It’s easy, and often justified to dismiss transfer speculation as ‘clickbait,’ but a couple of stories have caught my attention in recent days.
One concerns Kamada being linked with a Turkish club.
It might seem strange, a Glasner favourite who was showing encouraging form, but on the other hand (like Guehi) with a contract expiring at the end of the season.
Perhaps the business imperatives kick in with a view to realising some value on Kamada.
The other story concerned a Franca return to Brazil on loan.
However, buried in the story was that we were prepared to sell but couldn’t agree a fee so an initial loan is under consideration.
The deal to sell Edouard has stalled, there’s no apparent progress on the sale of JRS and there doesn’t seem to be any takers for Ahamada.
It seems to me that one of the reasons we have been ‘passive’ in the market is that we haven’t been able to shift players.
As others have pointed out, it would not be prudent( and we may not be able to fund) replacements for Guehi and Eze before they leave.
However, I’m beginning to wonder if we can add even to the squad at all if we don’t raise monies from the sale of Guehi and/or Eze.
I suspect something has happened to the financials meaning that the club could no longer honour the promise to support Glasner early in the market .
There has to be a reason for our lack of activity when you look at the gaps in the squad and the injuries that we are carrying.
We haven’t even exploited the loan market.

Some of those can be put down to player preference for other clubs or ‘crazy prices’ , but I do wonder if we have to raise funds first before buying .
