Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

It just reminded me of the signings of Munoz and Kamada. Munoz getting towards end of contract - not young although not old. Low fee - but has been great. If he hadn't have done so well, he wouldn't have had much sell on value. Great deal in the end.
Kamada - free, high wages (which I think would be similar if we sign this guy). Isn't really going to have a sell on value as such. But adds the type of experience we require. And has ended up being pretty good (after not quite the same start as Munoz).
Plus, obviously we do need a left back and why pay if we can get one on a free? I actually thought Chilwell started to look good but I couldn't help but wonder what silly price may have been put on him. I would think realistically maybe 25 mil. But I bet Chelsea would ask 45 mil. He'll probably sell for around 35 mil - just a guess. Still a lot for us.
I very much doubt that a club will pay £35 Mill for his services.

Could well be right AS. My initial reaction to this story was that a 31 yr old doesn't fit our profile, but I guess Ollie may well be looking to bolster our squad for our European campaign. So, a short term approach could be an opportunity to assess our performance.
We could be getting off lightly with just a free transfer and his wages.

I’ve just read Real Madrid have paid Liverpool in excess of £10 million to secure ‘free transfer’ Alexander Arnold a few weeks earlier so that he can pay in a club tournament.

Perhaps we should try and sell Real Madrid Holding or the Chagos Islands!

Yes, i think you may be right, but, if you discount Muñoz who has singed a extension to his contract, then IMO Eze and Mateta are the hardest to replace, i wouldn't be too upset if we started with, Lee Kang-In, Emergha and Sarr starting as our front three.
Well the good news is, he hasn’t completely set fire to it 🤣

I’d Chilwell on loan. We’re not rich enough to spend £25-£35m on a full back

This seems to go against our model of buying younger players with sell on prices. If true I can only assume that this is a temporary strategy.

We will need extra players next season for Europe but be honest how many of us expect to be in Europe season after season? So bringing in stop gap players on maybe shorter contracts as cover makes sense, as long as the club doesn't saddle us with ageing players on long term contracts.
I think we will have to operate outside of that previous transfer strategy this Summer. We have a squad to build that needs to be capable of performing in Europe and the Premier league which we have never done before. We will have to recruit players who have experience and to be opportunistic with free transfers in order to find the right characters and have a team who can perform in every competition.

Personally agree with you that we may see more short term contracts than normal this Summer, to bring in useful squad members who aren't expecting 3-4 year contracts.

Re: Mandava, I don't remember watching him at all this season but I have seen him in the past and he would be a really decent option as long as he's recovered from his ACL injury in 2023. Bringing him in doesn't necessarily mean we don't look at another option who can play at LWB also.

The club wont change the approach it never has before.

We will work off the same old lists and some new options could be presented to us due to European football (This has negative in wages/bonuses will be higher) or if we get funds via selling key players.

Many areas we are still weak which is not something new? we have no cover for left or right back.

Not sure how any of the players that was loaned out have a role in our side.

Positives are we have cleared out some more people now we need to try clear more but its tough because the likes of Holding are currently injured, someone one like Doucoure may need to go a loan deal could be good but he is also injured currently.

May i ask, when did Holding get injured? As he was in Sheff Utd's matchday squad for their play-off final last Saturday(24th).

I'd prefer a better player for the position but if Palace decide they only need a backup for Mitchell then Spurs have released Reguilon. For all I know, he may want to return to Spain and he would be a bit of a reclamation project but he was highly rated before he moved to England as a Spain international and his transfer fee was greater than what we have paid for anyone
Still only 28 and currently on 55,000 so maybe worth a punt if Glasner thinks he can work in his system

I'm sure I'll get shut down from some of you for this but could we please lock this thread and go back to individual posts for rumours. Thats the whole point in having the transfer forum, rather than traipsing through unrelated waffle on one post until you find anything worthwhile reading. Just a suggestion.
