Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

The first leg of the Conference League play-off round would be due to take place at Selhurst Park on Thursday, 21st August.

The second leg would take place away the following week on Thursday, 28th August.

I don’t hold out much hope of reversing UEFAs call re multi club ownership, much as we think we know we weren’t guilty of that.

I think our best chance is around the so called deadline date of 1/3/25. We were in no position to comply and apparently ECA members were told that date wasn’t set in stone anyway. That to me highlights that the rule is inconsistently applied and is not fit for purpose. So basically , despite all of the subsequent efforts to remove any trace of multi club ownership, we are being punished for not hitting a date that may or may not be a hard deadline which is months in advance of the competition even starting !

Agree with everything except the bit in bold. We could have been in a position to comply with more foresight - even if that'd require an unnatural level of foresight.

The way I see It - albeit from an unknowledgeable position - is there was a date, Uefa deemed us in breach at that date. The only way I see us winning this appeal is to prove that, based on the rules set out by Uefa, that that ruling was incorrect due to either ambiguity of the rules or the incorrect implementation of them. All other scenarios such as the ones including supposed precedents with other organisations (eg. moving dates etc), I expect can be explained/brushed aside by Uefa fairly easily.

I'm expecting our appeal to be lost due to some technicality which seems unfair and for CAS to tell Uefa to sort it out for next time.

I cannot work out if the fact that the draw has already been made is a hindrance to our case or not - as if we win, forest will be in our place, but the fact that it is an extra complication can only hurt us.

Midtjylland are quite a decent team - it could be a difficult couple of games if it turns out to be them. Not an easy place to get to either. I think Norwegian fly to Billund airport from Gatwick, then it is another couple of hours from there. Billund being the home of Legoland.

Yeah I wouldn't want to get Midtjylland. They aren't great, but are pretty experienced in Europe, and that will count for something.

Fredrikstad capacity is 12,560 & 12,000 for Midtjylland. As there has to be a minimum of 5% of capacity, if its Fredrikstad that will be 628 Palace supporters for the away match on the 28th & 600 for Midtjylland, minus the HF tickets, probably be 480 tickets available for 'qualifying' supporters. I'm thinking you will need 9000 points plus an away ST, Pure Guess.

So let me get this right. We have gone from a guaranteed place in the group stages of the Europa League (Europes second most prestigious tournament) to potentially nothing if we lose in the knockout round of an inferior European competiton? Hmmm so winning the FA Cup (the world's most difficult football knockout competiton) is potentially not as important as coming somewhere between 3rd & 8th in in a tin pot league in eastern Europe. I despise UEFA only slightly less than I despise Trump.

The final CAS ruling will be very revealing. I can't believe Parish has gone to these lengths out of vanity, knowing the club messed up but thinks that taking it to arbitration will somehow put it right. Then again it all seems a bit too shady for CAS to uphold the original UEFA decision. And then again I can't see UEFA putting its hands up if Palace "win" and saying "We messed up, the person responsible is no longer with UEFA, we'll do better in future."
What a mess...

Well he clearly doesn’t believe that the club “ messed up “ and neither do I.
But as I posted earlier, I think our best chance is in challenging the timing and application of their rule around Blind Trusts

The way I see it Palace we’re in no position to place Textor’s shares into a blind trust. Only he could do it. Alternatively Textor could have put his Palace shares into a blind trust. However SP and the team are being blamed for it. Neither CP nor OL qualified for the Europa League until the same day, the last day of Ligue 1 and Cup Final day 17 May.

We are still waiting to hear which competition we are playing in. Who is to blame? Clearly Uefa has to take most of it delaying their decisions over Lyon and the appeal. Whilst saying that the Club would take the case to CAS Parish did seem to take some time before submitting it. I suppose our legal team needed to rack up the hours going through the details with a fine tooth comb. Still, we have a chance of reaching a 300 pages before the result is published. Watch out for pictures of SP on Friday to see if he is smiling.

I wonder if CPFC will look into developing a local fan zone for travelling Palace fans without match tickets? Fairly easy to do, it would generate €€€ for the local economy and would be a massive gesture to CPFC's loyal clients (oops, I mean fans). Could be restricted to members and pre-sell entry tickets with proceeds going to the Palace for Life Foundation!
