Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

Gozo...interesting signing!!

Another player with big potential who looks like he can play as a 10 or RWB. We're certainly pretty stacked in those positions. So far I'm much more pleased with our approach this summer in comparison to January.

A genuine box to box midfielder and a commanding CB for the middle of our back line would be a good way to end the transfer window. With qualifications ongoing for the various European competitions, I do wonder if we're waiting on some key targets to see if their clubs fail to qualify and therefore decide to sell.

Plus if I'm being greedy a Mateta contract extension and a 60m bid from a random Saudi club for JSL.

Genuinely I think were a CB away from having an unbelievable season. Weve got players that can play in a multitude of positions and that will be horrible to play against, if Doucoure can regain his fitness/ Ozoh stays....weve got an extra 2 CMs which we didn't have last season, its looking exciting...but we do need 1 more & a CB would be ideal.

Yeah I feel like the position our strongest side would benefit from improvement with would be a CB. We have lost so much quality and experience there recently.

The position our wider squad, if playing Thursday-Sunday, need the most is a passing CM as we only have two and they both play in our strongest side.

If Doucouré could come back to the player he was then yes just one more CB. We have 'enough' but not the right mix to replace what we will miss from Max

But CM will be the obvious other place to improve on deadline day

I am not too happy about how things are going and hope we'll get the newcomers we need.
The trouble with 'last minute' signings is the time it takes to bed them in.

So far we seem to be suspect in defence and ineffective in attack

The new manager is a worry as we don't know how good he is and if he will cope with the stresses of the Premier League - any points from the first two games would be encouraging.

After off-loading the talented but non-performing Johnson what would cheer me up is if we could do the same with Strand Larsen. Whoever was responsible for these two hideously expensive signings in January should have been run out of the club. If it was Glasner then that has happened.

If we don't lose against Everton and City I will be surprised and delighted.

Definitely a glass half ( maybe 95 % ) empty view point .

Personally I’m happy with how we’re going especially compared to how “ quickly “ we handle windows .

6 in which is already more than most windows with rumours about experienced CB’s and a Midfielder .

Only seemingly strong outgoing rumour is Munoz and we’ve already brought in replacements to cover him and Clyne .

What’s not to like ..

This for me is the single biggest requirement - a fit and firing Doucoure. If we get one, we'll be top 10 material. If not, the balance of the midfield is still severely lacking and we'll be in trouble, with Hughes and Lerma getting on a bit. Need to have experience and leadership too.

Going into this summer we had clear needs to address depth at centre back and centre midfield along with too many wide forwards. So far we’ve signed three wide forwards, no centre midfielders and have downgraded at centre back. Hmmmmm
Some one had to say it. Although there's been a few signings the areas that need reinforcing have yet to be addressed.

Time will tell on the quality, but there certainly feels to be an upgrade in the level of professionalism.

Transfers in with minimal fuss. Great free agents like Mingueza signed early. Highly tipped players like Khalaili and Gozo. Chat leaking about being in contact for a long time. decisive on dead wood (McNeil/Johnson) (Positions being strengthened before departures, Munoz?)

Yes indeed. I expect set pieces to test the defence, an area where they failed last season and needs attention.
Last season Everton were 11th in the table for the number of set-piece goals scored a total of 13.
We were 17th on 10 goals.
Approximately 39% to 52% of our overall conceded goals originated from dead-ball situations depending on inclusion of penalties and secondary phase tracking.
Overall we struggled to defend dead-ball situations.

Looking at our buys dispassionately the jury is out, although I understand that people feel the need to be optimistic.

Tomiyasu is a quality player, but has had a terrible injury record in recent seasons.
It can be seen as low risk, but I certainly wouldn't want to rely on him playing a full season because the evidence doesn't point that way.

McNeil is experienced at Premier League level, a solid professional, and should add a different skillset to the rest of the squad.

On Khalaili, Mingueza and Gozo the reality is that none of us have a clue how they will get on.
They are new to the Premier League and new to the country.
Success in an overseas league doesn't necessarily mean that it will be replicated here.
We have done this before and Munoz and Lacroix have been revelations, but Franca (acclaimed as the new Zaha) Ahamada and Meyer disappointed.
We just have to hope the signings work out.

We've also brought in Guessand on loan so presumably the club have been convinced enough by his previous spell.

I'm looking forward to see how the new players adapt.

Nice to see the optimism,
Only one starter from last year sold who will be replaced.
More signings than this time last year, with I should think at least one CB and another central midfield player (Can Doucoure play at his best again but alongside Wharton or Kamada ??) to come.
Provided we do not as usual over loan or sell too many fringe players (and then in the autumn complain about a small squad !!), we will have better depth of squad.

Yet. Good signs in pre season...

Charlton fans think they will get JRS back however I doubt they could afford the fee so loan would be their only option. I doubt that will happen unless we can't sell him. I suspect the same with Esse.

It's that time of the window where selling clubs have to decide whether to drop their price, ship out on loan or just stick with him in the hope that they will improve.

A sports management friend of mine has just said that we enquired or were touted 2 Liverpool players at start of the month. One being none other than Joe Gomez and speculated a pretty low fee of circa £10m could be enough.

Supposedly had discussions with us in Summer 23 for a loan, but wanted to be playing CB and not RB of which we were more interested in at the time. Would be happier with him over Disasi TBH, if he can stay injury-free.

He wouldn't confirm the second player but said "asking price was a bit high considering and don't think we need him now". His face changed slightly when I said Harvey Elliott...

I've no reason to doubt my friend and can defo believe we'd try do a bargain deal for either with contracts being up at end of the season.
