Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

According to click bait it's that time of year again, it's as predictable as Christmas.

Yup you guessed it, it's the last minute bid from Spurs for one of our players with a low ball fee.

I mean it wouldn't be a transfer window without one of them.

This time it's for JPM. I suspect he would love to go but because it's Spuds I hope we say no.

According to the bbc, they are in talks to sign Savinho & Marmoush from City.

Genuinely I think were a CB away from having an unbelievable season. Weve got players that can play in a multitude of positions and that will be horrible to play against, if Doucoure can regain his fitness/ Ozoh stays....weve got an extra 2 CMs which we didn't have last season, its looking exciting...but we do need 1 more & a CB would be ideal.
We now have that CB (apparently). Is that the one you want/we need?

I'm reasonably optimistic now

He’s got a year left on his contract contract and has stated his desire to leave. We will sell if we get a decent bid as we will still have two PL strikers and other attackers.

Which is so mental. Given the fact that they have 1 central striker in Solanke (who likes an injury), and about a million, of those type of players (Kudus, Kulusevski, Maddison, Odobert, Richarlason, Simons, Tel).

Could certainly see a world in which they go for Mateta.

Really enjoying Sage’s press conference, for all his successes on the pitch I was not a fan of the Oliver Glasner show in press conference towards the end.

Liked his honesty, planning on Wharton staying, Mateta staying at least for now, signing a centre back to replace LeCroix, as a leader as much as anything else. Keen to state that Mingueza plays on the left as well as right when asked about us having so many RWBs. Esse will be leaving.

Get shot of both Esse & JRS on permanent deals, neither will ever cut it in the Premier League. Offload JSL to the Saudi pro league.

Bring in Le Guen, Njie, Marmoush & an absolutely class midfielder…happy days.

Why is everyone so keen to see the back of Mateta. This so called logic that he wants to go and the club needs to cash in is ridiculous . He has been our best striker for the past two seasons and is twice the player JSL currently is. So what if he leaves on a free next summer if he helps us succeed this season. I don’t care if the club miss out on a possible 30m as his contribution this season will be worth nearly as much.

Why is there a subset of fans that have zero commercial competence?

In an ideal world we keep JP. But having a healthy balance sheets allows us to build a bigger and stronger squad. To finally get a back up right back, to sign exciting prospects like Gozo etc.

Guehi is the best example of this. Many were happy to 'lose' the 20m for 5 months more Guehi. Parish 100% made the right call. We won the cup, Canvot/Riad got valuable experience and now if Munoz gets injured we wont have to play Clyne at wing back!

There of course is a balance and will always be exceptions, but we have to be smart. Sell when the money is there, when contracts are short, and the player is past their peak.

His age and his contract is coming to an end also injury wise may not be great his issues went on for a long time could this be something which has to be managed as well.

The club does need the cash you cant just keep letting people go on free transfers.

If we can get 30-40m that is a lot of money and could get Palace either 1 good player or multi it's a big deal for us getting 0 means we have to find another area to now get that money.

Twice the player JSL is not correct the guy has been at Palace for not even a full season and not had regular football (Have you forgotten Mateta history with us)

What do you define as succeed?

Success for me is qualifying for Europe via the league so 7th maybe 8th and a decent go at winning the Europa League. Possible with Mateta probably not without him . JSL might get better but his footwork nowhere near Mateta’s. Mateta brings out the best in players around him while JSL struggles to assert himself.

As one of those with zero commercial competence I want to keep Mateta because his record shows him to be in top 5 scorers in the Premier League in recent seasons as well as our all time top scorer in the Premier League.
This type of player is priceless to a club like Palace.
He even got the winner in our European final.

Glasner said he's the best finisher he has ever worked with.

Furthermore, Mateta has been integral to our style of play acting as a focal point for our attack , linking play and defending from the front.

Larsen is not a patch on Mateta as a player, and I'm going to make a bold prediction - he never will be in terms of goals or overall contribution for Palace.
Come back and heap scorn on me if I'm wrong!

It saddens me that so many fans now seem to now look at football through the prism of a balance sheet as opposed to looking forward to the thrill of the 90 plus minutes of the games themselves with our best possible players on the field.

We have a new unproven manager (in the PL) We did not have a great record in the PL last season despite winning a European trophy.

Unless someone comes in with a silly offer for JPM I would keep him which means letting him go on a free next summer.

We need to mitigate the risk of it all going horribly wrong so to me it's a no brainer, keep him.

I mean, it’s a balance as every purchase and sale are. Selling Mateta would be the right decision if we get enough money AND have enough goals elsewhere. Sarr, JSL and Nketiah have merits but we’d need a good replacement lined up or enough money to be very confident we could find one before the end of the window. I’d suggest replacing him will not be easy.
