The Prem Relegation Dogfight

consider how much money clubs like Sunderland/Leeds get on Saturday's and give thanks we are still up in the promised Land.

Imagine being Charlton !!
Look at Luton. They look to be in another relegation battle at the wrong end of the championship. It's also taking Leeds a few more years to go back up.

If you want to have a moan about lack of ambition, Steve P, the Americans etc etc, there are plenty of other threads to choose from. This one is called relegation dogfight.
Er, yeah! It could be that the same thing happening season after season might have been noticed by those powers that be by now. One would have thought that the cartoon lightbulb might have appeared over the their collective heads and a "We get it now!" be uttered in unison. Until then, look forward to more exciting relegation dogfight threads...

Everton have sacked Dyche. They haven’t been playing well and can’t score. However I can’t help think this is a bad move by them.

We haven't been in a real relegation dogfight for years. Even the year Roy took over from FdB after 8 games without a win we quickly moved up the table and finished comfortably.
Being mostly in the bottom half of the table doesn't mean your club is in a relegation battle

In the last 6 games they've beaten Wolves 4-0 and drawn with Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. Their two defeats were against Forest and Bournemouth away. Results wise that's not too shabby. I hope they've made a mistake. It's about time they got relegated!

Can’t see Leicester moving on this quickly either. Moyes to Everton if all the stories are true. OG can’t say he hasn’t been backed relative to other clubs

On the bbc rolling news today, there was a lot of 'chatter' about Mourinho going there. Just reporting what I read.

Also on the bbc yesterday in a very long article

it said this

'Jose Mourinho, currently with Fenerbahce in Turkey, was linked with the job in the days before Dyche's sacking. He has, however, very mixed previous with the Friedkin Group at AS Roma. His team won the Europa Conference League in 2022, then reached the Europa League final the following year, losing on penalties to Sevilla before he was sacked almost exactly a year ago, and he is now out of the Everton running.'

So Moyes looks obvious even though he said:
"I don't want to be at the bottom of the league and fighting relegation, which I have had a few times, so we will see how things go."

Sorry David, that's not how it works, the jobs that come up are those with teams in trouble

While Everton has been a poison chalice in recent years, they have new owners ready to invest and a new stadium for next season with a large fan base. Short term it’s maybe not what Moyes would want, but assuming they survive, which seems likely, it’s a job with a lot going for it next season. I think he’ll take it.

After the West Ham win I decided to see what oddschecker thought of our chances of relegation,we have never been quoted over such a wide range anything you want from 20-1 against right up to 100-1 against.

I think we are now 'almost' safe for another season.

The recent run of points acquired (not necessarily performances) puts us on 27 points, 11 above the bottom 3 and all 3 promoted sides are struggling. In fact i'd say Saints and Leicester are already down.

Next few games are on paper ok so hopefully will we get more points.

If we beat Ipswich on 8th March that could/should put us on over 35 points and i can't see the bottom 3 getting to that total.

Well done OG and the team
