The Prem Relegation Dogfight

Really poor showing by the promoted teams this year.

Same again next year?

Leeds, Sheffield United and 1 other possibly Burnley.
The gap between the promoted three and the rest last year and this year is enormous. Last year 27 points would have kept a team up. This year it looks like it will be something similar

All three have been terrible, wolves has got a couple of wins in them, I'd be surprised if the bottom 3 get more than 1 win between them before the end of the season. The gulf is getting bigger every season and unfortunately for the promoted teams, the majority of clubs in the league are well run and the ones who ain't, Everton and West ham, spend millions.

Been a bit of a shock with Southampton and Leicester having recently been in the PL. I’m thinking Leeds might be ok next year and possibly Burnley if they keep that defence.
Otherwise there may be a clamour to reduce or eradicate promotion and relegation to the PL. Would sit very comfortable with American owners.

Could see it being reduced to 2 spots. It be pretty much a closed shop every year then.

From the onset if PL, they would have preferred a closed shop. Unfortunately clubs they wanted ( those with big fan bases) like Birmingham, Leeds haven’t been able to live up to expectations. The more influence Americans have, the more likely relegation disappears

Thus far, the bottom three have mustered 9 League wins between them in the 84 games they have played. There are 30 games left for them to play until the end of the season.

I was watching a replay of Southampton against Liverpool the yesterday and although they lost I have to say they looked a decent team. I can't figure out why they've done so badly when just minutes later I watched Leicester play an out of form Chelsea and it was really quite clear why they are in a relegation spot.
Mind you I wouldn't mind having Patson Daka as a super sub next season if we can get him on the cheap.

To be fair Southhampton and Ipswich do play some decent football. And in pure footballing terms, they are not terrible.

However in this league, so many games are won and lost on fine margins. And on this front they are woeful

They are neat and tidy but pretty toothless. They also can’t defend as a team so are likely to always conceded two or three goals a game.

He wasn't cheap when Leicester purchased him from RB Salzburg - He cost £27 Mill !
He has featured 15 times in the PL this season, 13 from the bench. He has scored 1 goal.
Certainly very fleet of foot.
