Palace vs Millwall

Yeah our games v Pompey was stuff of legend. It’s much milder these days though.

Ha. Like it. There’s a lot of reasons Millwall fans would give for disliking palace, but jealousy wouldn’t be one of them. If you ask the average Millwall fan palace would be the club they would like to be like the least, regardless of success on the pitch.

Yeah 50 years ago, when your support was full of tough inner city working class dockies and Croydon was middle class suburbia. Now bermondsey is one of Londons most sought after areas, your younger support is full of day trippers from their nice semi detached houses in Kent and Surrey, who you wouldn't find anywhere near Croydon once the sun goes down, yet turn into mike tyson when they've got their flat caps on down at the den. Chalk and cheese maybe, tho I don't think Millwall know if they're chalk or cheese these days.

I suspect that the Millwall support will contain the usual riff-raff,rude twerps,wastrels and snarling malcontents.
At this juncture I have a 'Feeling in my water' that they will leave the ground with their 'Heads between their tails'.

With restrictions on our season ticket holders regarding securing their own seats - in the AW and part of the Whitehorse Lane Stand - there is an indication of a more than usual allocation for away supporters.

The AW holds 8,500. Will more than 5,000 seats be available for Millwall Supporters - giving a dilution of their potential fervour?

Depends what part of Bermondsey you’re talking about. Bermondsey street and around there I’d agree. But all around the Blue and the surrounding areas and Surrey Quays annd parts of Rotherhithe are all still old school and full of Millwall. I literally know scores of Millwall who still live around there and lots of Millwall families who have been there for generations.

I agree a lot of our support now reside on the outskirts as well. Eltham and Sidcup is full of Millwall as well as large parts of Kent. But there’s still plenty ‘on the manor’ as they say.

I literally know scores of Millwall who still live around there and lots of Millwall families who have been there for generations.

My old man was a Millwall supporter (lived in Peckham) and had some lively tales about the goings on there before the war including lots of bottles being flung containing recycled beer.

Shame is because of the hype about trouble some wont go or take their kids.
Mugs on both sides will cause trouble so don’t wear colours. It’s not like our accents will give us away 👌

Actually I would say do wear colours. Millwall fans don't wear the shirts as a rule, my mates say that any of them (apart from kids) get abuse.

That said the thugs don't normally go after supporters who wear colours as it is not the done thing. However if you wear black that day they may assume you are HF and therefore fair game.

Having watched BBC broadcasts with Welsh Male Voice Choirs singing in Welsh with English subtitles, my attendance at the match has a certain sadness. Would have loved to have seen text of "South London is Ours" on the screen.

As it is the BBC will have challenges with the sounds coming from the match.

How could the HF be fair game, they're not a hooligan firm as far as I know
