Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

SP has stated that we could lose a couple, but they would be replaced (Evening Standard) it’s a juggling act for sure. What is different this season is that no one is pushing for move, whereas we knew Olise was off last year.

There is a different feel about the team now, where the players know they can beat anyone on their day and there is an air of confidence which is great to see.

Bring on the start of the season….

SP is doing a lot of media talking yet very little getting over the line with bringing in people to compete/improve things.

Have we even replaced DF? and the whole stadium stuff has gone quiet again.

We need to stop waiting until the last minute to do business OG (his contract is up at end of year) was not impressed last season with that and with European football as well we really can't have a start like last years.

I see West Spam have signed 2 people who was alleged linked to us.

I'm still shocked we have not cleared out the deadwood like Holding etc.

It i remember correctly, or was it a rumour, that Eze's Release clause was only applicable for the first 6 weeks of the transfer window opening, which is on July 21st, so if that is true, after that, he isn't going anywhere, which to me means the only important player that may leave, is Guehi, who isn't hard to Replace.
That’s good if true about Eze’s window to leave and I agree that buying a centre half is one of the easier positions to fill although I think we realistically need two if Guehi goes.

However what about replacements for Schlupp and the now perennially injured Doucoure. I think we are looking a bit light on numbers in midfield/attack. Wharton has proven to be a little weak fitness wise and Eze normally picks up at least one knock per season. Franca is an unknown quantity as is Esse when it comes to playing more than just a cameo.

It always seems to be the case that we are about 3 injuries away from scraping the barrel and we can’t afford to do that in Europe.

Obviously there is time left to get bodies through the door but they are not going to get much of a pre-season.

Hmmm, how do you know that? Do you think that the backroom staff only sit down during closed season and decide to look at players or do you think that they are looking ahead all year round. Taking into concideration a players age, potential wages, availablity or even if there is a need for a position to be filled. Or on top of that does the player even want to sign or will their club release them etc, etc, etc.

Why would you think that Steve Parish or any of the staff have been doing nothing. based on what? media reports you've read?

We need to ask ourselves as supporters, as a club, if we could quite easily sign all the players we need on day one of the transfer window and then sit back and twindle our thumbs, why we don't actually do that. Could it be that its not actually possible for a club like Palace to do that all the time or even most of the time and are we any different from any other club in that regard...

Also, is it the job of the chairman to identify a signing, research their suitablity, equire as the their availablity, oversee the contract and pay up the fees or is there a team that does that?

Some on here have complained that Steve Parish has been giving too many interviews others like yourself say that the stadium news has gone quiet. Which is it. Too much or not enough.

And in regards to Wet Spam, we are linked with the same players as them EVERY season, along with Fulham and now Brentford too. We are all London clubs or clubs of similar stature. Nine times out of ten, it turns out we were never even interested in a player in the first place.

Everyone believes they know what is going on or has a handle on what needs to be done to make the club better. If it's that easy, why don't they do it? All we know is the speculation we get from those claiming to be in the know through click bait articles at the bottom of the HOL..

I can't wait for the season to start again. Every summer, same ole, same ole...

I expect Holding to go probably to a Championship club and probably on a free or minimum fee. I suspect that he's not a priority for any club but as the deadline looms and clubs get desperate.....

Same for Eddie although he is a little more expensive. He will have offers from Saudi and the USA if he doesn't want to drop down a level he will be harder to shift due to his Pl wages.

I think the main thing is what Glasner wants, we know he likes a smaller squad, maybe is happy with Lerma and Clyne along with Richards, Lacroix, Riad, and Guehi, or his replacement
The LWB is now covered, need a cover at RWB, unless he thinks Kporha is up to it.
CM two from Wharton, Kamada, Hughes, Devenny or Lerma
Sarr, Esse, Franca and Eze in the AM role, possible Rak-sakyi, i have a feeling we might loan Nwaneri from Arsenal.
CF Mateta and Nketiah, i dont include Edouard, so i think we are one CF light.
So IMO, RB cover and Mateta Cover is whats needed.

There is also the possibility that the club are waiting until the sale of Textor's shares to Woody is completed. That might not impact smaller transfers but for larger ones you would think it must have a bearing?

As it stands, we actually have a strong first XI. If no-one leaves then we are talking about providing added competition, so there is less of an urgency to have new players on the training pitch in early preseason. If one of our first-team leaves then that situation changes. Like others, I'm of the opinion that any significant deals may hinge on outgoings.

i wonder if when we extended his contract for a year, it was a new one year contract on lower wages

That would be insane (in a good way), but 9 goals in 37 appearances for Arsenal suggests it is also insane to think that would happen.

As we are at serious risk of losing nearly half the first team- Eze, Guehi, Mateta and Munoz, I suggest the club do get a move on and please avoid paying over the odds for other clubs cast offs like Nketiah etc.
While I suspect most of the talk on transfers out is just click bait, I suspect we will sell if the price/contract position is right.

Parish does seem to like to leave everything until late which does worry me and we will need a bigger squad for Europe.

Perhaps the big question is how much money we have with stadium costs allegedly going up and we do like a bargain.

Only time will tell and who knows if we sign no one else we just bring Wilf back. That would cheer folks up.

We are not losing half the squad. We have rumours every window. Guehi will go if price is right, everyone else will stay unless exceptional offer and be max 2 leave based on SP comments. Do agree earlier do business the better

One aspect of being in Europe (whichever competition) is the need to keep within UEFA's FFP rules which I think relate to wages as a percentage of income. It has been suggested that we might be close to tipping point. If so, then we may need to shift some players before we can buy any more.
