Prof Jason Arday

Reminds me of Prince Harry and his missus.

They seek publicity whenever it suits, but complain when it doesn't.

'Everyone look at me' or 'Everyone stop looking at me' . What is it to be ?

An excellent comparison. Both Cambridge and Mr Arday had sort to use to the media to their own ends, hence it was fully game on when it all starting imploding.

You cannot actively seek media coverage when it suits, then expect that same media to back off when it appears they may have been sold a pup.

Not how this game works.

It takes more courage to end your own life than many of us have in us.

Any healthy young person driven by whatever reason to suicide is a loss

Whatever this guy did a system allowed him to do it and it seems that that system simply dropped him like a hot spud once they looked bad.

We see this all the time in society, I do a lot of work with ex military, veterans who have served given their lives and just chucked out and ignored. Society lacks responsibility as it has lost accountability
You know this because ….

This looked likely to happen quite frankly. Arday should never have become such a big story. It's wrong on many different levels.
There are so many morals and life lessons here. None that will be learned or heeded, no doubt.
There's always someone on a pedestal. It's perhaps worth taking a step back and wondering if anybody's worth putting on that pedestal in the first place?
It's sad that Arday's dead but it's sadder that it ever got to this point.

Yep clearly the media hasn't learnt anything from the Caroline Flack suicide. When your articles are reaching an audience of millions you really need to be careful about the potential consequences. I don't remember anyone getting punished amid the fallout of Flack's suicide either. It seems they have free reign to do whatever they please with zero consequences if something like this happens.

To be fair there was no reason to ‘punish’ anyone for Caroline Flack’s suicide. She carried out a serious domestic assault and was rightly prosecuted. The fact she lost her job as a result of it and all of this was reported on is what happens.

Jason Arday’s situation is a lesson for the woke liberals and lefties of this Country and demonstrates everything that is wrong with the woke DEI agenda.

If he wasn’t a massive lying fraudster this might never have happened, sad but he set his own wheels in motion.

I quite simply disagree with you there.

Obviously we all wish he hadn't ended it.....He hadn't murdered anyone and could have started again...what he did was immoral but no more than probably many others....the system was far more at fault.

There really should have been someone checking in with him because he was getting a lot of stick....deserved, but nevertheless, some people can't take it and need helping.

He was black and that alone is why he got the position he blagged.
Meritocratic rules don’t sit very well alongside a DEI rules.
DEI rules, what a lunatic idea.

The "he was hounded to death because he was black" angle these politicians are spinning is just deflecting the blame on to others.

He was killed by policies that they push. He was elevated by people who believe in policies that they pushed through. No duty of care was taken to assess the potential fallout. He was a vulnerable individual with severe mental health issues who shouldn't have been plunged into a high profile job that intense scrutiny would've been inevitable with the can of worms he was carrying. He needed help not encouragement.

The media are just as guilty as these type of people and Cambridge University are. This just feels like they are trying to pass the buck.

Sadiq Khan and Zarah Sultana, make no mistake, this is on you as well!

I thought this was media trash and avoided it, they don't care what harm they do.

Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan is among those who have said Arday was subjected to unrelenting media scrutiny, I think it was much worse than that.

He said Arday had faced "an unacceptable public hounding and campaign of abuse", adding that he was a victim of "a pernicious public shaming that other people in his position simply wouldn't have faced".

"His death was a tragedy, but once again it should be a wake up call for all of us,"

Will there be an investigation I doubt it.

RIP a very sad day.

😎

Absolute tosh.

The progressives are entirely responsible for Arday and their attempt at shifting blame isn't going to work with anyone with more than half a brain cell.

RIP of course, a tragedy.

However people are now spinning this as though he was the victim of racism. He wasn't he told lies and obtained a high profile job because of it. He used that role to benefit financially and raised his profile with media interviews and the like.

When challenged over his lies he tried to get people into trouble with the police.

The BS coming out on the BBC today that a white person would not have suffered is simply not true. People in high profile jobs who get caught out lying get pelters from the media.

Just ask Peter Mandelson, Jeffrey Archer, The senior copper who lied about his military medals, Captain Tom Moore's family. All white all had huge media pressure and many more.

As others have posted who promoted him and did they care about his mental health. After he resigned all those jumping on the bandwagon did they check on his well being.

Plenty of black people in the past have been unjustly pilloried. He is not one of them and this is just the left defending DEI.

What is the alternative. "I've stolen someone else's career but you can't say anything in case I have a mental health crisis?"

I hope lessons have been learned but I doubt it.
