You're assuming there's a competent manager out there with PL experience who wants to come in. Easy to sack people - not so easy to replace them with the right calibre of person. BTW we haven't spunked 200m in the last 3 windows never mind the last 2.

I think you’ve made a perfectly rational and reasoned point there Doombear. Unfortunately, you’re rather overlooking the fact that you’re replying to a renowned heart surgeon, successful London businessman and racehorse owner.

Clearly, a man of such extraordinary accomplishments is operating on an intellectual plane that mere mortals like ourselves could never hope to comprehend.

Frankly, I’m surprised he can find the time to grace us with his wisdom between performing lifesaving surgery, overseeing his business empire and checking on his thoroughbreds.

What’s strange is we are all Palace fans.. we can all see the failings. Someone put up a trepidation post for the season before it started. Why is everyone so meek and don’t realise that if things continue like this, without change, we are going down. Forget about cups, we lost all our special players and bought Brennan and JSL.

Not a popular opinion but if we go down it's not the end of the world. Many on here have been through the experience several times and survived. It's obviously not enjoyable getting stuffed every week but at the end of the season we go on, just playing different teams.
The Premier League is all very nice but it isn't meant for clubs like ours and they and the media heaved a sigh of relief when Leicester turned out to be a blip so they could get back to fawning over their favourites.
Just for a season or so it would be quite nice to look at the fixtures and not write off half the games as damage limitation.

Absolutely this. Id rather we stayed up but not if it meant chucking the europa league in our one and only attempt at it. We signed a big squad so we can have a real go at it.

I wonder how many Burnley fans thought something similar!

I think that's true. In his defence, the 'best eleven' is to an extent determined by who the opposition is. If you play Arsenal it's (well, probably theoretical anyway) one group and if it's, say, Hull, another.
Agreed and to be fair we’ve had a lot of injuries and a large turnover of players as well. It’s not so much a criticism of Sage as a comment on where the squad is. Lots of players of seemingly similar ability but very few putting in performances that mean they are first choice in their position.
