I’m slowly thinking the bbc are realising the 2TK will be taking them down so they need to start being a bit more truthful and independent for their own protection from public backlash. I feel that there will be stories coming out which we may not have seen a couple of months back, you know ones we should see.
 
I know this is a forum where we're supposed to discuss wide ranging topics and toss around intellectual opinions about all manner of subjects.

But, this Labour government in general and Starmer in particular just leave me speechless. What on earth were people thinking when they voted them in.

That’s pretty obvious. The previous government were deeply unpopular.

That the new one has a mountain to climb isn’t their fault. Most people understand that and are a lot more tolerant than the users here.

Inevitably they will be blamed for many things that aren’t their fault, just as the previous one was. If the Tories get their act together then there is no reason why they cannot regain power in 5 years. What they mustn’t do is abandon the centre and concentrate on fighting or imitating Remain. They must distance themselves from those politics.
 
The only thing that surprised me about Labour is how quickly they got their snouts into the trough, showed their incompetence and broke their promises to the electorate.

I was hoping that they would at least wait a few years for this.

Can someone suggest where I can get a bulk order of "I Told You So T Shirts".

For the last few years I have regularly clashed with some on this board who claimed that the Tories were dirty (true) and Labour were clean. I pointed out that the only reason Labour were clean was that they were not the ones in power and if they ever did get in we would see the same as the Tories, I just didn't think it would happen so quickly.

Meet the new boss same as the old boss.

Reset relations with the EU.

Really? Any evidence of that? Starmer has held a meeting and the EU have given him a list of their demands but so far nothing has happened. You can't call this a win until Labour actually agree a new deal with the EU and even then it doesn't mean it will be a good deal.

It seems a lot on the list are aspirations not achievements, nothing wrong with that but you can't call that a win until they actually deliver.
 
How can we tell that we have a new government - apart from their policies being more right wing than the last Tory government and the sleaze being more blatant.

That's not a bad list, considering that the new government, having been in opposition for 14 years, has to start delivering having had no experience of ever doing so,

The media has not changed, it's the same old looking for trash.

Worse of course the BOE and the treasury rule, they have not changed, the diet they have given to the public for 14 years continues, the new chancellor a former banker herself.
