Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

I will be very happy if he stays. Will be great for Palace and him. He is a key part of our set up. Guaranteed first team football and we will prepare him well for England next year. 🤞🏼
Will be happy if he stays obviously only if he signs an extension and doesn't run down his contract and leaves for nowt at the end of it .

Out of the 3 scenarios; being sold, staying for another year, signing a new contract I would say the latter has the lowest probability. I just can't see it happening, so we have to decide what's best sell him at a lower fee to his preferred club or we have a top CB for another year and then wish him well.

Ive given up trying to pre guess our board. One thing in our favour is that Parish through his self taught methods is pretty well versed in all this stuff and will no doubt have already weighed up all possible options. I also believe he builds good relationships with the players so with any luck they will find a good resolution.

Everton were reported to have been willing to pay -£75M for Wilf and his contract situation left us with nothing.

Spurs were reported to have offered £75M for Marc also.

Whilst I concede both players have brought additional value to our club by staying I would be extremely upset to repeat the mistakes I think we made with Wilf.

We do not need Marc’s contract situation to destabilize the squad with rumors and gossip. We need to give him until the end of the month to sign an extension or he goes to the highest bidder and we move forward with a replacement.

We're not in Houston! Talk is he is set on Liverpool and prepared to run his contract down. Of course, he will have to take into account that Liverpool may go in a different direction, he could get a bad injury and he won't be exactly the most popular player next season

Wilf staying beyond his time was undoubtably detrimental to the relationship that he had built with the club & supporters, but whilst its clear that there was a confirmed offer for him from Arsenal it was well below the amount required & it had payments staggered over a number of years, which made in unacceptable, Arteta wanted Wilf, the director of football wanted Pepe, then when the Wilf offer was knocked back they went & wasted £72 million on Pepe.

The director of football at Everton went on record ( about 3 months after the rumoured Everton bid that you refer to) He said that Everton had never made the offer that had been reported in the media.

So its difficult to understand what else SP could have done.

Why?

Big fish small pond. And if we progress in Europe and we have a chance of ECL the following (don't laugh - not till the Spring anyway) he may want to stay and can dictate terms.

I'm hearing we're linked with another goalkeeper - Chelsea youngster. Plus Benitez. I guess we needed one for the back up role but why we need a young one whilst ours play at the highest youth levels is beyond me. We do love a goalie or two though.

We have a very capable goalkeeper in our ranks, Owen Goodman, who was impressive on Loan at AFC Wimbledon last season keeping 25 'Clean sheets'.
It is likely that he will go out on Loan again next season, to Huddersfield, whose new manager Lee Grant was an experienced goalkeeper with nearly 500 games to his name.

Palace have just had Louie Moulden the 1st choice U21 GK leave, transferred to Norwich. Still not sure what is happening with Goodman & Whitworth, tho i have read(somewhere) that Goodman is to have a medical at Huddersfield.

If he continues to play the way he has done the last few years there'll be no shortage of offers from teams who can pretty much guarantee him champions League football next season, and don't forget he's free to sign a pre-contract with them 6 months before the end of his contract. So our progression in the Europa League could be irrelevant.

I wouldn't begrudge him a move to a top side after he's captained us in our greatest ever season, but my main hope is it's either for a decent fee this summer or after another fantastic season where we'll hopefully be well placed to find a replacement. If he was going to sign a new contract I think it would have been sorted already, but I'm happy to be proved wrong. A lot can happen in a year in football and on his part it's a slight risk in relation to injuries etc but he seems to have his screwed on and will make a good decision for his own career.

With Joe Whitworth now showing as a member of the first team squad, and Owen Goodman also highly regarded, we have two early 20s goalies. Not sure why we would want another at that age. There may be something relating to bench warming and getting game time for these young men, which would indicate that a 30 to 30 yo goalie as a reserve could be useful. I am sure that others will be able my understanding in this area and comments are welcome.

That is not how it works though is it? The highest bidder? Then force the player to sign....? Marc is in charge of his own destiny. And given the silverware we won I would not call it a mistake to turn down 70m even if he would walk on a free.

I have always really appreciated the moral and professional approach from Marc over his time with us. Olise fell into that category too in how he conducted himself and we received £50M for his services.

As long as all the people involved (player, agent, club etc) are on the same page then any outcome will be acceptable.

Time will tell for sure!

There is also the 20 percent sell on fee to be taken into consideration when agreeing any fee for Marc .

Well, I suppose Palace could try and get Marc to sign a new contract with the same end date, a salary increase to 106,000 a week (putting him ahead of Kamada) but including a release clause of 20 million. Liverpool would still pay that next summer without blinking considering they got half of that for TAA without him missing any game time for them. And Chelsea would not benefit
