wide men 10’s, another CDM and a centre half.. So 3 quality signings..!!

I would swap the CDM for a RWB, but wouldn't be upset if we got 4 😍

But as the loans of Gallagher and Chalobah proved didn’t take us forward - just left a hole when they left - Chalobah mid loan contract that left us with 3 centre backs in a system that requires 3 centre backs..!!

I think the loan of Gallagher is why we are still in the prem and Vieira kept his job for the season. He made a massive difference. Agree he left a hole when he left

At this stage it might be cheaper to employ a hypnotist, who, an hour before the match, convinces Edouard that he is Ronaldo (the Brazilian one), Romario, Didier Drogba, and Jimmy Greaves rolled into one...

Are you joking? He'd just go to sleep and not wake up till the final whistle. So, no change from his normal behaviour.

If someone could convince him that he gets paid to play football would be a start the lazy bumblebee.

Reminds me of the old story of the trainer running on the field to treat a player with a head injury.
He ran to the manager on the touchline and said, 'Boss, he doesn't know who he is , ' and the manager replied, 'Tell him he's Pele and hopefully he'll play like him.'

So we are in 4 competitions, the season hasn't started, and you already want to use wingers as strikers?

I don't think that will suffice.

manure have spent £200m on 3 internationals.
As FA Cup reigning champions we have spent F all.
Says it all .
Burnley have spent more than us.
Manure income is 10 times that of Palace. If we wasted the same money on Hojland or Antony we would go bankrupt. And teams coming up always buy a string of players. We did the same. Its a risky strategy that sometimes works like in the case of Forest. We are a mid table team. We don't have deep pockets and can't risk wasting too much of our money. We already have duds in Eduard, Riad and Franca, we have to be careful. And it's always difficult buying if you are not able to pay over the odds like we did with Sakho and Benteke. If we don't lose any players I am not worried. We can throw in the youngsters if we need to. That's what they are there for. We are not top four or Champions League material... yet.

I've been critical of the club in terms of it's slowness in transfer dealings.

Some have pointed out that we at least have kept our players (at least at the moment).

This set me thinking what our competition has been up to this summer and the results are revealing in terms of player sales;

Brentford -
£86 million taken in on sales of Mbueno and Norgaard.
This will exceed £100 million if Wissa joins Newcastle

Brighton -
£100 million taken in on the sales of Pedro, Estupian and Adringa

Wolves -
£95 million taken in on the sales of Cunha and Al Nouri. This will go up another £15-20 million when Silva moves

Forest -
£55 million taken in on the sale of Elanga.

In contrast we've offloaded Ward, Holding, Schlupp, Plange, Ebiowei and I doubt we've taken a penny.

The contrast is dramatic with the aforementioned clubs insofar as we haven't lost any key player, but on the other hand we haven't taken in the many millions that they have.

I suppose we haven't really been a selling club.
In terms of important players in the last 10 years or so the only key players we have sold are Bolassie, AWB and Olise.

We need a striker, whether nketiah is fit or not.
He isn't good enough

In Glasner's latest interview, where he says the club have been '' passive '' in the transfer market, he goes on to say that Palace definitely need two more players. One up top and one at the back.

I'm sure that's on the assumption that Eze and Guehi are staying.

He talks about '' quality '' players - so are we talking players with potential like Romain Esse, or players with more experience that can have a more immediate impact ? I think it's the latter.

I also interpret that to be cover for the central defenders and a replacement for Nketiah.

I think the loan market could be the way to go in terms of a forward. And then Palace need to identify a player that's willing to come and provide cover for the back three. Again, an assumption on my part but I think Glasner has more trust in Richards now than he did when Chalobah was brought in.

Hopefully we will see some progress once our European fate is known tomorrow.

We've had 3 months to sort out these issues and the solution is loans ? That's not a solution thats just masking over the cracks and leaving it for another day, we also need competition, not cover, Mitchell has walked into the team for the last 3 years, I belive to his detriment, competition would have improved him as a player.

It would be odd if the club didn’t always have something going on, and hopefully have. But not long left now and even the click bait is silent.
Doing business at the last minute is a bit like going to Sainsbury’s, late Friday evening and picking up the cut priced bits. Let’s hope somethings left worth having.
