The Prem Relegation Dogfight

This is the first time in 6 years we are in the bottom 3, it brings a lot more excitement to the season. We have been lower midtable in recent seasons with no danger of going down or reaching European spots, a bit boring.
The Bookies who dont often get things wrong, dont think we are going down and place us at 6th favourites to drop.
Yes they do.

We are 6th favourites at the moment as we have the 6th most money chasing us from pundits who know nowt.

Roll on 3 months, if we remain in the top 6 likely candidates, remind me I wrote this and and then I will worry.

Southampton's new manager has not got an impressive record in terms of win % at former clubs :

Roma 33%, Torino 36%, Hellas Verona 29%, Genoa (2 spells) 29% and 20%.
given 21 games remaining and PPG values from former clubs

if he performs like Roma : E(P) =31.25
or Torino : E(P) = 34.09
or Hellas Verona : E(P) =30.25
or genoa depending on spell the E(P) is 15.5 to 28.5
mantova : E(P)=32.14
or the big bad Crotone in the italian third division E(p) 46.06

The caveat is that italian and especially italian third division management is not easily translatable to Premier league and accordingly i'd sort of expect these expectations to be high.

I've got to say that hiring Van Nistelrooy for Leicester was a bloody odd one. Relatively untried, and certainly inexperienced with relegation fights.

When you compare it to the managers the other teams have brought in as replacements it's looking worse and worse for them and I'd be surprised if he is still there at the end of the season. I don't think Srivaddhanaprabha senior would have made such a rash decision

Still though I'm not complaining! That fills a second of the three relegation spots 🙂

many commentators are now saying ManUre will be in a relegation fight.

oh please God , yes !!!!!!!!!!!!

and notwithstanding us thumping them regularly, we can now also finish above them in the Table.

If they carry on as they are, do the players really have what it takes to handle the pressure and stay up?

Stranger things have happened, like Leicester winning it.

Ironically Man Utd face quite a few of the same issues as us. A system manager who is reliant on good wingbacks and a high energy midfield which they don’t have along with a profligate attack. Mind you we ain’t paying our players £300k a week and didn’t spend £80m on the likes of Anthony.

Yesterday was a fantastic day for us. We got a valuable point from Chelscum. And Everton, Southampton & Leicester all lost their respective matches.

Today : Fulham vs Ipswich.

And it doesnt even matter if Ipswich win, cos ManUre will be getting thumped and will drop down into the relegation dogfight. Fingers crossed.

I wish I had your confidence. I do think it matters that Fulham get at least a draw. Ipswich are showing signs of a comeback . Man United will spend their way out of trouble.

It’s beginning to look like the three who came up will go back down unless Ipswich keep getting the odd win. I’d love to see Manure go down but that won’t happen. Everton deserve to go down as they’ve been flirting with relegation for years and still stick with grinding out defensive 0-0 draws
