Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Perhaps this is the nub of the matter from an interview with Parish yesterday.
I get the impression we have to sell before we can buy.
He goes on to the say the situation on Guehi has to be resolved implying that’s either a new contract for him or a sale.
I suspect at least either Guehi or Eze will go before the end of the window.
Thanks PatA.
Also he’s hardly gonna be saying that we are rolling in cash, so please come and mug us for your cast offs !

There is no doubt about it that the situation with Guehi is tricky. If we dont sell him, we know that we're going to have to find £30m(?) next summer to replace him.

Virgil didn't cover himself in glory yesterday....

I know a bunch wont agree, but I do feel for Steve

'The Premier League is kind of crazy, the money that people spend and the kind of financial jeopardy that people take. So I have to look at everything around [that]'

Naturally cautious, and probably rightly so, personally wealthy, but poor compared to most in this game. Must be close to impossible when there is always another club willing to completely overspend on targets.

Lets hope Woody is willing to just chuck 50m in to get that couple we need.

I've come around a bit to that way of thinking too.
I've been a bit critical of the lack of support for Glasner, but with an ignorance of the actual financial position possibly leading to that lack of support.
I've no reason to disbelieve Parish in this regard.
I don't envisage much in the way of significant activity unless we sell first.

I get that we can't throw £100 million at the squad, but so far Wrexham have spent four times as much as us this window! If he manages to sell Guehi that's likely only going to cover the cost of his replacement after the transfer fee, agent fees, wages, etc. The club made a profit on transfers last summer, so it's not like this is another summer of big spending. Maybe he's playing the poverty act to get better deals and if so then fair play to him, but the Athletic reported Palace had a kitty as high as £90 million this summer, so you wonder what the real picture is. My worry is after yesterday's heroic showing Parish will tell Glasner he thinks we can get buy with little more investment.

I saw that figure of £90 million too, but is it accurate and verified and are the assumptions correct?
None of us on here know for sure.
Parish continually refers to the need for 'smart deals.'
It's difficult on Guehi.
Liverpool can afford to play a waiting game on Guehi, unless (hopefully) somebody else comes in to start a bidding war.
It's clear that Parish can't countenance him going for free

What I find quite difficult is that everyone complains about the amount of money we've not spent. We've never normally been "big spenders" in the transfer market. We do smart business - you look at our current squad and we have some absolute world beaters, all of their market value is higher (at least double) than what we've paid for them.

We need more players in the door and ideally would have done this earlier in the window. However, when we need to make 1 or 2 marquee signings (given that we are looking to replace Guehi and probably Eze) this is almost impossible to do when you don't even know which competition you will be playing in. The club have had to put alot of focus on the appeal to make sure they get it right. If we sign a few players before the deadline and come January had a settled squad, performing well, top 10 of the Prem, Europa League football - no one would be complaining.

As always with Palace, wait until the window closes to make your judgements - not 3 weeks before!

It's a fair point, but we also have a history of not doing enough in the summer and having to address the issue in January, as seen in the last two seasons. It's not unreasonable that consecutive managers have questioned our transfer business, even if it has worked out well in the end. Parish has now stated that he wants to sell Guehi, so that means we need two new centre-backs now, not just one. We're closer to our squad getting smaller than bigger, with Eduoard and Rak-Sakyi almost certainly not in Glasner's plans. I'm not criticising anyone, but we will need a huge amount of luck with injuries and fitness if we don't sign at least two or three more players.

Wrexham have a great global commercial setup which is why they are able to do this (The model they are using may only be short term so they must by a set season date need to hit the Premier League)

It an area I have said he have been poor in because SP is more of National not Worldwide business man. (We should have been selling merchandise in US almost a decade ago & multi club is great business move some one being against it doesn't understand global market)

A new FFP window has started which means we can't use excuse we have no money this is what I believe the reports are using when they say we have so much to spend.

I think the decision today is Massive, if its Europa i think Guehi will extend buy a year, the financial benefits are massively different, we will be looking at a different market.

I know there has been a lot of talk about the European situation and if it makes a difference or not. But the whole qualifying thing with the conference league makes it a massive deal IMO.

As we stand, if things dont go our way we might be out of Europe by the 28th August.

Or if we win the appeal today we'll have 8 guaranteed European games.

If I was a player looking to take a step up in my carer and play some European football, there is no way I'm signing for Palace at the moment. I'd be waiting to se what happened today. And if that isn't successful, waiting until late August.

(If we batter Fredrikstad 4.0 in the home leg I'd sign then!)

I'm predicting a shocking ref making lot's of interesting decisions to stop Palace protesting on TV beyond the play off game. Hope i'm wrong and we win it now

It's in our own hands so if we don't qualify that is on us and only us to blame.

When you look at the teams we should have no problem winning this if we don't it shows we was not ready or not enough investment.

Players don't sign to play in Europa or Conf that is one of the most stupid arguments people keep coming out with (many players and former players have even confirmed this Champions League is only one people care about)

I dont believe that for a moment. Care to find some proof?

I bet there are thousands upon thousands of players who never played a game of Europen football but would have loved to.

We're not going for the top top players who want/expect CL football. We are going for the upper middle, in which European football might make them prefer us to Fulham, or Bournemouth.

To dismiss it as not relevant is absurd.

Wilf even said it.

What you are saying doesn't fit in and the mindset of a top athlete is they want to play in the best competition and get paid the highest amount of money.

No one said we was going for champions league players (you could even say we should be not established ones but fridge or future ones) you really are not understanding it maybe because you have never been around or competed in any sport.

It comes down to ambition again and what do we want to just be sitting in same spot every year not taking any risks I remember other clubs doing that resulting in down the line being in relegation battles.

Lol, lets not take Wilfs opinion to be reflective of all.

Take a potential championship incomming, e.g. Hayden Hackney, I have no doubt that he'd be buzzing to play European football.

Its nothing to do with long term ambition. And doesn't mean that players dont have ambition to go higher. In the short term it jsut means that we are a slightly more attractive proposition than some of our peers.

When it comes to , will players want to come or not. Things have only got better, We have been a decent mid-Premier league team for quite a while, and the lure of playing in the Premier league is a big pull anyway .
Right now we are major trophy winners, if we can afford them they will come. But there’s the problem ,if we can afford.
Every club likes to buy improvements. As Parish says to improve our first eleven it would cost probably more than we have got, that doesn’t mean that the squad can not be given a numbers boost, even that though is going to be expensive.
Parish, knows four top signings would turn us into top contenders, but the monies not there. All we can hope is the squad numbers are improved and we get on with being Palace lapping up every bit of success and riding this fantastic period in our history for as long as we can.
