I look forward to the 'Margaret Thatcher Conference' (Remaking Conservatism) in London tomorrow.
Hopefully, out of the rich stew of ideas and debate, an intoxicating new recipe will emerge.

Them winning a few councils is probably the best thing that could happen longer term. Fairly limited wider damage other than for those living in the councils they run.

When the charlatans actually have to run something rather than just shout anti-immigrant rhetoric from the sidelines people will soon see what a shambles they are (and already proving to be).

You can cope as much as you like Dan.

Reform are literally a party that's two years old and here is you picking out brownie points for Starmer all based upon him waffling about foreign wars.

Just watch your liar of a hero drop like a stone once he starts stripping money from the disabled.

Two years old and already imploding under the weight of their own egos.

Sorry Willo I don't mean to have a go at you personally but seriously is that's what the Conservatives have to offer to Reform voters????

Is he having a laugh?

Promoting war with Russia because 'Putin bad'.....which will get our lads killed for bugger all....oh sorry, all so we can protect the liberal order in Europe. I bet Ukraine can't wait for the pride parades and third world immigration.

His party pushed DEI in the military, outright anti white policies. His party cut our traditional military size to something that couldn't even take the Falklands back if Argentina re-invaded....not even close.

Pushing a policy like Rwanda as some kind of realistic deterrent to illegal immigration when we hardly sent anyone there regardless and the whole unit couldn't hold more than a couple of hundred? Really is he serious?

Illegal immigration is a joke compared to legal immigration which his party outright betrayed us on.....and has lied about in every manifesto post WW2......But what, 'trust them now'? Johnson imported millions and the Tories in parliament cheered him on.

I don't have a spine constructed of particularly weak blancmange, accordingly I am not a chap of heightened sensitivity ! Someone once commented that like a garden laurel I benefit from rough treatment ! Feel free to place me in the pillory !!

Apropos the article, I agree with the general thrust of the comments regarding 'Reform'.

Well yeah, that's because you're a Tory.

Reform exist because of what the Tories said they would do.....and then what they actually did.

You are literally in a Blairite party.......Hague and Jeremy Hunt were his fanboys.....Sunak himself with his 'diversity built Britain' coin.

No chance of winning back Reform voters.....Reform isn't even that right wing itself.

Reform have the momentum (At present) owing to the fact that the electorate are disenchanted with this Labour Government and due to the fact that the Conservative brand has been seriously damaged.
One could argue that the latter has played a greater part than the former.
We have to rebuild the party and the trust with the British people and to this end there is no fix of significant rapidity.

Funny ..that is not reflected in the opinion polls Labour are top ,Reform a close second and the Tories are languishing in a race for the bottom with the Liberal stunt people who have reintroduced Its a Knockout.

Opinion Polls at this juncture are not significant.
It is as 'Plain as a pikestaff' that there is disenchantment with the current Government.
Reform are benefitting as a result of Labour polices and a Conservative 'Brand' that has been seriously holed below the waterline and perhaps the latter is more significant.
Whether Kemi Badenoch can revive our fortunes is of course open to debate. It has been well documented that I never voted for her in the Leadership contest.

Which is much to your credit, she is a uxb waiting to explode, with luck an interim leader.

If 'don't touch my knee' Julia Hartley-Boomer supports you....

27 percent? A proper party would be at 40 against Starmer......who's about as popular as a hairy chest at the Guardian headquarters.
The saying about not running before you can walk springs to mind.

The further right parties have been nowhere up until now. Reform represents a real possibility of significant representation or even government in Parliament in 4 years or so. If that has to be Tory Right plus then that is 100% better that we have had for the past 35 years at least and maybe ever.

I have no problem with Lowe's opinions as I understand them, but all that matters right now are seats.
Many see Farage as a future Prime Minister. He is the embodiment of people's frustrations.

I still see it as Tory 2.0 and that Farage...like Trump....still thinks we can live in the 90s.....when I just see it as leading to the same result but ten years slower.

But hell, if they are the only realistic option I'll vote for them.....Looks like Lowe doesn't want to rock the boat with another party because he feels much the same.

Reports out there about Farage and Cummings having a chinwag. Could be an interesting dynamic.
I'm hearing suggestions that it's about the right of the Tory party at some point joining Reform...God knows what was left would do....probably join either Labour or the Liberals.....because to be frank a fair amount of the Tory parliamentary party are just Blairites anyway.

I don't know how much influence Cummings has with the right of the Tory MP set, but I'd imagine its quite significant.

Like I said at the time the blue rinsers killed themselves off when they choose Badenoch instead of Jennick.....kind of ironic in a way as they did themselves in with a virtue signal thinking they were good people.

With Cummings it's probably just exploratory talks for now......I know that Starkey has just had dinner with Zia Yusuf the Reform Chairman......There's a lot going on behind the scenes on the Tory right.
