Sentences too harsh!

The country being issued stay at home orders and instructed not to meet others, shops, schools, etc being shut is closing down.
Are you still pushing the idea that because restrictions were imposed that means the country closed down?

It’s so obviously untrue that nothing more really needs to be said.

It didn’t close. It was restrained, required to be cautious and live and work in different ways. But it didn’t close down. It survived because of the actions. A few things closed permanently, probably businesses which were doomed to fail anyway and whose demise was hastened by the crisis, but most survived to resume their activities just as soon as the brakes came off.

My bowling club is an example. We had to cease all bowling activities, but were supported by grants to enable us to pay our bills. We (me actually) organised online activities to maintain the community and as soon as the restrictions eased organised socially distanced outside activities within the rules. We didn’t close. It actually increased the social cohesion and resulted in a stronger community which is thriving.

Right. It wasn't open and you weren't allowed to go there. But it wasn't closed.

The Great Replacement Throry isn’t widely discredited, Truro boy.
There is no great replacement theory. That is a phrase used by dimwits who deny mathematical realities and have no understanding of demographics.

The sad fact is that population predictions say that the White British will be a minority within a few decades. Once that tipping point is reached, it will just be a matter of time.

Only those with an agenda will try to politicise this. It is just extrapolation based on known facts.

There is no point in arguing this with those whose only desire is to argue for the sake of it.

No, as I have patiently explained several times, whilst the clubhouse and green were out of action, the club itself wasn’t. It operated in a different way, but continued to provide social contact, online activities and a support network. We had meetings to organise these things on Zoom, held quizzes and played games. The local theatre group had nightly online play readings. Other clubs went into hibernation, but didn’t close. Their structure remained intact and ready to resume activities as soon as they were allowed to.

The same was true of the whole country. It adapted and it waited. It didn’t close down. Some were more isolated than others, because of individual circumstances but as a whole we survived intact.

If something is not open and you're not allowed to go there it's closed no matter how much you try to deny it.

As is depressingly usual this response completely misses the point.

The issue has nothing to do with mathematics, or categories of people however they are defined.

It’s the fact that you cannot extrapolate anything from what is today and reach any kind of conclusion on what will be tomorrow.

Why? Because what we are today won’t be what we are tomorrow. People change, they mix, they absorb, they adopt different ideas, standards and behaviour. The longer people live in a culture the greater they will accept and belong to that culture, modifying the culture a little as they do. This has happened ever since people moved from place to place. So since mankind has existed.

We may well not look the same in 50 or 100 years from now, and being British won’t mean exactly the same as it does now, but the same is true of today and when I was a child in the post WW2 era. We are still British and we will always be British.

What we mustn’t do is erect barriers, exclude people or encourage enclaves. We must avoid otherness. If people have chosen to make their homes here then we must do all we can to make them as welcome as we can. Make them proud to call here home and inspired by the love they have received. Not embittered by the hatred or racists.

I am not denying that individual buildings and businesses were temporarily closed. That’s obvious.

What I am denying is that the country was closed down. That’s an out and out lie and just as obvious. During the lockdowns the facilities of my bowling club closed, but the club itself functioned, albeit in a restricted way. The country experienced many similar experiences.

My bowling club is closed now. It won’t open again until 10 am tomorrow. Does that mean the whole country has closed down? I got a text from a member an hour ago. The club is functioning!

Yes. Go out at 3 AM and see what's open.

So you don't believe in climate change?

If one of your tenants won't pay his rent do you...
A. Make him proud and inspired by showing love?
B. Involve his community leader?
C. Kick his arse to the curb and move in someone else?

Not a bl00dy bowling club then, is it? Many people needed physical activity and that’s very important for older people to stay healthy.

Your last paragraph is pathetic.

Demographics has everything to do with maths. Labour aren’t very good at maths, are they?

Integration is getting worse. You don’t want to admit or even see it anyway. ‘We must avoid enclaves’. Ok, Mr Ostrich. Take a look around areas that are relevant and then another area down the road. Have a listen to how young Asians and young black youths sound now. It’s just another thing distancing themselves from the rest of us. It isn’t wise if you’re interested in a professional job in the private sector, but otherwise, it’s part of an identity to know and show they’re different rather than ‘avoiding otherness’ as you put it and has been the growing trend for over 30 years now.

I am loving the ignore button and so is my blood pressure. 😀

Totally agree, he was never here for honest debate just the wind up.

Respect to those who want to engage with that troll and they frequently make mincemeat of him but I agree with you that it's just bad for the blood pressure.

good point. We white British are made up of part Viking (Danish, Norwegian etc), Central European following the Roman invasions, Irish and French etc so let's face it there isn't that much pure British in us!

Personally i have some Polish in me as a grandmother i never met was born there. I feel 100% British.
