Team and predictions for Shelbourne

Our next Conference League match coming up on Thursday, the knock to Munoz could come as a blessing in disguise giving him some much needed rest, so I'd like to see Clyne at RWB again. He did a very competent job against a decent Premier League team.
I'd say one of either Canvot or Sosa should be fielded as well and Eddie up front with Pino and Kamada behind.

We've struggled against lesser opposition in this competition so far but I think this time we'll manage a decent 2-0 win.

The Irish league ended last month, so how that will affect Shelbourne in terms of preparation will be interesting. We're very much in the zone and focused and really shouldn't struggle for the win (doesn't mean we won't though!) I think they'll be dogged and physical, but we'll come out 0-3 winners.

They won the league. I watched them a couple of times. They'd be physical and direct. Will put long balls into the box. But the standard is no higher than League One. Probably similar to non league in general, frankly. It will help us that they've finished. They will have likely lost players. I presume some are semi pro but have never particularly followed Shelbourne. I go to the odd league of Ireland match and my team are in their division. We have mostly semi pro.

We should be able to field a weaker team and still win (with just a couple of first teamers). If needs be put the big boys on later on. They really are due a rest. I think Glasner will start a strong 11 (probably wise I guess) but I would start.....

Benitez
Richards Lerma Canvot
Clyne Sosa
Esse Hughes Pino

Uche Nketiah

How did your team do against them?

I'm not sure if we need anything from this game.
I would play fringe players mostly, and see how we go. Perhaps even some youth.

But that fool Glasner has ignored all my previous pre-match advice this season, so watch again as he ignores me, and it all comes good.

We definitely need something from this game, otherwise we're stuck needing three points from the last game against KuPS.

I'm sure we'll be near full strength, no Munoz of course, and probably Canvot in the back three and Sosa instead of Mitchell. The rest of them should be the usual names.

Glasner will go full strength 🤣 hopefully game is won early and he can rotate after 60 mins.
Agreed. In any case, when you field a weaker team and find yourself struggling to break the oppo down or even find yourself behind, bringing on the big guns often doesn't work. We need to have the game won by HT and then we can give players like Uche, Esse and Devenny some decent minutes in the 2nd half without them being under pressure to score the winner etc.

Good call, but would like to see Pino given a rest, perhaps Devenny instead of him. He may be a fringe player for us but he is still one of Northern Ireland's best players, and would walk into their team. Needs some proper game time too.
I agree Pino needs a rest but maybe Eddie in as he isn’t yet exhausted? would like to give Devenny some minutes but I wonder if, against a lesser team it would be better at CM?

If we had qualified already then I could see some of these suggested lineups happening. But I do not think OG will consider that before we are over the line. So I expect a strong, maybe even full strength lineup. Someone mentioned giving Devenny a run out instead of Pino earlier and I think that would be a smart move but otherwise minimal starting changes for me.

I thought that's the one where you bring sticks on to the field whack each other and say that didn't hurt. I might have got confused in the Hurley burly of it all.

Yes, that should be the team, i would put Esse the right where Olise played, and Pino left, good team
In his Fulham post match presser Glasner said he was about to bring on Esse. I won’t be surprised if he gets some serious minutes possibly even starting. But it is make/break for the lad who has to prove that he can be disciplined and work for the team as he has shown in training. I hope this is the start of something great for him as the squad needs less bums on seats and more contributors.
