Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Bit depressing watching Forest buying a tonne of players. Despite their sale of Elanga and Danilo I'm not quite sure how they're keeping in with PSR. Thought they had less wiggle room than a pair of Marinakis' trousers.

Here's hoping they all flop and another points deduction.

I was thinking the same after seeing a headline that they had agreed a fee for McAtee.

And by the sounds of it Arnaud Kalimuendo, Omari Hutchinson and Douglas Luiz are close too. Add that to Ndoye and the couple from Botofogo and it will be 200m or so.

I wonder if there isn’t a creative answer to the Guehi contract . Offer a three year deal , more money sign on bonus and a low release price that kicks in after a year. That way he’s better off and we get a fee. Set the release at 35-40 and he will still be snapped up.

Meanwhile 67 pages in and we have a 2m pound left back and a free keeper.

They'll get a points deduction, which they'll appeal. Get a couple of points deducted like last time, case closed.
What we're missing most is Freedman, with him he identified, signed our best players, without him we've got Parrish who's more concerned about the unfairness of UEFA than signing new players. In short I believe, despite the wealth of our owners, we're skint and no-one is in charge of recruitment.

We are in a new FFP window.

Forest has sold around 120m worth of players and only spent so far done deals around 70m

It would be a delicious sense of irony if having replaced us in the EL Forest then fell foul of UEFA's financial rules and they got an eye-watering fine.

With regard to us, do you think Moody and Dougie's number 2 have exhausted the list Freedman left behind and that's why nothing is happening? I am starting to worry that it's not just a case of a lack of money to spend but a lack of ability to spend what we do have. After the rumours around deals for the Sporting and Inter defenders went quiet, and Guessand joined Villa, we haven't really seen much speculation. Does Parish have as much faith in his current recruitment team?

Great for us - but no so for the player (if they value money over playing time in a World Cup year)

That £30m a club spends on buying him - if there's no fee he can get a slice of it in his terms.

Exactly. Stay at Palace, get regular game time, play in the World Cup. Sign for Liverpool or a top European side next summer and pocket a much larger signing on fee. The only downsides are a year of getting by on his ‘pitiful’ salary at Palace and the risk of injury putting paid to his cunning plan. Signing a new contract with Palace, whatever the terms, makes a big dent in any signing on fee he can expect when he moves. Palace can’t force him to leave now, nor can they force him to sign a new contract. My feeling is that he will stay.

Unfortuently I dont think a fine will hurt them, Marinakis is worth 5b. And cant see him having an issue with just fronting it up.

The recruitment subject is a very interesting one. And even more pertinent with DFs departure.

It might be naivety on my part, but I at least, categories scouting/recruitment in to 2 brackets:

The bleeding obvious - In which most players fall. To someone who does this as a job, a player for sporting or Inter is hardly something you need to 'find'. And nor was Wharton, Olise, Eze, Esse - they were all hot prospects and very widely spoken about.

The moneyball - Think MacAllister for Brighton, Brentford and more recently Bournemouth. Players that aren't already winning plaudits. Or playing in a non traditional league, or is putting up a specific number that might be overlooked by the masses, but fit a role you need.

What I'm not trying to do is play down the importance of the role/department, but most of what most clubs do fits into the first category. Particularly the higher up the pyramid you go.

e.g. give me a couple of hours and the internet and I'll be able to give you a list of 20 centre backs across Europe that are worth looking at.

Which is why, to me at least, quite a lot of this isn't really 'scouting' in its purest sense. Its working out what of a long list of potential players would actually come to you. For example I think its safe to assume that Lacroix and Kamada are only with us because of Glasner (probably liked the manager and was happy with the role available).

So it makes me wonder what is going on that we dont know about, that makes it harder than find a player, buy a player....We might have spoken to Guessand, but was more guaranteed of a starring spot at Villa. Bissek has only just make his international debut, he might only be prepared to come if MG has already gone. etc etc

Well if by new window you mean we're a year on. Forrest spent big in 22/23 which now confined to history.

The new FFP window has just started this is why some clubs did business early and then waited for other deals because it would be in 2 different windows.

Never rated Moody and it shows again our low standards to even have him part time on the books & it would not surprise me if Super Al the way you keep seeing him about has a role in the club as well.

Notice how quiet Woody has been since the takeover.

I think you're missing out a third component which is not just scouting/recruiting the player, but also deciding on how well they'd fit into our playing system and club culture. Dougie (supposedly) placed a big emphasis not only on ability but also personality, which is reflected in the strong cohesion of the team and which has been a big part of our success. Another big factor is something Parish has alluded to is value. As others have said, some big fees have been thrown around this summer for unexceptional players. Championship clubs have also raised the stakes, asking huge fees for relatively unproven young players. It increasingly feels like the club might end up rummaging through the bins out the back of M&S to see if there's anything good that's been discarded, like we did with Sosa.

Yep completely fair.

And 100% on the bargain bin, we need to use it unashamedly!

Lerma was a free, and given his versatility is an absolute god send. Verdict is still out of Kamada, but terrific pedigree and now part of a cup winning team.

Isn't Freedman still retained as some kind of consultant for the club? I seem to recall reading that somewhere. Anyway, this window looks like it's going to go to the wire (again) which might piss off Glasner a bit but it's an ever-shifting landscape and players who weren't available at the beginning of the window may well all of a sudden be there for the taking as it nears its close. I suspect that there's already a list of potential targets anyway. It's the Palace way!

3 Sensible Loans that would improve the squad

Kang-in Lee (PSG) 69k AM left footed, Squad player
Joe Willock (Newcastle) CM 80k, pay 50k
Ben Davies (Spurs) 100k Pay 50%

No motivation for him to do that sadly. He'll be thinking that if he waits until next summer and the transfer fee is removed, he can demand a much higher basic wage instead.
