Prof Jason Arday

I thought this was media trash and avoided it, they don't care what harm they do.

Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan is among those who have said Arday was subjected to unrelenting media scrutiny, I think it was much worse than that.

He said Arday had faced "an unacceptable public hounding and campaign of abuse", adding that he was a victim of "a pernicious public shaming that other people in his position simply wouldn't have faced".

"His death was a tragedy, but once again it should be a wake up call for all of us,"

Will there be an investigation I doubt it.

RIP a very sad day.

😎

Accountability missing as usual

RIP of course, a tragedy.

However people are now spinning this as though he was the victim of racism. He wasn't he told lies and obtained a high profile job because of it. He used that role to benefit financially and raised his profile with media interviews and the like.

When challenged over his lies he tried to get people into trouble with the police.

The BS coming out on the BBC today that a white person would not have suffered is simply not true. People in high profile jobs who get caught out lying get pelters from the media.

Just ask Peter Mandelson, Jeffrey Archer, The senior copper who lied about his military medals, Captain Tom Moore's family. All white all had huge media pressure and many more.

As others have posted who promoted him and did they care about his mental health. After he resigned all those jumping on the bandwagon did they check on his well being.

Plenty of black people in the past have been unjustly pilloried. He is not one of them and this is just the left defending DEI.

What is the alternative. "I've stolen someone else's career but you can't say anything in case I have a mental health crisis?"

I hope lessons have been learned but I doubt it.
Wonder what his former bestie o’brian will be feeling.
From an orgasm to a headache with one bit of truth.

Lessons never get learned, so you're right to doubt it.

There is something extra strange with the media's response to Jason Arday.

Considering how the narrative normally protects the so called minorities; the press went fall out for him.

We even has arch libtard Jeremy Vine doing a segment of Ardays supposed lies.

That doesn't normally happen. I'm getting conspiracy spider senses tingling.

I don't think this was a conspiracy more likely his lies were so blatant and easy to prove that even the nervous nellies of the media felt it safe to criticise him.

His families have accused the media of a campaign of misinformation (well they would say that) when the only misinformation has come from him.

It's sad but I think he got used to being believed and not challenged so the lies got bigger and so easier to prove.

The politicians who are criticising the media are trying to change the narrative from he's a liar and got caught out to "relentless pressure and a campaign of abuse because he's black"

They can't say the media has lied so they are trying to shoot the messenger.

They're really angry because it exposes their hypocrisy and demonstrates that a lot of their heroes may be fake. Yet, funnily enough, they never cared in the case of BLM etc. So there is something to it. Maybe, like everyone else, it's worse when you've been taken for a ride.

I'm not saying he wasn't lying. To be honest who knows 100 percent the truth of it.

Is there documented proof that he said all those wild things. He probably did, but I've only gone off what others have said.

My Wife's been an academic, she said everyone plagiarised. A broad statement for sure.

My main point is why all of a sudden the media went all out for a young "inspirational" black guy; they don't normally.

The media are always playing divide and rule on behalf of the government I'd suggest.

Edit

I did a quick search on two of the alleged lies.

The first one being he was a footballer for Palace.

He said in a video that he played academy football at Palace and then professionally for a while, not necessarily at palace.

I suppose that have meant semi pro and someone paying him. The media can twist things of course.

Secondly on the Jeremy Vine show it stated that Arday claimed to be a Professional Snooker player. In the video of him talking about this, he said he was a good player but not good enough to be professional.

Now I'm not saying he's not a massive Walter Mitty. But I am saying our media are and always have been lying bastards.

OK mea culpa hands up...

I have not properly followed this news. The BBC merely reported on an academic found in his multiple lies. They did not report his...

Colour.

Until this morning I (genuinely) had no idea.

I was wondering why this thread for (yet a.n. other) academic fraud was so long.

And the BBC have the nerve to run this recruitment story today

The lack of self awareness is staggering
It seems so but people this high are advised and make decisions on that advice. What MO does this role require. I’m not saying it’s a good or bad placement. Just what exactly should they be qualified in. You was a manager who made decisions. Some no doubt not the best and maybe about things you wasn’t qualified in. I would like to think though that a right leaning leader may have the tax payers in mind rather than tick boxes for praise.

I must admit I didn’t catch him on the pitch - do you know what position he played & his stats ?

I heard he released a book I’m sure he’d have a few paragraphs about it in there playing top level football.

(Sic)

Another suspicious part of this for me, is how comes Arday has been a Professor since 2023 and only now it comes to light.

Did he upset someone?

Everyone knew Russell Brand was a wrong un but the media left him alone. He then starts speaking out against covid etc and he's accused of all sorts.

It's part of the story. Journalists and anyone questioning were silenced. People knew long ago that it was all a house of cards. It had gone too far and couldn't be stopped.

As you say I have no idea if this is the correct appointment but one of the councillors complained that in the past the candidates had to go through 7 interviews, why?

One thing I learned when recruiting staff is that interviews are a very limited way of identifying a good candidate. You can get a general feel for a person and whether they have any good or stupid ideas but beyond that it doesn't tell how you they work with other people or under pressure, do they have commonsense are they even qualified for the position their CV says they are.

I'm not sure 7 interviews tells you anything other than you are afraid to make a decision so have to be seen doing your best if it goes horribly wrong.

Working in the public sector is very different than the private one. When I dealt with councils it was all about procedures and red tape and endless peoples approvals.

When I dealt with major corporations it was often one senior person making the decision on their own in the knowledge that if they got it horribly wrong they were out the door.

That would be the question I would ask this candidate, how exactly will he work within the restrictions of the public sector. He can't just say my word is law end of.
